The Gideon Tucker House, also known as 2 White Street, is an historic house at the corner of West Broadway and White Street in the TriBeCa neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The Federal style house was built in 1808–09 by Gideon Tucker, who oversaw its construction and lived in the house once it was complete. Tucker was a city Alderman from the Fifth Ward, and also served as School Commissioner and the city's Commissioner of Estimates and Assessments. His Tucker & Ludlum plaster factory was located on another part of the same property. The house is a remnant of the period when the area, then known as the Lower West Side, was developing more residences.The ground floor of the house was utilized as a shop, which remains the case today. The brick and wood house is a rare example of one from its time that still retains its gambrel roof and its original dormer windows. It also retains its original cornice, which displays "handsome detailing and fine moldings". Although built in 1809, its style derives from the Eighteenth Century. Typically, a house such as this would have been the termination of a small row of similar houses, generally two stories tall with a basement.The house at 2 White Street was designated a New York City Landmark on July 19, 1966.

Tier 3 (aka TR3) was an influential but short-lived 300-capacity no wave art nightclub in New York. Founded by Hilary Jaeger in 1979, Tier 3 was a major venue in the city's underground music and counterculture post-punk art scene, along with the Mudd Club. Live performances showcased punk rock, no wave, ska, noise music, free jazz, new wave and experimental music. The club was located at 225 West Broadway in the TriBeCa neighborhood of lower Manhattan. Besides Hilary Jaeger, who booked the bands and ran Tier 3 (initially giving 100% of the door money to the bands), the DJs were Bob Gurevics and Simeon Gallu in addition to many guest DJs. The Lounge Lizards had one of their first gigs at Tier 3 and Lindzee Smith occasionally showed films of the No Wave Cinema on the third floor.On the second floor, art and photography shows were hung. Kiki Smith, of Colab, painted a mural there. The third floor had a dance area lit by a disco ball. On the first floor, in the bar area, there was a DJ booth that Jean-Michel Basquiat had painted. Basquiat also painted a mural on the wall between the bar room and the music room on the first floor, that had only a 10" stage, due to the low ceilings throughout. This low stage offered an intimate, face to face, relationship between musicians and the audience. Tier 3 closed in December 1980. Jaeger and her crew quit Tier 3 in December 1980 at around the same time the club received an eviction notice.

El Internacional Tapas Bar & Restaurant was conceived as an artistic project and social experiment, carried out between 1984 and 1986 by artist Antoni Miralda and chef Montse Guillén in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It was an initiative which blended contemporary art and cuisine. The restaurant's became an iconic symbol of the New York scene of the 80s. The project engaged food, sensorial experiences and installation art as vehicles and rituals for transmitting and subverting traditions and blending social practices of the time. El Internacional was seen as a point of convergence for the artistic community, and, at the same time, as a real place that engaged neighbors and celebrities alike in its culinary inventions and exotic allure. El Internacional was an ongoing process of the almost 3-year day-by-day creation of a work of installation and performance art. El Internacional was a team project and a collective work of art. The space framed the experience and interactions around food as clients ended up being participants in a multi-layered experience few had imagined. The visit led to unexpected situations and stimulating relationships between art, design, architecture and the mass media.

Franklin Street was a station on the demolished IRT Sixth Avenue Line in Manhattan, New York City. It was located at Franklin Street and West Broadway, and it had two tracks and two side platforms. There was space for two additional tracks in the station. South of the station there are two additional tracks that served to layup trains.

The Franklin Street station is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Franklin Street, Varick Street, and West Broadway. It is served by the 1 train at all times and by the 2 train during late nights. The station was built by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) as part of the Dual Contracts with New York City, and opened on July 1, 1918. The station had its platforms extended in the 1960s, and was renovated in the early 1990s.

Montrachet was a French restaurant in Tribeca opened in April 1985 and Drew Nieporent’s first restaurant. It closed in the summer of 2006. Within seven weeks of opening, the New York Times gave it a three star rating which it kept for 21 years.Unlike other “serious French restaurants” of the time, Montrachet was a remodeled industrial space with pipes that were exposed, original plaster ceilings, young staff dressed all in black and a printed menu in English instead of French. Daniel Johnnes’ wine list gave American wines as much focus as French. Wine Spectator honored them with a Grand Award in 1994.

Corton was a New French cuisine restaurant located at 239 West Broadway (between Walker Street and White Street) in Tribeca, Manhattan, in New York City run by chef Paul Liebrandt and restaurateur Drew Nieporent. It opened in 2008 on the site of Montrachet, a restaurant Nieporent had opened in 1985. It holds two stars in the New York City Michelin Guide. It closed in July 2013 when Chef Liebrandt left to open The Elm in Brooklyn. The restaurant is featured in the 2011 documentary A Matter of Taste. In 2013, Zagats gave it a food rating of 26, and a decor rating of 24.Corton maintains 3 stars from The New York Times and has been named the 2nd Best Restaurant in New York City by GQ Magazine.

Frenchette is a restaurant in TriBeCa, New York City which opened in April 2018. It won the James Beard Foundation Award as Best New Restaurant in 2019. It is owned by chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson and is named for David Johansen's 1978 song "Frenchette". The menu includes a mix of modern and traditional French with dishes like escargots, tortilla espanola and spaghetti with shaved bottarga. Nasr and Hanson worked together since 1997 at Keith McNally's restaurants, Balthazar, Pastis and Minetta Tavern, before opening Frenchette.

The Art Institute of New York City was a for-profit college in New York City. The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. Founded in 1980 as The New York Restaurant School, and renamed in 2001, it was accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The Art Institute of New York City officially closed in 2017.

The American Thread Building is a historic building located at 260 West Broadway on the corner of Beach Street in the TriBeCa neighborhood of lower Manhattan, New York City. The eleven story building was designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect William B. Tubby, and built in 1896. It was originally known as the Wool Exchange Building, and owned by the Wool Warehouse Company. The wool company did not succeed and the building was acquired by the American Thread Company in 1907.In 1979 a group of young artist made a stand against real estate developer Harry B. Macklowe. He emptied a 93% occupied building of its rent paying tenants with the help of the J51 tax abatement offered by then NYC mayor Ed Koch. It was a lost battle in the New York City courts and the building was renovated and converted into live/work lofts in 1981.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 20, 2005. In 2007, a renovation of one of the units uncovered an early work by artist Keith Haring.
