Killeshin (Irish: Cill Uisean, meaning 'church of [the glen of] Uise') is a village in County Laois, Ireland on the R430 regional road. Killeshin is a small rural community situated five kilometres west of Carlow town and overlooks the picturesque Barrow Valley. The church at the foot of Slievemargy, the hill above Killeshin, is the site of an early Christian monastery. The village is in a townland and civil parish of the same name.

Killeshin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association football club in the village of Killeshin, County Laois, Ireland. The club colours are green and white and the club grounds, which are near the Laois-Carlow border, are called Seamus Hearns Park/Pairc Uisean. In 2019, Killeshin reached their first-ever Senior County final. Killeshin have never won the Laois Senior Football Championship title but they have won the Laois Intermediate Football Championship four times (1958, 1974, 1993 and 2011) and the Laois Junior Football Championship four times (1957, 1969, 1981 and 2008). The club won season four of RTÉ's Celebrity Bainisteoir in 2011, with ex-Ireland soccer star Tony Cascarino as their manager.

Ballickmoyler or Ballicmoyler (Irish: Baile Mhic Mhaoilir, meaning 'the town of the son of Maoilir') is a village and townland in County Laois, Ireland. It lies 30 km (19 mi) southeast of Portlaoise, at the junction of the N80 national secondary road and the R429 regional road.

Ballyhide (Irish: Baile an Hídigh, meaning 'town of An tÍdeach (de la Hyde)') is a rural townland and village in the extreme south eastern corner of County Laois, Ireland at the border with County Carlow. The nearest urban centre is Carlow town which is 3 kilometres to the north east. It is located in the Luggacurren Local Electoral District.

Bilboa (Irish: Biolbó) is a settlement located on the boundaries of counties Carlow, Laois and Kilkenny in Ireland. A bridge, a short distance from the village and built c. 1800, is known as the 'Three Counties Bridge'. The little settlement at Bilboa was originally based around coal and coal mining. Of the original mining village, only the church remains. Bilboá's Church of Ireland church is a detached three-bay Tudor Revival church, built in 1846. It has a crenellated entrance tower and granite dressings, including clasping buttresses on octagonal plans. The interior retains its original pews. Some sources link the origin of the name Bilboa to Colonel John Staunton Rochford (1802-1844), who is credited with an act of valour while stationed with the British Army near the Spanish city of Bilboa. He became known as Rochford of Bilboa, whereas his family before him were the Rochfords of Clogrennene. Later members of his family were involved in the building of Bilboa church c. 1850. The area is home to a windfarm, a national (primary) school and an An Post post office.

Clogrennane Castle is a ruined castle in County Carlow, Ireland, near Clogrennane, about two miles from Carlow on the River Barrow on the county border with County Laois.

Arles or Arless (historically Ardlisse, from Irish: Ard Lios, meaning 'high ringfort') is a village in County Laois, Ireland. It lies 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) northwest of Ballickmoyler and 10 km (6 mi) northwest of Carlow, on the N80 national secondary road. Located close to Carlow, the village has expanded in size since its foundation, when it comprised just a few houses around the church. The church was built in the 1680s (according to an inscription on a stone in the wall) and originally had a thatched roof. A mausoleum to the Grace family was built in the churchyard in 1818.

Arles–Killeen GAA is a Gaelic football club in County Laois, Ireland. Founded in 1961 the club colours are white with black trim. The club has won 3 Laois Intermediate Football Championships and in 2006 reached the Laois Senior Football Championship final where they were beaten by Ballyroan Gaels. In 2013 and 2014 they again reached the Laois Senior Football Championship final but were beaten on both occasions by Portlaoise. Laois senior players Donal Kingston and Paul Kingston and former Laois players Brian McDonald, Donal Brennan and Paul McDonald play or played their club football with Arles–Killeen.

Ballinabranna or Ballinabrannagh (Irish: Baile na mBreatnach) is a small village in County Carlow, Ireland. It is located approximately 8 kilometres south of Carlow and 5 kilometres from Junction 6 of the M9 motorway. It is within the townland of Ballinabrannagh, and is in the barony of Idrone West. As of the 2022 census, the population of the village was 557.

Arles–Kilcruise GAA Gaelic Athletic Association Club is a gaelic football club in County Laois, Ireland. Founded in October 1960, the club colours are maroon and white. The club won its only Laois Senior Football Championship title to date in 2003 under the captaincy of Paudge Conway. Arles won the Laois Junior Football Championship in 202 and followed up with the intermediate title two years later. From Under 12 to Under 21 the club's players play with Na Fianna Óg

Graiguecullen GFC are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from County Laois, Ireland. The club played in Carlow for many years but in 1926 they were suspended. The club then chose to play in Laois and have been doing so ever since. The club were winners of thirteen Carlow Senior Football Championship titles (the last of which was in 1925) and twelve Laois Senior Football Championship titles, the last of which was in 1965. The club won the Laois Intermediate Football Championship in 2007 in their first attempt to bounce straight back up to senior football, after being relegated for the first time in the club's history in 2006. The club have produced a number of Laois inter-county football players, including Tommy Murphy, Mick Haughney and Mark Timmons.

Carlow Castle (Irish: Caisleán Cheatharlach) is located near the River Barrow in County Carlow, Ireland. It was built between 1207 and 1213, and is a National Monument of Ireland.
