KABC (790 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Los Angeles, California, and serving the Greater Los Angeles area. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasts a conservative talk radio format. The studios are located in the Los Angeles suburb of Culver City. The transmitter is off West Martin Luther King Boulevard in the Crenshaw District, shared with KWKW (1330 AM) and KFOX (1650 AM). KABC’s power is 6,600 watts daytime and 7,900 watts nighttime, using a directional antenna. KABC carries a mix of local and nationally syndicated talk shows. In afternoon drive time, John Phillips hosts a three-hour show, followed by Frank Mottek and Randy Wang. Syndicated programs include Armstrong & Getty, The Vince (Coglianese) Show, America in the Morning and Red Eye Radio. On weekends, The Kim Komando Show is heard, along with paid brokered programming. National news from NBC News Radio and local news updates begin each hour. Early on weekdays, KABC airs a simulcast of KABC-TV's morning newscast. UCLA Bruins sports air on some weekends.

KFOX (1650 kHz) is a Korean language AM radio station, licensed to Torrance, California and serving the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It shares a transmitter site with KWKW. KFOX is one of three radio stations in the greater Los Angeles area broadcasting entirely in Korean, in addition to KMPC and KYPA.

Rancho La Ciénega ó Paso de la Tijera was a 4,219-acre (17.07 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Los Angeles County, California given in 1843 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Vicente Sánchez. "La Cienega" is derived from the Spanish word ciénega, which means swamp or marshland and refers to the natural springs and wetlands in the area between Beverly Hills and Park La Brea and the Baldwin Hills range. "Paso de la Tijera" appears in c1860 maps where a path crosses a stream, at today's intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Some sources say the term means "Pass of the Scissors" and was used by Spanish settlers to describe a pass through the Baldwin Hills which resembled an open pair of scissors, though another (Marinacci) says that "tijera" almost always means "drainage ditch" in old land descriptions.The Los Angeles River historically changed course occasionally, and flowed to join Ballona Creek in the rancho and into the Santa Monica Bay until 1825, when it returned to its course to San Pedro Bay through Rancho San Pedro. Rancho Las Cienegas was to the north, and Rancho Rincon de los Bueyes to the west also in the Baldwin Hills. The rancho was east of La Cienega Boulevard and south Exposition Boulevard and includes present day Baldwin Hills district, Leimert Park, Ladera Heights, and Windsor Hills.

Marlton School is a KG–12 public special school for the deaf and hard of hearing students in Los Angeles, California, United States. It was established in 1968 and is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. It offers a bilingual program in American Sign Language and English, and was one of the first non-residential schools to be admitted to the Center for ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research (CAEBER) program called ASL/English Bilingual Professional Development (AEBPD). It is the only school district-run school for deaf and hard-of-hearing children in California.The school is prominent for its partnership with California State University, Northridge, Deaf West Theatre, Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD), the Greenelight Foundation, and the Los Angeles Police Department. It was the inspiration for Carlton School for the Deaf on ABC Family's television show Switched at Birth starring Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc.

Crenshaw, or the Crenshaw District, is a neighborhood in South Los Angeles, California.In the post–World War II era, a Japanese American community was established in Crenshaw. African Americans started migrating to the district in the mid 1960s, and by the early 1970s were the majority.The Crenshaw Boulevard commercial corridor has had many different cultural backgrounds throughout the years, but it is still "the heart of African American commerce in Los Angeles".

The Michelle and Barack Obama Sports Complex, previously known as the Rancho Cienega Recreation Center, is a multibuilding sports complex in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles. The complex is named after Michelle and Barack Obama, where Barack Obama held a rally at the center in 2007. The complex neighbors Susan Miller Dorsey High School, who is partnered with them for its use in school events.

Farmdale station is an at-grade light rail station on the E Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located in the center median of Exposition Boulevard at its intersection with Farmdale Avenue, after which the station is named, in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. It is located between Expo/La Brea station to the west and Expo/Crenshaw station to the east.

Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw is a neighborhood in the south region of the city of Los Angeles. It is divided between the upscale, principally home-owning Baldwin Hills residential district to the south and a more concentrated apartment area Crenshaw District to the north, just south of Exposition Boulevard. A commercial corridor along Crenshaw Boulevard includes Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Marlton Square and Crenshaw Boulevard.

Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (alternately BHCP) is a shopping mall located in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. This was one of the first regional shopping centers in the United States built specifically for the automobile. Two anchor buildings, completed in 1947, retain their original Streamline Moderne style. Since the mid-1960s, the mall has become a major economic and cultural hub of surrounding African American communities which include a spectrum of socioeconomic classes. Its remaining anchor store is TJ Maxx after the closure of Macy's, Sears and Walmart. An additional net 2 million square feet (190,000 m2) of new development was approved by the city in 2018. The approved plan includes apartments, condominiums, a 400-room hotel, office space and additional stores. The mall has been seeking a buyer who would build out the approved plan. The sale has been challenged with community protests including a group of neighborhood activists who made a play to acquire the property and develop it as a community-owned project. In 2021, Harridge Development Group bought the mall for about $111 million.
