Perumbavoor (IPA: [peɾumbɐːʋuːr], Malayalam: പെരുമ്പാവൂർ) is a historic place located at Bank of Periyar (Poorna River) in Ernakulam District in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a part of the Kochi metropolitan area It lies in the north-eastern tip of the Greater Cochin area and is also the headquarters of Kunnathunad Taluk. Perumbavoor is famed in the state for wood industries and small-scale industries. Ernakulam lies 30 km southwest of Perumbavoor. The town lies between Angamaly and Muvattupuzha on the Main Central Road (MC), which connects Thiruvananthapuram to Angamaly through the old Travancore part of Kerala. Perumbavoor lies in the banks of river Periyar. Perumbavoor has many immigrants from other parts of India, including West Bengal, Orissa, and Uttar Pradesh. Most work in the plywood or other industries. Tamils, Assamese and Nepalese have special colonies of their own. The state government and the Greater kochi development authority have plans to include Angamaly, Perumbavoor, Piravom and Kolenchery in Ernakulam district; Mala and Kodungallur in Thrissur district; Thalayolaparambu and Vaikom in Kottayam; and Cherthala in Alappuzha district within the Kochi metropolitan limits. The newly formed metropolis would be put under the charge of a new authority called Kochi Metropolitan Regional Development Authority.

Kuruppampady is situated about five kilometers from Perumbavoor on the Aluva-Munnar road, in Kunnathunad Taluk, Ernakulam district, Kerala, India.

St. Mary's Cathedral, popularly known as Kuruppampady Pally is situated at Kuruppampady, 4 km east of Perumbavoor in the Kunnathunadu Taluk of Ernakulam district. The Kuruppampady cathedral is one among the older churches of the Malankara Church in the Ernakulam district, Kerala. The church was established around 1300 AD by a group of Christian families who were members of the Kanjoor church residing at Kuruppampady.

Allapra is a town in Kunnathunad Taluk of Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is on Perumbavoor-Kolenchery road. It is a junction where road to Thuruthipilly meet Perumbavoor-Kolenchery road.

Rayamangalam is a village (Grama punchyathu) in the Ernakulam district of Kerala state, India.

Pulluvazhi is a small village in Rayamangalam Grama punchyathu in the Ernakulam district of Kerala state, India. It is close to the towns Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha and Kothamangalam. Pulluvazhi is the birthplace of many people representatives in the Kerala legislature. K.G .Rohithakshan Kartha (KGR Kartha), represented Seventh Kerala Legislative Assembly as Minister for Health; Communist Party veteran and former Chief Editor of Deshabhimani, P. Govinda Pillai, well known educationalist Rev K.C. Paily were born in Pulluvazhy. Padayatt Kesavapillai Vasudevan Nair (PKV), the 9th Chief Minister of Kerala also had firm connections in this village and his memorial service had performed here. Famous Nangelil Ayurvedic Marmma Therapy Doctors are from Pulluvazhi. Sister Rani Maria Vattalil, also known as Indore Rani was also born in this village. Sister Rani Maria was murdered in a knife attack by a hitman named Samandar Singh at Nachanbore Hill in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on 25 February 1995. The murder was arranged because some landlords were offended by her work among the landless poor. Later on, her family forgave her murderer. The documentary The Heart of a Murderer, depicting the murder and subsequent repentance of Samandar Singh was the winner at the World Interfaith Harmony Film Festival 2013. The writer and social critique M.P. Narayana Pillai, P.R. Sivan, former MLA and renowned drama director Kalady Gopi were also from Pulluvazhy. Above all, Pulluvazhi is renowned for its unity against Hartal, a common strike practice in India by restraining public to work, to travel, to shop etc. Pulluvazhy gave mere importance to this strike and never supported any kind of such strike. The entire village is very much alive in a Harthal Day, and is a solace to most of the travelers as the village is besides Airport-Kottayam MC Road. The only two occasions when the village had downed shutters were when Communist leaders P. Govinda Pillai, P K V and P.R. Sivan died. Stamba Boys Arts and Sports Club, a well-known club in Kerala, is located at Pulluvazhi. Currently, the village is famous for timber business.

Thuruthipilly is a town in Kunnathunad Taluk of Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is near Allapra on Perumbavoor-Kolenchery road. Thurthipilly is famous for its Jacobite Orthodox church.

Koovappady is a village in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala.Koovappady is around 8 km north to Perumbavoor and is near to Kodanadu elephant training centre. Other places of interest nearby include Kalady, the birthplace of Sankaracharya, and Malayattoor. Ganpati Vilasam High School is famous here.

Cheranalloor (East) is a village in Ernakulam District, Kerala, India. It lies on the banks of Periyar River near Kalady. East Cheranalloor should not be confused with Cheranalloor on the northern outskirts of Kochi. According to tradition, the village was named by its earlier inhabitants who found this place very fertile and beautiful. The name in its local language Malayalam means "Good place to join".

Thottuva is a village in Ernakulam District, Kerala, India. It lies on the banks of Periyar River near Kalady. The name Thottuva in Malayalam means "Mouth of the stream". Just as the name suggests, there is a small stream in the village, which joins the mightier Periyar river here. Thottuva is 40 kilometres (25 mi) away from the city of Kochi. The distance to Cochin International Airport is 15 kilometres (9.3 mi). The nearest railway station is Angamali (also 15 km).

Panekavu Bhagavati Shastha Temple is a temple in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam District, Kerala. The place where the temple stands has been considered holy, as this place was the hot spot for performing all rituals and poojas under the able management of a single person by the name "Chakyar". Over time, the sacred land was inherited by family members, generations after generations, but eventually had to be sold to an industrial company. However, it was said that Devi had already decided upon the fate of the holy land, and the land was then bought by a devotee named Sri. Sunil Dath with the intention of preserving the rich devotional and cultural heritage of the sacred land. Under the able guidance of a renowned astrologer, Sri. Gopalakrishna Varrier, Sri. Dath built separate shrines of Bhagvathy (known as Vana Durga), Sasthavu (Lord Ayyapan), and Bhadra Kali, along with Sarppathara and Rakshasa. The major factor which was strictly kept in mind while building the temple was the Vastu-Shastra principles. Today, Sri. Sunil Dath has succeeded in retaining the sacredness of the land with the same effervescence as it was during the time of its ancestors. The "Punaprathista" (process of setting up of the shrines at their respective places) was done by Tantri Kashankottu Manakkal Brahma Sri Damodaran Namboodiripaadu and Narayanan Namboodiri Padu. Since then, poojas are being done on a regular basis during the first Friday and Saturday of every English month. The beauty of the Temple's location is enhanced by the presence of a natural stream flowing by the side of the main temple. The stream has been dedicated to Lord Ayyapan, as the green stream resembles the Pamba River in Sabarimala, which is considered to be the abode of Lord Ayyapan. By the blessings of the Lord, the stream flows all throughout the year.
