Dromintee

Forkhill or Forkill ( fork-HIL, for-KIL; from Irish Foirceal, meaning 'trough/hollow') is a small village and civil parish in south County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the Ring of Gullion and in the 2011 Census it had a recorded population of 498. The population increased to 550 at the time of the 2021 Census. Forkhill was the settlement with the highest percentage of residents that identified as "Irish Only" in the 2021 census, 80.55%, 2.18% were "British Only". It lies within the former barony of Orior Upper. Its name, deriving from the Irish word foirceal may refer to the village's position on flat land between the large hills of Tievecrom (to the east) and Croslieve (to the west).

Tí Chulainn is a cultural, events and accommodation centre located in Mullaghbawn (Mullaghbann, Mullaghbane, An Mullach Bán) in South Armagh, in Northern Ireland. The centre is maintained by a not-for-profit local community group, Tí Chulainn Limited. The centre opened in 1999. Tí Chulainn has 16 en-suite bedrooms, conference facilities, a 70-seater audio visual theatre, and a large performance area. It has hosted several exhibitions. In 2006, Evelyn Glenholmes, who had been the subject of an unsuccessful extradition proceeding, was scheduled to speak at the centre. The centre has facilities to cater for disabled patrons in the main centre and accommodation block. The building was designed by Mackel & Doherty Architects. The South Armagh Genealogy Project is housed within Tí Chulainn, with microfiche record and census details, as is the Cuimhneamh project which aims to provide an extensive and ongoing archive of people's memories and experiences during recent history from the early 20th century to the present day, through audio/visual interviews, combined with documents and photographs.

Killeavy Castle is a Grade A listed 19th-century castle in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It was built for the Foxall family between 1810 and 1820 and was later designed to resemble Gosford Castle in Markethill, also in County Armagh. Plans for castle's restoration were announced in 2013 with a £1 million grant from Invest Northern Ireland.

The Ring of Gullion (Irish: Fáinne Cnoc Shliabh gCuillinn, meaning 'The Ring of Slieve Gullion') is a geological formation and area, officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, (AONB) located in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The area centres on Slieve Gullion, the highest peak in County Armagh, measures roughly 42 by 18 kilometres (26 by 11 mi) and comprises some 150 km2 defined topographically by the hills of an ancient ring dyke. Parts of the area have also been officially listed as Areas of Special Scientific Interest. The geological formation was the first ring dyke to be mapped, although its significance was not understood until similar structures had been described from Scotland. It was emplaced during the Paleogene opening of the Atlantic Ocean during the formation of the North Atlantic Igneous Province.

Moyry Castle (from the Irish Maġ Rí or "plain of the king") is situated in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It was built during the latter stages of the Nine Years' War in June 1601 by Lord Mountjoy to help secure Moyry Pass and the Gap of the North. It is set in the corner of a small bawn and is a small rectangular tower three storeys high. Moyry Castle is a State Care Historic Monument sited in the townland of Carrickbroad, in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area, at grid ref: J0576 1466.Moyry Castle, is built on solid rock, It is almost square, 8 metres (26') each way and is three stories high. There are musketry loopholes on each wall except the North facing wall. This wall held the fireplaces which protrude on the outside.

Slieve Gullion (from Irish Sliabh gCuillinn, meaning 'hill of the steep slope' or Sliabh Cuilinn, "Culann's mountain") is a mountain in the south of County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The mountain is the heart of the Ring of Gullion and is the highest point in the county, with an elevation of 573 metres (1,880 ft). At the summit is a small lake and two ancient burial cairns, one of which is the highest surviving passage grave in Ireland. Slieve Gullion appears in Irish mythology, where it is associated with the Cailleach and the heroes Fionn mac Cumhaill and Cú Chulainn. It dominates the countryside around it, offering views as far away as Antrim, Dublin Bay and Wicklow on a clear day. Slieve Gullion Forest Park is on its eastern slope. Villages around Slieve Gullion include Meigh, Drumintee, Forkhill, Mullaghbawn and Lislea. The mountain gives its name to the surrounding countryside, and is the name of an electoral area within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Adavoyle was a station in the rural townland of Adavoyle, near Dromintee, in County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The Battle of Moyry Pass was fought during September and October 1600 in counties Armagh and Louth, in the north of Ireland, during the Nine Years' War. It was the first significant engagement of forces following the cessation of arms agreed in the previous year between the Irish leader Hugh O'Neill and the English Crown commander, the Earl of Essex. The battle was fought by the armies of O'Neill and Lord Mountjoy, a follower of the late Earl of Essex. Mountjoy was determined to pierce O'Neill's heartland in central and western Ulster by the Moyry Pass. In the course of a two-week assault the English troops established a garrison near Armagh, taking heavy casualties, and Mountjoy retired with difficulty to Dundalk.

Roche Emmets GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that was founded in 1947. It fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Located in Rathduff outside the town of Dundalk, a short distance from the historic Roche Castle, the club draws its support from the neighbouring parishes of Kilcurry and Faughart in north Louth. As of 2023, Roche Emmets compete in the Louth Intermediate Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. Jamie O'Hare is the club's senior team manager.

Mullaghbawn ( mul-ə-BAWN or mul-ə-BAHN; from Irish an Mullach Bán, meaning 'the white hilltop'), or Mullaghbane, is a small village and townland near Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 596. At the 2021 Census this had risen to 642.

Meigh (from Irish Máigh/an Mhaigh, meaning 'the plain') is a small village and townland near Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It had a population of 444 people in the 2001 Census. It lies within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area.

Faughart (also written Fochart) is an early Christian ruins and shrine site just north of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. As a popular site for modern pilgrimages, it was the birthplace of St Brigid in 451 AD, and one of her relics is held in a church in nearby Kilcurry. Edward Bruce, a younger brother of Robert the Bruce, is buried in the graveyard on the hill above the shrine (54°03′06″N 6°23′03″W). Bruce, who had taken the title King of Ireland, was defeated and killed at the Battle of Faughart in 1318. Landmarks include St Brigid's stone and pillar, her shrine and well, and modern religious sites devoted to the saint that attract thousands of pilgrims and tourists, providing a massive boost to the local economy. Ruins include an Iron Age fort, a Norman motte-and-bailey castle, and a medieval church. Situated 3 km north of Dundalk and 6 km south of Forkill, and standing at the southern end of the Gap of the North/Moyry Pass, Faughart held huge strategic importance for many centuries and was the scene of many battles; one such legendary battle was fought by Cú Chulainn in the Táin.
