Mullaghbawn

Tí Chulainn is a cultural, events and accommodation centre located in Mullaghbawn (Mullaghbann, Mullaghbane, An Mullach Bán) in South Armagh, in Northern Ireland. The centre is maintained by a not-for-profit local community group, Tí Chulainn Limited. The centre opened in 1999. Tí Chulainn has 16 en-suite bedrooms, conference facilities, a 70-seater audio visual theatre, and a large performance area. It has hosted several exhibitions. In 2006, Evelyn Glenholmes, who had been the subject of an unsuccessful extradition proceeding, was scheduled to speak at the centre. The centre has facilities to cater for disabled patrons in the main centre and accommodation block. The building was designed by Mackel & Doherty Architects. The South Armagh Genealogy Project is housed within Tí Chulainn, with microfiche record and census details, as is the Cuimhneamh project which aims to provide an extensive and ongoing archive of people's memories and experiences during recent history from the early 20th century to the present day, through audio/visual interviews, combined with documents and photographs.

Ballykeel Dolmen is a neolithic tripod portal tomb and a State Care Historic Monument at the foot of the western flank of Slieve Gullion, above a tributary of the Forkhill river, in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area, at grid ref: H9950 2132. The dolmen sits at the southern end of a large cairn, of approximately 30x10 metres, the north end of which also contains a cist. Its three metre long capstone, with a notable notch similar to that of Legananny Dolmen, had previously fallen, but was re-set during excavations in 1963. Excavations of the chamber revealed different types of pottery, including three highly decorated "Ballyalton" bowls, and the cist contained several hundred sherds of Neolithic pottery, a javelin head, and three flint flakes.

Forkhill or Forkill ( fork-HIL, for-KIL; from Irish Foirceal, meaning 'trough/hollow') is a small village and civil parish in south County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the Ring of Gullion and in the 2011 Census it had a recorded population of 498. The population increased to 550 at the time of the 2021 Census. Forkhill was the settlement with the highest percentage of residents that identified as "Irish Only" in the 2021 census, 80.55%, 2.18% were "British Only". It lies within the former barony of Orior Upper. Its name, deriving from the Irish word foirceal may refer to the village's position on flat land between the large hills of Tievecrom (to the east) and Croslieve (to the west).

Silverbridge is a small village in the townland of Legmoylin in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the Newry and Mourne District Council area. In the 2011 Census it had a recorded population of 112. The local GAA club is Silverbridge Harps GFC, which plays football at Senior level in county competitions. The area was historically called Belanargit (from Béal Átha an Airgid meaning "ford mouth of the silver").

On 23 June 1988, an Army Air Corps (AAC) Westland Lynx, serial number XZ664, was shot down by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) near Aughanduff Mountain, County Armagh, in Northern Ireland. A unit of the IRA's South Armagh Brigade fired at the British Army helicopter using automatic rifles and heavy machine guns. The disabled helicopter was forced to crash-land in an open field; the aircraft and its crew were eventually recovered by British forces.

The Ring of Gullion (Irish: Fáinne Cnoc Shliabh gCuillinn, meaning 'The Ring of Slieve Gullion') is a geological formation and area, officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, (AONB) located in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The area centres on Slieve Gullion, the highest peak in County Armagh, measures roughly 42 by 18 kilometres (26 by 11 mi) and comprises some 150 km2 defined topographically by the hills of an ancient ring dyke. Parts of the area have also been officially listed as Areas of Special Scientific Interest. The geological formation was the first ring dyke to be mapped, although its significance was not understood until similar structures had been described from Scotland. It was emplaced during the Paleogene opening of the Atlantic Ocean during the formation of the North Atlantic Igneous Province.

Ballard (from Irish Baile Ard 'High Town, townland on the mountain') is a townland on the upper slopes of Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the parish of Killevy, Barony of Orior Upper and the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area. It is bordered by the townlands of Lislea, Aghmakane, Ballintemple, Levallymore and Slieve Gullion.

Slieve Gullion (from Irish Sliabh gCuillinn, meaning 'hill of the steep slope' or Sliabh Cuilinn, "Culann's mountain") is a mountain in the south of County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The mountain is the heart of the Ring of Gullion and is the highest point in the county, with an elevation of 573 metres (1,880 ft). At the summit is a small lake and two ancient burial cairns, one of which is the highest surviving passage grave in Ireland. Slieve Gullion appears in Irish mythology, where it is associated with the Cailleach and the heroes Fionn mac Cumhaill and Cú Chulainn. It dominates the countryside around it, offering views as far away as Antrim, Dublin Bay and Wicklow on a clear day. Slieve Gullion Forest Park is on its eastern slope. Villages around Slieve Gullion include Meigh, Drumintee, Forkhill, Mullaghbawn and Lislea. The mountain gives its name to the surrounding countryside, and is the name of an electoral area within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Lislea ( liss-LAY, from Irish Lios Liath, meaning 'Grey Ringfort') is a small village and townland near Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the civil parish of Killevy and the historic barony of Orior Upper. Today it is within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area. It borders the townlands of Ballard, Carricnagalliagh, Aghmakane, Duburren and Drumilly. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 84 people.

Dromintee or Drumintee (from Irish Druim an Tighe, meaning 'ridge of the house', or Droim an Tí in modern Irish) is a small village and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 364 people. It lies within the Newry and Mourne District Council area. It sits within the Ring of Gullion AONB.

Aughanduff (from Irish Áth an Daimh 'ford of the oxen') is a small village and townland in the civil parish of Forkhill, in the former barony of Orior Upper, and County of Armagh, Northern Ireland. The townland is roughly co-existent with Upper and Lower Aughanduff Mountains, both of which form part of the Ring of Gullion geological formation, which has been described as the most spectacular example of a ring-dyke intrusion in Ireland or Britain, and was the first ring dyke in the world to be geologically mapped. Aughanduff has been populated since prehistoric times and has been recorded as a distinct district since at least the early 1600s. The area's history is both well documented and reflects its location both in rural Ireland and on the borderlands of the Pale, the Plantation of Ulster, and latterly Northern Ireland; indeed, part of the district's northern boundary was proposed for forming part of the northern border of the Irish Free State by the Irish Boundary Commission in its final report of 1925. The Boundary Commission's report was never implemented and today, the area remains within Northern Ireland, some five miles from the border with the Republic of Ireland. Part of the area has been designated by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency as an Area of Special Scientific Interest, and the district lies within the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Dorsey or Dorsy (from Irish Na Doirse, meaning 'the gateways') is a small village and townland between Belleeks and Cullyhanna in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It has an estimated population of 130 to 160 people.
