Dundas, Ontario

Dundas Central Public School is a primary school located in Dundas, Ontario. It teaches students kindergarten to grade 8. Dundas Central is the second oldest school in Ontario. Dundas Central celebrated its 150th Anniversary on June 16, 2007.

Parkside High School was located at 31 Parkside Avenue, Dundas, Ontario, and was a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB). The school opened in 1960 and backed onto the Dundas escarpment. Parkside High School had a 2009–2010 enrollment of 700, and reported that 80% of its graduates attend post-secondary education. The school's mission statement was "Educating students to become lifelong learners and contributing citizens in a challenging, changing, multi-cultural world." The school also offered special education classes and had an ESL program. In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Parkside High School was noted as the school with the most involved students in HWDSB according to Director Malloy's Annual Report.The HWDSB announced on 15 May 2012 that Parkside High School would close in 2014, citing over $5 million in repair costs and almost 200 empty seats. The students attending Parkside were moved to Dundas Valley Secondary School, which will receive $15 million for renovations if approved by the Ministry of Education.Parkside closed in June 2014 at the end of the 2013/2014 school year. Demolition of the school began in January 2017.

The Desjardins Canal, named after its promoter Pierre Desjardins, was built to give Dundas, Ontario, easier access to Lake Ontario and the Great Lakes system of North America. Although a technological achievement and a short term commercial success, the canal was soon eclipsed by the railway, and Dundas by neighbouring Hamilton.

Spencer Gorge/Webster's Falls Conservation Area is located on the Niagara Escarpment in Dundas, Ontario, a constituent community of Hamilton, Ontario, and is owned and operated by the Hamilton Conservation Authority. It has views over Hamilton and a two major waterfalls that are accessible via a system of trails. The natural features found in the area are considered to be provincially significant. A shuttle service runs from Christie Lake Conservation Area to Spencer Gorge/Webster Falls Conservation Area, for visitors to access this conservation area on weekends and holidays.

Highland Secondary School was a high school in Dundas, Ontario that opened in 1966. The school was a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, in Ward 13. Highland was originally conceived to be 25% Academic and 75% Vocational, but evolved into a fully comprehensive secondary school. Only 60% of Highland Secondary School students who graduated pursued post-secondary education, making Highland one of the lowest in the board. Highland Secondary was renamed Dundas Valley Secondary in June 2014, when nearby Parkside Secondary closed.

It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, on October 19, 2015.

McMaster University Bus Terminal is a bus terminal located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The terminal is situated between the Mary E. Keyes Residence and H. G. Thode Library. GO Transit exclusively uses the terminal, while Hamilton Street Railway provides connecting routes. The terminal opened on April 5, 2007, with full accessibility and includes five bus bays, three heated shelters, and large platforms.

The McMaster Faculty of Engineering is a faculty located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The faculty was established in 1958 and was the first engineering program to developed problem-based learning curriculum. It currently has seven departments in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computing and software, electrical and computer engineering, engineering physics, material science and engineering and mechanical engineering. The faculty offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. The faculty is home to 1 Canada Excellence Research Chair, 13 Canada Research Chairs, 4 Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council chairs, and 14 Endowed Chairs.

The McMaster Institute of Environment and Health (MIEH), established in 1996, is a special program at McMaster University. The goal of MIEH is to facilitate, promote, and publish environmental health research. Research and study the complex relationships between the environment and human health.[1]
