Vejlby Church

Risskov Gymnasium is a school of secondary education and a Danish gymnasium in Aarhus, Denmark. The school is a financially independent self-owning educational institution under the Danish state. The school offers the 3 year matriculation examination (STX) programme within four main branches: natural sciences, political sciences, language and art.The school has approximately 800 students enlisted ranging from 15 to 19 years old with 10 new classes beginning every year. The student body is divided between 30 classes divided in Freshman, Junior and Senior year.

Bakken Bears is a Danish professional basketball club based in Aarhus. The club plays in the Basketligaen, the top tier basketball league in Denmark. Founded in 1953, the club has won the Basketligaen 20 times and holds the record for the most championships and has won 11 Danish Cups. Along with their domestic play, the club is a regular in European competitions. The Bears are a three-time semifinalist of the FIBA Europe Cup.

Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter ("Vejlby-Risskov Sports Centre") is a sports complex located in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the largest of its kind in East Jutland. The complex is situated in the district of Vejlby-Risskov in the northern part of Aarhus. Its central parts consist of Vejlby Stadium, home ground of association football club VSK Aarhus, and Vejlby-Risskov Hallen, the home of basketball team Bakken Bears.

Vejlby-Risskov Hallen is an indoor arena located in Aarhus, Denmark. It was inaugurated in 1969 and has a capacity for 1,152 spectators. The building is part of the large sports complex of Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter, comprising several other sports halls and facilities. Vejlby-Risskov Hallen is home to the handball club SK Aarhus and the basketball Club Bakken Bears. In addition to sports events and daily training, Vejlby-Risskov Hallen is occasionally used as a music and event venue. In the 1970s and 1980s many notable artists performed at the arena, including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Rainbow.

Vejlby Stadium (Danish: Vejlby Stadion) is an association football facility in Risskov, Denmark. It is the home stadium of 3rd Division club VSK Aarhus which is a merger between the former tenants of the stadium, IK Skovbakken and Vejlby IK. Constructed in 1969, it is part of the sports complex, known as Vejlby-Risskov Sports Centre (Danish: Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter), owned by Aarhus Municipality. Record attendance at Vejlby Stadium occurred on 7 September 1978, when IK Skovbakken faced local rivals AGF in the Danish Superliga, then called 1st Division. 11,763 spectators saw the home team lose 2–4.

Børglum Hall (Danish: Børglum Kollegiet) is a dormitory in the Vejlby neighborhood in Aarhus, Denmark. It is situated at the Vejlby Ringvej ring road next to the Veri Center shopping mall. The dormitory complex consists of a building cluster of seven free standing four-story buildings in yellow brick, designed by architect Harald Salling-Mortensen and completed in 1967, and a newer addition of three apartment blocks from 1992. Børglum is a self-owning institution which can house up to 489 students, of any grade or gender, within cycling distance of Aarhus University.

Ellevang Church (Danish: Ellevang Kirke) is a church in Aarhus, Denmark. The church is situated in the northern Risskov neighbourhood on the street Jellebakken. Ellevang Church is a parish church, and the only church in Ellevang Parish, under the Diocese of Aarhus and within the Church of Denmark, the Danish state church. The church serves some 10.000 parishioners in Ellevang Parish and holds weekly sermons along with weddings, burials and baptisms.The history of Ellevang Church stems from the population growth in Vejlby Parish during the 1960s. The parish had grown to some 15.000 inhabitants so it had become necessary to build a new church relieve the existing ones in Vejlby Parish and Vejl-Risskov Parish. Vejlby Parish had been divided in 1940 and Risskov Parish with Risskov Church, inaugurated in 1934, had been created. Vejlby Parish sought permission from the government to construct a new church in the north of Vejlby which was granted in 1973 on the condition that the new parish borders were drawn exclusively within Vejlby Parish. The new parish became Ellevang Parish which today has some 10.000 parishioners.Construction of the church was initiated on 21 September 1973 and includes a few bricks from the 800 year old Vejlby Church as a symbol of the close connection to it. The church was completed and inaugurated on 1 December 1974 by the bishop of the time, Henning Høirup. The name of the parish and church was selected by the parishioners by popular vote as a reference to a medieval name of the area. The new parish shared the pastorate with Vejlby church until 1974 when the parish had grown to almost 6000 parishioners and the church got its own priest. Ellevang Church does not have its own cemetery and still shares the Vejlby Church cemetery.

Vejlby is a north-eastern neighbourhood of Aarhus in Denmark. It is located 5km from the city centre and is administratively part of the district of Risskov. The neighbourhood of Vejlby was administratively merged with Risskov at the end of the 20th century and as a consequence, the district is often seen referred to as Vejlby-Risskov nowadays. There are several other places named Vejlby in Denmark, like the small village in the vicinity of Grenå on Mols, featured in the acclaimed novella "The Rector of Veilbye" by Steen Steensen Blicher. Once a village and a suburb, Vejlby has now completely merged with the city of Aarhus, but can still present areas characterised by the old village around the old church and graveyard. Modern buildings of note, are the shopping mall of Veri Center, the dormitory of Børglum Kollegiet with its notable architecture, a nursing and retirement centre, the large sports complex of Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter, the large residential areas of Veriparken, Næringen & Nyringen and Kantorparken. Important educational buildings comprise the Risskov Gymnasium (STX) and Handelsgymnasiet Vejlby (HHX). The only notable green area in Vejlby is Mollerup Skov.

Skirmish of Århus or Rytterfægtningen on 31 May 1849 was a skirmish during the First Schleswig War between Denmark and Prussia under the German Confederation, a few kilometers north of the city of Aarhus, Denmark. The skirmish was a Danish victory that had the effect of stopping the Prussian advance through the peninsula of Jutland at the city of Aarhus.

Aarhus N is a postal district in the city of Aarhus, consisting of Trøjborg, Risskov, Vejlby, Skejby, Vorrevangen and Christiansbjerg, all with postal code 8200. Aarhus N is an abbreviation for Aarhus Nord (lit. "Aarhus North") and is located north of the city centre. It is the highest lying area of Aarhus. Many of the neighborhoods in the district were once small, separated farms and villages, but developed and grew through the Industrial Revolution and later merged with the rest of Aarhus. Aarhus N has 34,512 inhabitants (2016 statistics).

Mollerup Skov (Mollerup Forest) is a 97 hectare relatively new forest situated in the northern outskirts of the city of Aarhus, Denmark. In the neighbourhood of Vejlby and Skejby between Skejbyvej, Langengevej and Skejby Nordlandsvej to be precise. Mollerup Skov is part of the New Forests of Aarhus.

Riisvangen Stadion (Danish: [ˈʁisˌvɑŋˀn̩], "Riis Meadow") is an association football stadium in Aarhus N. It is the home stadium of Danish 2nd Division club Aarhus Fremad. Stadium capacity is 5,000, but the attendance record is 3,200 which occurred when the club competed in the Danish Superliga, in a matchup against Ikast fS on 2 November 1997. Riisvangen Stadion was constructed in the 1936 on the initiative of Aarhus Municipality. During this period, the population of Aarhus had experienced a large population growth concentrated around northern Aarhus, known as Aarhus N, and the construction of a sports facility would facilitate needs to nurture sports in the area. The stadium was built in an area which, at that time, was devoid of buildings.Initially, IK Skovbakken used the stadium as their home ground before the club moved to the newly established sports complex Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter.In April 2018, a new wooden stand was initiated against Brønshøj Boldklub. On 4 October 2019, Fremad announced a sponsorship deal with Royal Unibrew, which meant that the stand was named "Faxe Kondi Tribunen", after the soft drink produced by the company.
