Woodmansterne railway station is a railway station which primarily serves the western areas of Coulsdon in the London Borough of Croydon, England. Situated on the Tattenham Corner line, it is 17 miles 40 chains (28.2 km) from London Charing Cross. For ticketing purposes the station is in London Travelcard Zone 6. The station has a single island platform, which can be reached by a footbridge, and there is a ticket office on the platform. All trains serving Woodmansterne are operated by Southern, which also manages the station. Despite its name, the station is not located in Woodmansterne itself, which actually lies just under 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of the station and is on the other side of the Greater London boundary in Surrey.

It is 17 miles 3 chains (27.42 km) measured from London Charing Cross. The station is served by Southern and by Thameslink. It is the most southerly mainline station in London.

Farthing Downs is an open space in Coulsdon in the London Borough of Croydon. Together with Eight Acres Common and New Hill to the south-east, it is owned and managed by the Corporation of London. Farthing Downs and Eight Acres Common are part of the Farthing Downs and Happy Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest. Happy Valley Park is a green space to the south owned by Croydon Council. Farthing Downs is also a scheduled monument. Farthing Downs is a long strip of grassland with pockets of ancient woodland, which narrows to a point at the northern end. It is the most extensive area of semi-natural downland left in Greater London. Its chalk and natural grasslands have a large variety of rare herbs, including some which are nationally scarce, such as the wildflower greater yellow-rattle. This is specially protected by legislation and Farthing Downs and Happy Valley have the major part of the British population.

Coulsdon (, traditionally pronounced ), is a town in south London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. Coulsdon was an ancient parish in the county of Surrey that included the settlements of Purley and Kenley. It was merged with Sanderstead in 1915 to form the Coulsdon and Purley Urban District and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

Chipstead is a predominantly commuter village in north-east Surrey, England, that has been a small ecclesiastical parish since the Domesday Survey of 1086. Its rolling landscape meant that Chipstead's development was late and restricted compared to parishes of comparable distance from London. Coulsdon West was a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, covering part of the Coulsdon area of London in the United Kingdom. The ward formed part of Chris Philp MP's Croydon South constituency, which has one of the highest majority's for the Conservative Party in London. At the 2011 Census the population of the ward was 13,449.The ward returned three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2006 Croydon Council election, Gavin Barwell, Brian Cakebread and David Osland were elected to the council. All of them were running as Conservative Party candidates. In the ward the Labour Party's highest ranking candidate got only 481 votes, one of the lowest for them in London.

The ward currently forms part of Chris Philp MP's Croydon South constituency, which has one of the highest majority's for the Conservative Party in London. The ward largely replaced the Coulsdon West ward following boundary changes for the 2018 election.

Coulsdon Town railway station serves the northern part of Coulsdon, in the London Borough of Croydon. It is on the Tattenham Corner line 16 miles 46 chains (26.7 km) from Charing Cross and opened on 1 January 1904. Until 22 May 2011 it was called Smitham.

Chipstead railway station serves the village of Chipstead in Surrey. It is a late-Victorian station on the Tattenham Corner Line and was opened in 1897. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Southern. It is in Travelcard Zone 6, 18 miles 41 chains (29.8 km) from Charing Cross. The station buildings are no longer used by Southern, having been sold off and converted for private use in the mid-late 1990s, and a small ticket office is in a pre-fabricated building on the Up platform.
