Ridgewood Country Club

The 5th Ryder Cup Matches were held at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey, a suburb northwest of New York City in Bergen County. The United States team won the competition by a score of 9–3 points to regain the cup. The U.S. took a 3–2 lead in the series, all of which were won on home soil. It was the first of seven consecutive wins by the U.S. side, which did not lose again until 1957 in England.

Paramus ( pə-RAM-əs) is a borough in the central portion of Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. A suburban bedroom community of New York City, Paramus is located 15 to 20 miles (24 to 32 km) northwest of Midtown Manhattan and approximately 8 miles (13 km) west of Upper Manhattan. The borough's name is thought to have originated from the Unami language spoken by the Lenape Native Americans, derived from words meaning "land of the turkeys" or "pleasant stream."Paramus has some of the most restrictive blue laws in the United States, dating back to the 17th century, banning nearly all white-collar and retail businesses from opening on Sundays except for gas stations, restaurants and grocery stores, and a limited number of other businesses. Despite this, the borough is one of the largest shopping destinations in the country, generating over $6 billion in annual retail sales, more than any other ZIP Code in the United States.

Bergen Community College is a public community college in Bergen County, New Jersey. It was founded in 1965 and opened in 1968. As of November 2021, it is the largest community college in the state, with sites in Paramus, Hackensack, and Lyndhurst and 13,352 students enrolled in degree programs, as well as approximately 5,800 in continuing and adult education programs. Federal data rank Bergen graduates first in earning the highest salaries among their peers from the state's 19 two-year institutions, and even out-earning peers from some four-year colleges. The Frisch School, also known as Yeshivat Frisch , is a coeducational, Modern Orthodox, yeshiva high school located in Paramus, in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was founded in 1972 by Rabbi Menachem Meier and Alfred Frisch. The school primarily serves the Jewish communities of northern New Jersey, and New York. The school is named for founder Alfred Frisch, who owned the land on which the original campus was situated prior to the school's inception in 1972. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1992. Its accreditation expires in 2029. Over the last ten years, under the current administration, the student population has grown from 580 to nearly 1000 students. Frisch School is located at 120 West Century Road in Paramus. The campus has 41 classrooms, a learning center, six science laboratories, gymnasium, library, music and art studios, a Beit Midrash, a makerspace (fab lab), and a publications room. Outdoors, the campus has a softball field, tennis courts, a basketball-hockey, and a soccer field encircled by a running track. The campus is named in honor of Henry Swieca, who donated the campus.

Terhune–Gardner–Lindenmeyr House is located in Paramus, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1707 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 1972.

The Midland School is located in Paramus, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The schoolhouse was built in 1876 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 7, 1978. The building is currently used as the Charles E. Reid branch of the Paramus Public Library and should not be confused with the later-built elementary school next door which is also named Midland School.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (previously known as Bergen Regional Medical Center) is an acute and long-term care hospital located in Paramus, New Jersey, US. The hospital campus also houses a nursing home and a mental health facility. The facility first opened in 1916 as the Bergen County Isolation Hospital, housing patients with tuberculosis and other contagious diseases. It later became known as Bergen Pines, inspired by the planting of more than 1,000 young pine trees donated in 1924 by Hackensack's Pioneer Masonic Lodge. In 1998, Bergen County contracted with the Solomon Health Group to form Bergen Regional Medical Center.
