Ulster University at Coleraine

Ulster University (Irish: Ollscoil Uladh; Ulster Scots: Ulstèr Universitie or Ulstèr Varsitie), legally the University of Ulster, is a multi-campus public university located in Northern Ireland. It is often referred to informally and unofficially as Ulster, or by the abbreviation UU. It is the largest university in Northern Ireland and the second-largest university on the island of Ireland, after the federal National University of Ireland. Established in 1865 as Magee College, the college took its modern form in 1984 after the merger of the New University of Ulster established in 1968 and Ulster Polytechnic, incorporating its four Northern Irish campuses under the University of Ulster banner. The university incorporated its four campuses in 1984; located in Belfast, Coleraine, Derry (Magee College), and Jordanstown. The university has branch campuses in both London and Birmingham, and an extensive distance learning provision. The university rebranded as Ulster University from October 2014 and this included a revised visual identity, though its legal name remained unchanged. It has one of the highest further study and employment rates in the UK, with over 92% of graduates being in work or further study six months after graduation. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, Universities Ireland and Universities UK.

The Riverside Theatre is located at the Coleraine campus of Ulster University in Northern Ireland. It was opened in 1976 and is the fifth-largest professional theatre in Northern Ireland. It is architecturally unique in Northern Ireland for its flexible staging facilities. The Riverside Theatre won a design award in the year of its completion, and another shortly after for its provision for disabled patrons. It is an established touring venue. It features productions from all over the UK, Europe and North America. The Riverside programme incorporates drama, contemporary dance, rock bands, ballet, opera, variety, children's shows, pantomime, music recitals and recordings for television and radio.

University is a halt serving the University of Ulster at Coleraine in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is within the townland of Ballysally in the north of Coleraine. It is a single line halt on the Coleraine-Portrush railway line with a single platform and shelter and is unstaffed. The halt is often extremely busy, given its proximity to the University. Portrush has a large number of students living in it and many of them use the train as transport. It is also used by many passengers to connect to the mainline station at Coleraine for onward journeys to Derry and Belfast.It was opened on 12 June 1968.

The Bann Bridge is a railway bridge in Coleraine, County Londonderry. It is the only railway bascule bridge in Northern Ireland.

County Hall is a municipal facility in Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It served as the headquarters of Londonderry County Council from 1960 to 1973.

The Causeway Institute of Further and Higher Education (informally Causeway Institute or CIFHE) was a third-level educational institution in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. The Causeway Institute was located on two campuses: Coleraine, County Londonderry and Ballymoney, County Antrim.

Coleraine Castle was a castle situated at Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The Annals of Ulster reports that the Earl of Atholl, Thomas fitz Roland, built the castle in 1214. It was later destroyed by Hugh de Lacy and the King of Tír Eoghain, Aodh Méith Ó Néill, as evidenced by the same source in 1223.The Annals of Ulster also reports that Thomas reconstructed the castle in 1228. There is evidence to suggest that Thomas may not have been in any position to carry out reconstruction efforts. In 1225, he was owed an annuity of 100 marks in compensation for his Irish losses. In 1227, he declared that he had been impoverished through serving the English Crown in Ireland. If it wasn't Thomas was reconstructed Coleraine Castle, it is possible that Hugh did. However, the only record of Hugh operating in Thomas' lands occurs almost two decades later, in 1241.

Coleraine Town Hall is a municipal structure in The Diamond in Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The town hall, which was the headquarters of Coleraine Borough Council, is a Grade B1 listed building.

Coleraine was a constituency represented in the Irish House of Commons from 1611 to 1800. Between 1725 and 1793 Catholics and those married to Catholics could not vote.

Coleraine Borough Council was a local council mainly in County Londonderry and partly in County Antrim in Northern Ireland. It merged with Ballymoney Borough Council, Limavady Borough Council and Moyle District Council in May 2015 under local government reorganisation in Northern Ireland to become Causeway Coast and Glens District Council Its headquarters were in the town of Coleraine. Small towns in the area include Garvagh, Portrush, Portstewart and Kilrea. Coleraine Borough Council consisted of four electoral areas: Coleraine East, Coleraine Central, The Skerries and Bann. The council last had 22 members from the following political parties: 8 Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), 6 Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), 3 Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP), 2 Alliance Party 1 Sinn Féin and 2 Independent. Unionist-controlled Coleraine Borough Council operated a rotation for positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor between the UUP, DUP and the Irish nationalist SDLP. The last election was due to take place in May 2009, but on 25 April 2008, Shaun Woodward, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland announced that the scheduled 2009 district council elections were to be postponed until the introduction of the eleven new councils in 2011. The proposed reforms were abandoned in 2010, and the most recent district council elections took place in 2011The borough council area, together with the neighbouring district of Limavady and part of Derry City Council, formed the East Londonderry constituency for elections to the Westminster Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly.

County Coleraine, called the County of Colerain in the earliest documents, was one of the counties of Ireland from 1585 to 1613. It was named after its intended county town, Coleraine.

The Old Courthouse is a former judicial facility on Castlerock Road in Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is a Grade B1 listed building.
