Hagåtña, formerly Agana or Agaña, is a coastal village and the capital of the United States territory of Guam. From the 18th through mid-20th century, it was Guam's population center, but today, it is the second smallest of the island's 19 villages in both area and population. However, it remains one of the island's major commercial districts in addition to being the seat of government.

The Legislature of Guam (Chamorro: Lehislaturan Guåhan) is the law-making body for the United States territory of Guam. The unicameral legislative branch consists of fifteen senators, each serving for a two-year term. All members of the legislature are elected at-large with the island under one whole district. After the enactment of the Guam Organic Act in 1950, the First Guam Legislature was elected composing of 21 elected members. Today, the current fifteen-member 37th Guam Legislature (Chamorro: I Mina' Trentai Siette Na Lehislaturan Guåhan) was elected in November 2022. The next election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.

Paseo Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Agana, Guam. It is currently used mostly for baseball matches. In the late 1970s with baseball popularity soaring and the success of the Guam Major League (GML) and youth baseball, the need for a new Guam baseball facility was in demand. The new Paseo Stadium, located at the Paseo de Susana in Hagatna replaced the old Paseo Ballpark on the same site. The old ballpark was falling into disrepair. The once-proud facility, tarnished through time, featured rusted steel girders and rock-hard wood-planked bleachers, which seated 1,100 baseball fans. The new Paseo Stadium construction was a special project spearheaded by Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority (GHURA) chairman Mr. Robert J. Torres. With 1.2 million dollars in funding from GHURA and the Government of Guam Department of Commerce, along with full support from Governor Paul Calvo, the new stadium was constructed in 1981. The new baseball facility featured locker and shower rooms, concession booths, offices, walk-in dugouts and an elevated press box. The new stadium was constructed within the confines of the upgraded Paseo Ballpark 1979 lighting system. Only one of the existing light poles was relocated to accommodate the new Paseo Stadium space requirements. The new concrete and hollow-block facility originally featured aluminum bench seating. With additional portable bleachers, the facility capacity was increased to 2,800 seats. Years later the stadium seating was upgraded to individual stadium seats thus increasing spectator comfort while reducing original seating capacity. On January 9, 1982, the new Paseo Stadium opened with the start of the 1982 Guam Major league baseball season. Before a twin-bill opening day crowd of 1,327 fans, the Atkins Kroll Islanders behind the pitching of Eddie Aguon defeated the Miller Stars 4–1. The University of Guam Tritons outscored the Ace Hardware Aces 10–8 in the second game. May 12, 1987, saw the largest crowd ever to attend a baseball game at the Paseo. An overflow standing room only crowd of 4,397 fans, many on the outfield wall and scoreboard, jammed Paseo Stadium for the GML Championship series seventh and deciding game between the Pepsi Giants and the University of Guam. Over the years, the Paseo Stadium has served as venue for baseball tournaments such as the Micronesian Games, Mobil Games, Little League regional playoff games and the Western Pacific Invitational Baseball Tournament. In June 1999, the facility hosted the first ever South Pacific Games (SPG) baseball tournament. Just days later the stadium served as venue for the 1999 Baseball Confederation of Oceania (BCO) championship tournament. The Guam national team captured both tournaments with stunning come-from-behind victories over American Samoa for SPG gold and the BCO title.

Paseo de Susana is a small peninsula that forms part of the city of Hagåtña, Guam. It was built in the 1940s from rubble and debris left behind after World War II. The peninsula contains the multipurpose Paseo Stadium, Chamorro Village, Chief Quipuha Park, and a small replica of the Statue of Liberty. Gregorio D. Perez Marina borders the northern edge of the peninsula and it is separated from the rest of Hagåtña by Marine Corps Drive.

The Hagåtña River is a river in the United States territory of Guam. Hagåtña, the capital of Guam, is located at the mouth of the river and associated wetlands form the eastern boundary of the city. The river mouth is depicted on both the Seal of Guam and Flag of Guam. The river used to substantially parallel the shoreline, with the river emptying into the sea west of the current Paseo de Susana and marina. However, following the devastation of the U.S. bombardment during the 1944 battle, U.S. Navy Seabees rerouted the river to its current, more direct course to the sea. This resulted in landmarks such as the Agana Spanish Bridge no longer having water flow beneath it. The most common fish found in the river is the Eastern Pacific Bonito. Other nearby bodies of water include, the Hagåtña Boat Channel, Hagåtña Bay, Agana Swamp and Asan Bay.

The Agana Spanish Bridge (Spanish: Puente Español de Agaña) is a stone arch bridge built in 1800 in Hagåtña, Guam (formerly known as Agana), during the administration of Spanish governor Manuel Muro. It is the only surviving Spanish bridge in Hagåtña, which is the capital of the United States territory of Guam. Also known as Sagon I Tolai Acho, it is located at the southwest corner of Aspenall St. and Rte. 1 and was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Originally it crossed the Hagåtña River, which had been diverted, and it connected the San Ignacio district to the Bilibic district. The bridge was damaged in bombardment during the U.S. recapture of Guam from Japan in 1944. The Hagåtña River was rechanneled elsewhere, later; the site became a park and the bridge was restored in 1966. The restoration included replacing portions of the bridge by a "stylized concrete wall". A rectangular cement pond area replaced the former riverbed under the bridge.

The Guam Museum, formally the Senator Antonio M. Palomo Guam Museum & Chamorro Educational Facility, is a museum focusing on the history of Guam, a U.S. territory in Micronesia. A permanent building to house the museum's collection opened in Hagåtña on November 4, 2016. The Guam Museum had been housed in temporary locations since World War II.

The Guam Congress Building, also known as the Guam Legislature Building, is the seat of the Legislature of Guam and is located in Chalan Santo Papa in Hagåtña, Guam. It was built in 1949 by Pacific Island Buildings and of Brown & Root Pacific Bridge & Maxon. It has served as a capitol and as a courthouse building. It is a Modern Movement-style building that was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2007. It is significant for its role in the history of the Chamorro people and their effort to end the dominant military rule of the United States Navy in 1950. The legislature moved to a new location in 1989 and two wings of the building were taken down; the building was then converted to house government offices. In December 2016, a restoration and energy efficiency upgrade of the Congress Building was completed, allowing the Legislature of Guam to reconvene in the building from January 2017 onwards, returning Senators to the historic structure full-time after a 27-year absence.

Chief Quipuha Park is located on the Paseo de Susana peninsula, in the north of the city of Hagåtña, in the United States territory of Guam . Like the rest of the peninsula, the area was created after World War II from bulldozed debris from the ruined city. It is named for Kepuha (Quipuha), the chief who gave land to Diego Luis de San Vitores for the first European settlement on the island at Hagåtña.

Guam Public Library System (Chamoru: Sisteman Laibirihan Pupbleko Guåhan) is the public library system of the United States territory of Guam. The main library is the Nieves M. Flores Memorial Library at 254 Martyr Street in the village of Hagåtña.

Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral Basilica (Spanish: Catedral Basílica del Dulce Nombre de María) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Guam. It is the seat of the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Agaña. It is located on the site where the island's first Catholic church was constructed in 1669, under the guidance of Father Diego San Vitores. The present building looms above the palm trees and is a familiar landmark in downtown Hagåtña. The basilica enshrines the image of Santa Marian Kamalen, Patroness of Guam.

The Plaza de España (Spain Square) located in central Hagåtña, the capital of the United States territory of Guam, was the location of the Governors Palace during the island's long period of Spanish occupation. Most of the palace was destroyed during the shelling of Hagåtña during the reconquest of Guam in World War II. There are three structures still standing including the three-arch gate to Almacen (Arsenal), the azotea or back porch, and the Chocolate House. The plaza was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
