Damascus, Pennsylvania

The Cochecton–Damascus Bridge, sometimes called the Cochecton Dam Road Bridge, crosses the Delaware River in the United States between the unincorporated hamlet of Cochecton, in Sullivan County, New York, and Damascus Township, in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. On the Pennsylvania side it is the eastern terminus of State Route 371; in New York its approach road is County Route 114. It was built in 1950; bridges have crossed the river at that point since 1819.Those early bridges replaced ferry services that had to replace them when they collapsed or were washed away during floods. By the late 19th century a private company had built a toll bridge at the site which proved stable. It was eventually bought by a joint commission established by both states, which abolished the toll. A lawsuit against New York over the construction of the current bridge ended in a holding that the state itself could be sued over actions of the commission since that body was not sufficiently distinct from the state, and sovereign immunity did not apply.

Cochecton Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church on Co. Rd. 114, E of Delaware R. Bridge in Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York, United States. It was built in 1903 and is a cross gabled, wood-frame structure featuring a corner bell tower. The interior is designed on the Akron Plan.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Ellery Calkins House is a historic home located at Cochecton in Sullivan County, New York. It was built about 1890 and is a large, two story frame Queen Anne style dwelling. Damascus Historic District, is a national historic district located within Damascus Village in Damascus Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 36 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 2 contributing structures in the community of Damascus. The buildings are in a variety of popular architectural styles including Greek Revival, Queen Anne, and Renaissance Revival. Notable buildings include the Baptist Church (c. 1832), Damascus Academy, Vail and Appley Store (c. 1860), Methodist Church (1857), Philip O'Reilly House (c. 1840), and Luther Appley House (c. 1850). The sites are the Hillside Cemetery and Overlook Cemetery.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 by Dr. Brent D. Glass.

Reilly's Store is a historic general store located at Cochecton in Sullivan County, New York. It was built about 1860 and is a 2-story, wooden, three-by-six-bay, gable-fronted building of post and beam construction. The first floor was occupied by a store and the second was for residential use. Owned throughout the 20th century by J.W. Dermody, and later Frank P. and Katherine Reilly, the general store ran until Mr. Reilly's death in 1957. In the early 1990s, the building was purchased and restored by Bob and Mary Ann White, who owned and operated Reilly's Ice Cream Parlor and Museum from 1994 til September 5, 2000. The museum featured artifacts of the White's collection from toys and tools of the early 20th century to a model "downtown" hallway, complete with miniature store fronts for the butcher shop, seamstress, post office, barber, and more. A favorite for adults and children was the model train that circled the ceiling of museum and ice cream parlor. Behind the Reilly Store sits a barn painted with advertisement aimed at the passenger rail line that ran directly behind the store. The Castoria Barn advertises for Fletcher's Castoria Oil, used as a children's laxative. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The name is derived from the Lenape word "cushetunk" meaning "place of red stone hills". The Town of Cochecton (its official name) is situated on the Delaware River, directly across from Damascus, Pennsylvania, to which a bridge over the river provides access.

It features a 1+1⁄2-story central block built about 1810, flanked by 1-story wings added about 1840 and 1850. Old Cochecton Cemetery is a historic cemetery located at Cochecton in Sullivan County, New York, United States. It was established about 1774 and believed to contain about 150 burials. The earliest extant markers date to 1798 and 1809.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Cochecton Railroad Station is a historic train station located at Cochecton in Sullivan County, New York. It was built about 1850 by the Erie Railroad as a freight house. It is a large, 1-story frame building with Greek Revival style details. The 1+1⁄2-story, rectangular building measures 30 feet wide and 50 feet deep and is topped by a gable roof. The last passenger trains at Cocheton were unnamed trains from Hoboken, New Jersey to Binghamton timed to meet up with the Phoebe Snow.It is the oldest surviving station in New York state. It was moved from its original site in the early 1990s to be saved from demolition. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Page House is a historic home located at Cochecton in Sullivan County, New York. It was built in 1892 is a large two story, cross gabled, frame Queen Anne style dwelling. It features asymmetrical massing, picturesque roofline, domed corner tower, decorative shingled surfaces, and an elaborately detailed verandah. An extension was added in 1905. Also on the property are a springhouse and small barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
