St Patrick's and St Brigid's College is a secondary school located in Claudy, just outside Derry, Northern Ireland.

The Claudy bombing occurred on 31 July 1972, when three car bombs exploded mid-morning, two on Main Street and one on Church Street in Claudy in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The attack killed nine civilians, injured thirty and became known as "Bloody Monday". Those who planted the bombs had attempted to send a warning before the explosions took place. The warning was delayed, however, because the telephones were out of order due to an earlier bomb attack. The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) issued an immediate denial of responsibility, and later stated that "an internal court of inquiry" had found that its local unit did not carry out the attack. On the thirtieth anniversary of the bombing, there was a review of the case and in December 2002 it was revealed that the IRA had been responsible for the bomb explosions.On 24 August 2010, following an eight-year investigation, the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland published a report into the bombing, which stated that the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) believed in the early 1970s that Father James Chesney, a local Roman Catholic priest, was the IRA's quartermaster and Director of Operations of the South Derry Brigade. The report found that the possibility of his involvement in activities including the Claudy bombing was covered up by senior police officers, government ministers and the Roman Catholic hierarchy.

Claudy (from Irish Clóidigh, meaning 'the one who washes/the strong-flowing one') is a village and townland (of 1,154 acres) in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It lies in the Faughan Valley, 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Derry, where the River Glenrandal joins the River Faughan. It is situated in the civil parish of Cumber Upper and the historic barony of Tirkeeran. It is also part of Derry and Strabane district. Claudy had a population of 1,336 people in the 2011 census. It has two primary schools, two churches and a college named St Patrick's and St. Brigid's College.

Lisbunny (from Irish Lios Buinighe, meaning 'fort of the flood') is a townland of 849 acres in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, about 3 miles Claudy, near the County Tyrone/Londonderry border. It is situated within Derry and Strabane district as well as the civil parish of Cumber Upper and the historic barony of Tirkeeran.It is a rural farming area with few amenities, although it does contain a stone quarry.

John Mitchel's GAC Claudy (Irish: CLG Seán Uí Mhisteil Clóidigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Claudy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and currently caters for Gaelic football. The club is named after Irish patriot and revolutionary John Mitchel, as is that in Glenullin in the same county. John Mitchel's Claudy GAC is the oldest club in County Londonderry and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2013. Claudy fields boys' and girls' football teams at Under-6, U-8 and U-10; boys'/men's teams at U-12, U-14, U-16, Minor, Reserve and Senior levels; and ladies teams at Under-12, U-14, U-16 and Senior levels. Underage teams up to U-12s play in North Derry league and championships, from U-14 upwards teams compete in All-Derry competitions. The club currently competes in the Derry Senior Football Championship and Division 1 of the Derry All-County Football League.

Burntollet Bridge was the setting for an attack on 4 January 1969 during the first stages of the Troubles of Northern Ireland. A People's Democracy march from Belfast to Derry was attacked by Ulster loyalists whilst passing through Burntollet. The march had been called in defiance of an appeal by Northern Ireland Prime Minister Terence O'Neill for a temporary end to protest. The Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association and some Derry nationalists had advised against it. Supporters of Ian Paisley, led by Major Ronald Bunting, denounced the march as seditious and mounted counter-demonstrations along the route.At Burntollet an Ulster loyalist crowd numbering in the region of 300, including 100 off-duty members of the Ulster Special Constabulary (USC), attacked the civil rights marchers from adjacent high ground. Stones transported in bulk from William Leslie's quarry at Legahurry were used in the assault, as well as iron bars and sticks spiked with nails. Nearby members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) did little to prevent the violence. Many of the marchers described their assailants' lack of concern about the police presence. The violence was followed by renewed riots in Derry City. Terence O'Neill described the march as "a foolhardy and irresponsible undertaking" and said that some of the marchers and their supporters in Derry were "mere hooligans", outraging many, especially as the attackers had evaded prosecution. Loyalists celebrated the attack as a victory over Catholic "rebels".The ambush at Burntollet irreparably damaged the credibility of the RUC. Professor Paul Bew, an academic at Queen's University Belfast who as a student had participated in the march, described it as "the spark that lit the prairie fire" (i.e. led to the Troubles).

Goshedan (from Irish Geosadán, meaning '(place of) thistle') is a hamlet and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 90 people. It is situated within the Derry and Strabane district. Goshedan is situated astride the Ardmore Road close to the River Faughan some 9 kilometres from the City. It originally comprised 2 public authority housing estates. The northern part of the settlement lies within the proposed Area of High Scenic Value along the Faughan valley.

Foreglen (Irish: An Forghleann, "The Outer Glenn") is a village in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Around 1900 it was known as Ballymoney (not to be confused with the County Antrim town of Ballymoney).

Ballyrory (from Irish Baile Rudhraighe, meaning 'The townland of Rory') is a small village and townland (of 426 acres) in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the civil parish of Cumber Upper and the historic barony of Tirkeeran.It had a population of 68 people (25 households) in the 2011 Census. It is situated within Derry and Strabane district.

Tamnaherin (possibly from the Irish: Tamhnach Caorthainn) is a townland and small housing estate in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 123 people. It is situated within Derry and Strabane district.

Lettershandoney or Lettershendony (from Irish Leitir Seanduine, meaning 'hillside of the old people' or Leitir Seandomhnaigh meaning "hillside of the old church") is a small village and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, six miles to the southeast of Derry and three miles east of Drumahoe. In the 2001 census it had a population of 506 people. It is situated within Derry and Strabane district. Lettershandoney has ten recorded spellings of its name, dating back to 1613.In 2009 Lettershandoney and District Development Group carried out a community audit, highlighting the problems of the Lettershandoney Estate, the main housing area of the village, in terms of high unemployment, poverty and ill health, vandalism and alcohol and drug abuse, as well as lack of community facilities. In August 2011, a Lettershandoney Strategic Vision and Action Plan was produced by consultants on behalf of ARC (Assisting Rural Communities) north west. The resulting village plan aims to enhance community facilities and services, as well as environmental quality and transport, while protecting the character of the village. The village has some 150 houses and a primary school.

Liscloon is a small townland and settlement in County Tyrone. It is situated 2 miles from Donemana and 7 miles from Claudy. The area is sparsely populated although around 80 people reside in Liscloon. Altnachree Castle, also known as Liscloon House and Ogilby's Castle, still stands in Liscloon today. It was built in 1860 by William Ogilby.Liscloon is divided into Liscloon Lower and Liscloon Upper.
