Peas Creek

Ledges State Park is a state park in Boone County, Iowa, United States, located approximately four miles (6.4 km) south of the city of Boone. The park contains a sandstone gorge carved by Pea's Creek, a tributary of the Des Moines River. The gorge is 100 feet (30 m) deep in places, with concretions jutting from the cliffs.

Camp Hantesa is a camp under the Camp Fire Organization that began in 1919 and held one camp session per summer at the Boy Scout Camp in Boone, Iowa. Hantesa welcomes children ages 6–18 to participate in camp crafts and activities in their respective age groups. It was the first camp in America to have a C.I.T. (Counselor In Training) program consisting of L.C.'s and Apprentices ages 15–18. Hantesa's programs emphasize camping and other outdoor activities for youth.

Bear Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is a tributary to the Des Moines River. Bear Creek was named from a pioneer incident when hunter killed a bear near its course.

Boone Speedway, also known as “Iowa’s Action Track", is a 1/3-mile high-banked dirt oval raceway located in Boone, Iowa. Races are held on Saturday nights sanctioned by the IMCA. Regular events include IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and IMCA Mod Lites. The track's weekly races can be viewed on IMCA.tv streaming platform.

Boone County is a county in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,715. Its county seat is Boone.Boone County comprises the Boone, IA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Des Moines-Ames-West Des Moines, IA Combined Statistical Area.

The Boone Bridge was located southwest of Boone, Iowa, United States. It spanned the Des Moines River for 647 feet (197 m). The area in which this bridge was built was a pivotal transportation corridor in the early 20th century. The Chicago and North Western Railroad built the Boone Viaduct upstream from this location in 1901. It was the world's longest two-track viaduct. The county built a pin-connected truss bridge to carry a county road over the river just downstream from this location in 1909. In 1913 it was chosen as part of the route of the Lincoln Highway, the nation's first transcontinental highway. Because of its narrow width of only 16 feet (4.9 m) and an increase in traffic, a new bridge was required. The Iowa State Highway Commission designed this bridge in 1927. It was composed of two riveted Pratt and two Parker through trusses. The contract to build the structure was awarded in November 1927 to the A. Olson Construction Company of Waterloo, Iowa for $77,900. It was completed later in 1928. The bridge carried U.S. Route 30 traffic until it was rerouted to the south. It carried a county road until it was replaced in the early 21st century, and dismantled. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
