MK Airlines Flight 1602 was an MK Airlines Boeing 747-200F cargo flight on a flight from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Nova Scotia, Canada to Zaragoza Airport, Spain. It crashed on take-off in 2004, killing the crew of 7. It was the fourth accident for MK Airlines, as well as the deadliest.

Scotia Speedworld is a Canadian motorsport race track in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Situated in Enfield on Highway 102 immediately west of Halifax International Airport, the facility was built in 1987 and seats 6,000 spectators. The track celebrated its 35th year of racing in 2022. Scotia Speedworld is a 3/10-mile D-oval, asphalt with concrete in the lower groove on corners. Weekly racing includes Sportsman, Legends, Mini Stock and Bandolero classes. Special events include the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour and the World Series of Monster Trucks. The Pro Stock Tour runs several events at the track throughout the year, including the Summer Clash 250 where drivers race for the coveted Scott Fraser Memorial Cup. The track operates from May to September.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport (IATA: YHZ, ICAO: CYHZ) is a Canadian airport in Goffs, Nova Scotia, a rural community of the Halifax Regional Municipality. It serves the Halifax region, mainland Nova Scotia, and adjacent areas in the neighbouring Maritime provinces. The airport is named in honour of Robert Stanfield, the 17th Premier of Nova Scotia and former leader of the federal Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. The airport, owned by Transport Canada since it opened in 1960, has been operated since 2000 by the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA). It forms part of the National Airports System. Designated as an international airport by Transport Canada, Halifax Stanfield is the 8th busiest airport in Canada by passenger traffic. It handled a total of 3,579,293 passengers in 2023 and 84,045 aircraft movements in 2017. It is a hub for Air Canada Express, Cougar Helicopters, Maritime Air Charter, and PAL Airlines.

Goffs is a Canadian rural community in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality. Located in the north-central part of Halifax County, Goffs is situated on the Old Guysborough Road (Route 212) immediately east of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The community was first settled by people of African descent beginning in 1784, originally as two separate settlements called West Settlement and the Grove. After several years of fundraising, a school was finally built to educate the community in 1932, enrolling seventeen children. Prior to the establishment of this school, the mostly African Nova Scotian community would have had no access to education. Much of the community's land was expropriated in 1960 in order to expand the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The Guysborough Road United Baptist Church, established in 1872, was relocated to Goffs Road as a result and later closed in the 1990s. Approximately 130 Black Nova Scotians lived in the area in 1970. The church as well as many graves were moved for the third time in 1984. In 1985, a further 2,000 acres were taken from land owners to construct the Aerotech Industrial Park. As of the 2016 Census, 20 Black residents still live in the area. The community is home to the 9-hole Airlane Golf Club and the Goffs Volunteer Fire Department, part of the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service. It also has approximately 200 residents living within the boundaries of the community. There has been recent development with new homes in the last decade and the closest body of water is Mud Lake.

Sullivan Lake is a lake in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada. The primary outflow is an unnamed creek to Bennery Lake that flows via Bennery Brook and the Shubenacadie River to Cobequid Bay on the Minas Basin, part of the Bay of Fundy.

Oldham is a community of the Halifax Regional Municipality in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It was named for Oldham in the Greater Manchester area.Oldham was a gold mining community in the 1930s and 1940s. It is located about 2.5 km from the local town of Enfield. Oldham was a place for travellers to stop while en route from the Guysbrough Rd to Enfield, Halifax, and other surrounding areas. The family name Cole is prominent in the community with many other family names such as Whidden, Chaplin, Graham, Miuse, McPhail, Dowell, Dunfords, Publicover, Browns, Reeves. Many families are related to each other and Oldham is a tight-knit community. Baseball and hockey were also games that the kids would play on the dirt road and in the fields.

Oakfield is a community of the Halifax Regional Municipality in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The community was founded and named by John Wimburn Laurie. He built St. Margaret's of Scotland Church and is the namesake of Laurie Park. He arrived in Canada in 1861. In 1865 he purchased 800 acres in Oakfield. He brought twenty families from England.

Enfield is an urban community located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of Halifax Stanfield International Airport in the Shubenacadie Valley on the border of Hants and Halifax counties in Nova Scotia, Canada. Specifically, Enfield exists in both the East Hants Municipal District and Halifax and is divided by the Shubenacadie River.

Shubenacadie Grand Lake is a large Canadian lake straddling the Halifax Regional Municipality and Hants county on mainland Nova Scotia. It drains into the Shubenacadie River at its northeastern outlet. The lake is the seventh and largest lake in the Shubenacadie Canal system and is located between Lock 5 and 6. Shubenacadie Grand Lake hosts two provincial parks, Laurie Provincial Park and Oakfield Provincial Park, both on its eastern shore. Shubenacadie Grand Lake has been under blue-green algae advisories during recent warm seasons due to harmful algal blooms. Deaths among dogs in Atlantic Canada have been associated with their consumption of cyanobacteria toxin-contaminated water. An increasing frequency of algal blooms may be attributable to the effects of climate change.

Wellington is a suburban community of the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia on Fletcher's Lake on Trunk 2 approximately 23.3 kilometres (14.5 mi) from Halifax.

Fall River is a suburban community located in Nova Scotia, Canada within the Halifax Regional Municipality. It is located north-northeast of the Bedford Basin, northeast of Bedford and Lower Sackville and north of Waverley. Fall River's name is derived from a stream running between Miller Lake and Lake Thomas which had a waterfall. These falls supplied water power for several mills during the 19th century as well as a local electrical utility during the early 20th century. The waterfall was demolished in the late 1950s as a result of the construction of the Bicentennial Highway leading to Halifax; the waterfall was located where the 4-lane expressway currently runs up the hill from the crossing of Lake Thomas to the interchange with Highway 118 at Miller Lake. Hydro-electric power is now generated by a tunnel that carries the water from Miller Lake which once flowed through this stream and down the waterfall. Turbines produce electricity for the main grid, during peak periods.
