Eastgate House is a Grade I listed Elizabethan townhouse in Rochester, Kent, England. It is notable for its association with author Charles Dickens, featuring as Westgate in The Pickwick Papers and as the Nun's House in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Now a Dickens Museum, the grounds of Eastgate House contain the Swiss chalet in which Dickens penned several of his novels.

The Diocese of Rochester is a Church of England diocese in the English county of Kent and the Province of Canterbury. The cathedral church of the diocese is Rochester Cathedral in the former city of Rochester. The bishop's Latin episcopal signature is: " (firstname) Roffen", Roffensis being the genitive case of the Latin name of the see. An ancient diocese, it was established with the authority of King Æthelberht of Kent by Augustine of Canterbury in 604 at the same time as the see of London. Only the adjacent Diocese of Canterbury is older in England. Its establishment was the first part of an unrealised plan conceived by Pope Gregory the Great for Augustine of Canterbury to consecrate 12 bishops in different places and another 12 for the prospective see (later province) of York.The Rochester diocese includes 268 parish churches throughout: the western part of the county of Kent the London Borough of Bexley the London Borough of Bromley;The diocese is subdivided into three archdeaconries: Archdeaconry of Bromley & Bexley (Archdeacon: Allie Kerr) Archdeaconry of Rochester (Archdeacon: Andy Wooding Jones) Archdeaconry of Tonbridge (Archdeacon: Sharon Copestake);The current diocesan boundaries roughly match its pre-19th century extent. On 1 January 1846 parishes in Hertfordshire from the dioceses of Lincoln and of London and Essex (from London diocese) were added to Rochester, while all West Kent parishes except those in the Rochester Deanery were transferred to the Diocese of Canterbury. In May 1877, Essex and Hertfordshire became part of the newly created Diocese of St Albans. On 1 August 1877, the Diocese of Rochester gained some northern parts of Surrey from the Diocese of Winchester and the Diocese of London which were later transferred to the Diocese of Southwark at its creation in 1905.

Rochester Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, is in Rochester, Kent, England. The cathedral is the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Rochester and seat (cathedra) of the Bishop of Rochester, the second oldest bishopric in England after that of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The cathedral, built in the Norman style is a Grade I listed building.

Rochester railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the town of Rochester, Kent. It is 33 miles 61 chains (54.3 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Sole Street and Chatham. The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern and Thameslink, including a handful of peak services to and from Bedford operated by the latter. In December 2015 a new station on Corporation Street opened 500 metres (1,600 ft) to the west of the original station which it replaced. It is now closer to the town centre and its historic buildings.

St Nicholas Church is a former parish church in Rochester, Kent, England, next to Rochester Cathedral. It is now the offices of the Board of Education of the Diocese of Rochester. It is a Grade I listed building.

Hayward House is an early 19th-century almshouse at 1–8 Corporation Street in Rochester, Kent, England. Designed by Robert Baker and completed in 1823, it originally housed aged "industrious poor" from St Nicholas parish. A red-brick Georgian-style block of three storeys with a symmetrical 3–1–3 bay front, it remains a Grade II listed building. Today Hayward House is managed by the Richard Watts Charities and provides six self-contained flats.

The Corn Exchange is a commercial complex in the High Street, Rochester, Kent, England. The complex, which was commissioned as a corn exchange and is now used as an events venue, is a Grade I listed building.

Medway Adult Education is the principal provider of adult and community learning services in the Medway unitary authority area of Kent, England. Operated as a department of Medway Council, it delivers a comprehensive range of adult learning opportunities and nationally accredited qualifications across Medway, primarily funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). MAE operates two main permanent centres: the historic Rochester Centre, housed in the Grade II listed former Rochester Technical Institute (1905–06), and the Medway Learning & Skills Hub in Gillingham.

Restoration House in Rochester, Kent in England, is a fine example of an Elizabethan mansion. It is so named after the visit of King Charles II on the eve of his restoration. Charles had landed in Dover on 25 May 1660 and by the evening of the 28th arrived in Rochester. He was received by the Mayor and eventually retired for the night to the home of Colonel Gibbon. The following day Charles continued to London and was proclaimed King on 29 May, his 30th birthday. Although the home of Colonel Gibbon, the property was actually owned by Sir Francis Clerke (he was knighted during the visit), a fact which has led to confusion in the past.Although it is a private home, the house and garden are open to the public during the summer. The house is protected as a Grade I listed building.

Rochester Common was a station on the Chatham Extension from Strood serving the town of Rochester. The station was opened by the South Eastern Railway which merged with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway to form the South Eastern and Chatham Railway in 1899. After the merger the SE & CR deemed that the Chatham Extension was an unnecessary duplication of the line and stations that it inherited from the LC & DR, and therefore the Extension and its stations, including Rochester Central (as it was then named), was closed in 1911. The station was demolished soon after closure and the site of the station later became sidings for Rochester Freight Depot until c. 1990.. Since closure the whole area has been redeveloped erasing any trace of the railway. The track layout was remodelled so that only the South Eastern Railway's bridge over the River Medway was used, and that layout is still there in the present day Chatham Main Line route. The London, Chatham and Dover Railway's bridge lay unused and then derelict until it was rebuilt in the 1960s to be the eastbound carriageway for a widened A2 road bridge which opened in 1970.

The Royal Crown Hotel is a Grade II listed building located at 2 High Street at the junction with The Esplanade in Rochester, Kent, England. The former public house and hotel was constructed between 1859 and 1861 as a Victorian commercial building serving travellers and residents at the strategic gateway to Rochester Bridge across the River Medway. The building was granted Grade II listed status on 2 December 1991 (List Entry Number: 1336126). The structure remains a prominent landmark within the Historic Rochester Conservation Area.

The George Vaults (formerly the George Inn) at 35 High Street in Rochester, Kent, is a public house built over a remarkable early 14th-century vaulted undercroft. The undercroft dates to circa 1320–1325 and is of exceptional historical importance, giving the building its Grade II* listing. The present three-storey brick pub front (added in the late 18th/19th century) features a central glazed double door and large windows at street level, with a Venetian window on the first floor. The pub is situated just below Rochester Castle and Cathedral on the old High Street – a location that aligns with the medieval street plan of Roman Watling Street.
