The Zandkreekdam is a compartmentalisation dam located approximately 3 kilometres north of the city of Goes in The Netherlands, which connects Zuid-Beveland with Noord-Beveland, and separates the Oosterschelde from the Veerse Meer. A navigation lock in the dam permits shipping connections to Middelburg and Vlissingen, via the Veerse Meer and the Walcheren navigation channel. The Zandkreekdam is 830 metres in length, and was the first compartmentalisation dam to be constructed as part of the Delta Works, having been proposed by Johan van Veen as part of the Drie-Eilanden Plan (English: Three Islands Plan) which originated in the 1930s. It was the second project constructed under the Delta Works Plan, after the Stormvloedkering Hollandse IJssel which was completed in 1958. The construction of the Zandkreekdam, together with the Veerse Gatdam in 1961, created the freshwater Veerse Meer (Veerse Lake). Poor water quality in the lake led to the decision to build a control lock, known as the Katse Heule, which was completed in 2004 and re-established saltwater intrusion from the Oosterschelde into the Veerse Meer, and led to a significant improvement in water quality. There are two bridges at the Zandkreekdam locks to permit vehicular traffic to pass over it at any time.Johan van Veen's Three-Island Plan required that construction of the Zankreekdam and the Veerse Gatdam should be undertaken as early as possible in the Delta Works programme, to permit Dutch civil engineers and contractors to gain experience that would be necessary for more complicated Delta Works projects such as the Brouwersdam and Oosterscheldekering.

Part of the overhaul was the extension of the number of seats from 28 to 42, turning the dining room to face the Oosterschelde and modernisation of the kitchen. During the overhaul the restaurant was moved to the former location of 't Veerhuis in Wolphaartsdijk. Because the restaurant is part of the primary sea defences, the overhaul had to be discussed with the local water board.

Oosterschelde National Park is a national park in the Dutch province of Zeeland. This national park was established on 8 May 2002. It comprises the Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde), Keeten-Mastgat, Krabbenkreek, Zijpe, Slaak, and Krammer. The Eastern Scheldt part behind the Oesterdam doesn't belong to the national park. Oosterschelde National Park is surrounded by the following regions: Schouwen-Duiveland, Tholen, Zuid-Beveland, and Noord-Beveland. The Zeeland Bridge crosses the national park.

Wilhelminadorp is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located in the municipality of Goes.Wilhelminadorp was founded in 1812, when the Wilhelminapolder was diked. Originally the polder was named Lodewijkspolder, after then King of Holland Louis Bonaparte who had given the permit to start work. With the restoration of the House of Orange, the name was changed in 1815. The polder was now named after Wilhelmina of Prussia, wife of William I of the Netherlands.Restaurant Katseveer (one Michelin star) is located in the village.

Colijnsplaat is a village in the Province of Zeeland, the Netherlands It is a part of the Municipality of Noord-Beveland, and lies about 20 km (12 mi) northeast of Middelburg.

The Goes TV Tower (Dutch: Televisietoren Goes) is a broadcast tower near Goes, Netherlands. The tower was the first TV tower in the Netherlands, and is currently owned by Alticom, but the area around the tower is owned by KPN, whilst the antenna is owned by NOVEC. In 2007 a new antenna was installed, which is 11 metres (36.1 ft) shorter than the previous antenna. Together with the mast, the Goes telecommunication tower is 137 metres high. The tower is used not only for television, but also for radio and telephone. The construction of the tower in Gus was even given priority because of the possibility of using it for telephone connections. During the floods of 1953 many telephone cables were destroyed and people noticed how important it was to have other equipment for that. Construction of the tower began in 1955. A new technological process was used. Liquid concrete was poured layer by layer on the hardened concrete. The transmission tower was then placed on top of the concrete tower.

Oostende Castle is a castle in Goes, the Netherlands. The current castle was part of a motte-and-bailey castle. Its grounds formed the outer bailey. The motte was directly south of it, now under the Maria Magdalena Church.The castle consists of a 14th-century tower house built on top of a ring wall that was surrounded by a moat. The foundations of this ring wall have been found west and east of the house. The segment to the west had two towers on the inside, and has been made visible for the public. The tower house has been restored, and is now part of a craft brewery, hotel and restaurant.

In August 1572, during the course of the Eighty Years' War, the city of Goes, in the Spanish Netherlands, was besieged by Dutch forces with the support of English troops sent by Queen Elizabeth I. This was a menace to the safety of the nearby city of Middelburg, also under siege. Given the impossibility of rescue of Goes by sea, 3,000 soldiers of the Spanish Tercios under the command of Cristóbal de Mondragón waded across the river Scheldt at its mouth, walking 15 miles overnight in water up to chest deep. The surprise arrival of the Tercios forced the withdrawal of the Anglo-Dutch troops from Goes, allowing the Spanish to maintain control of Middelburg, capital of Walcheren Island.

CyberBunker is an Internet service provider located in the Netherlands and Germany that, according to its website, "hosted services to any website except child pornography and anything related to terrorism". The company first operated in a former NATO bunker in Zeeland, and later in another former NATO bunker in Traben-Trarbach, Germany. CyberBunker served as a web host for The Pirate Bay and as one of the many WikiLeaks mirrors. CyberBunker has also been accused of being a host for spammers, botnet command-and-control servers, malware and online scams. The company has also been involved in Border Gateway Protocol hijacks of IP addresses used by Spamhaus and the United States Department of Defense. The Spamhaus hijack was part of an exceptionally large distributed denial of service attack launched against them in March 2013. Because of the size of this attack it received considerable mainstream media attention. The company is named for its initial location in a former Cold War bunker. As of 2013, CyberBunker listed its address as the bunker, but the location of CyberBunker's servers was unclear.In September 2019, the German police stormed and shut down the company's operations in its bunker in Traben-Trarbach. Seven suspects were arrested.
