Cascade is an unincorporated community in Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Richmond Township. As an unincorporated community, Cascade has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own. The community was named from the presence of the Cascade Iron Mining Company in the area. Iron ore was discovered in the area in 1873, and the station at the junction between the Chicago and Northwestern Railway and the Marquette, Houghton and Ontonagon Railroad was called Cascade Junction.

Lake Gribben is a lake in the U.S. state of Michigan, located one mile (1.6 km) southeast of the unincorporated community of Palmer. The lake exhibits a distinct orange hue due to its use as a tailings basin in association with open-pit mining operations of the Empire and Tilden iron mines.

WUPX is the student radio station on the campus of Northern Michigan University which broadcasts at 91.5 MHz FM in Marquette, Michigan. WUPX is operated by the student organization Radio X. Radio X also hosts a number of concerts, events, and benefits. The station is on the air twelve months out of the year, and operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week throughout the school term.The station is licensed to the NMU Board of Trustees, financed by the student activity fee, and operates separately from the University's other media outlet, WNMU-FM, and WNMU (TV). WUPX broadcasts from the Northern Center on the campus of Northern Michigan University.

The station transmits its signal from an antenna with a height of 430 feet (130 m) with an effective radiated power of 3,600 watts located atop a hill in Marquette Township just west of the city of Marquette. In July 2020, WNGE changed their format from classic hits to active rock, branded as "99.5 K-Rock". The format moved from sister station WUPK 94.1 FM, which switched to soft adult contemporary as "The Breeze."

WUPK (94.1 FM) is a radio station based in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan licensed to Marquette, Michigan. The stations broadcast a soft adult contemporary format brand as 94.1 The Breeze. WUPK signed on as a simulcast of WIMK in the 1990s, and by the 2000s, the station adopted the name "Classic Rock: The Bear", joining Northern Star's existing group of Northern Michigan stations with this branding, though their programming was not part of that specific network of stations, and aired its own music rotation. Following the stations' sale from Northern Star Broadcasting to Sovereign Communications in 2010, WUPK broke their simulcast and re-imaged as "94 Rock" accordingly, adopting similar identities, logos, and playlists as Rock 101, Sovereign's existing active rock station in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan at WSUE 101.3 FM. WUPK/WIMK DJ Nikki "At Night" Peterson currently provides pre-recorded station bumpers for WSUE's nighttime music rotation. In July 2020, WUPK changed their format from active rock to soft adult contemporary, branded as "94.1 The Breeze". The same year, Marquette Radio, LLC acquired WUPK and sister station WNGE from Sovereign Communications.

The station is currently owned by Armada Media Corporation, through licensee AMC Partners Escanaba, LLC, and was granted its license on September 29, 2006. The station signed on in May 2009 with a Top 40 (CHR) format. WUPZ has a rhythmic lean to it. The station air staff includes Jason Lee, Cory Lane, Kirk Sanders and Jon Perrault.

Negaunee Township is a civil township of Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,232 at the 2020 census. The city of Negaunee is located at the southwest corner of the township, but the two are administered autonomously.

The Michigan Iron Industry Museum, a branch facility of the Michigan Historical Center, is a community museum serving the heritage of the Marquette Iron Range on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The museum is located in Negaunee, a town built atop the geological strata of the iron range near Marquette. Until recently, Negaunee was a one-industry town that centered on the mining of iron ore. The Negaunee region served as the center of U.S. iron ore production from about 1880 until approximately 1900, when this role was taken over by iron mines on Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range. The Michigan Iron Industry Museum opened in 1987 close to the Carp River Forge site on the Carp River where Michigan iron ore was first forged in 1848.Admission to the museum is free, and the museum is open year-round. The museum also serves as the focal point for the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, a 47-mile (76 km) bicycle and hiking trail that presents a look at some of the key sites of human and geological heritage on the Marquette Iron Range.
