Jung District (Korean: 중구; Hanja: 中區; RR: Junggu; lit. Central District) is one of the 25 districts of Seoul, South Korea. Jung has a population of 131,452 (2013) and has a geographic area 9.96 km2 (3.85 sq mi), making it both the least-populous and the smallest district of Seoul, and is divided into 15 dong (administrative neighborhoods). Jung is located at the centre of Seoul on the northern side of the Han River, bordering the city districts of Jongno to the north, Seodaemun to the northwest, Mapo to the west, Yongsan to the south, Seongdong to the southeast, and Dongdaemun to the northeast. Jung is the historical city center of Seoul with a variety of old and new, including modern facilities such as high rise office buildings, department stores and shopping malls clustered together, and also a center of tradition where historic sites such as Deoksugung and Namdaemun can be found. Jung is home to cultural sites such as the landmark N Seoul Tower on Namsan Mountain, the Myeongdong Cathedral, the Bank of Korea Museum, and the Gwangtonggwan, the oldest continuously-operating bank building in Korea and one of city's protected monuments since March 5, 2001. The Myeongdong neighborhood is one of the most famous shopping areas and popular tourist destinations in South Korea. The district has undergone significant redevelopment in the recent decades, especially with the remodeling of Seoul Plaza and the opening up of Cheonggyecheon, previously covered by an elevated highway.

Seoul Station is a major railway station in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The station is served by the Korail Intercity Lines and the commuter trains of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway.

Seoullo 7017 (Korean: 서울로 7017), also known as the Seoul Skygarden or Skypark, is an elevated, linear park in Seoul, built atop a former highway overpass. The path, which is about one kilometer in length and lined with 24,000 plants, is similar to New York City's High Line. Skygarden was designed by MVRDV, a Dutch firm, and opened in May 2017. In the future, the park may become an urban nursery, growing trees and plants for replanting elsewhere in the city. The path also improves walking times around the city's Central Station.The disused overpass closed in 2015 and cuts diagonally across Seoul Station at 17m above street level. The '70' in the name comes from the year 1970 when the flyover was dedicated, while the '17' is both the number of walkways connected to it, and the year 2017. The park includes gardens, terraces, and exhibitions, and will "feature over 24,085 plants representing 228 species of trees, shrubs and flowers found in and outside Korea."

Sohn Kee-chung Park (Korean: 손기정공원; Hanja: 孫基禎公園) is a public park in Malli-dong, Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It is named for Sohn Kee-chung, the first Korean to win an Olympic gold medal. It was established in 1987 and remodeled in 2020.The park is popular for sports, and contains a number of facilities for not only running, but also soccer, tennis, volleyball, and basketball. A statue of Sohn is located near a running track in the park.The park also contains a Sohn Kee-chung Children's Library and Sohn Kee-chung Cultural Library (손기정문화도서관), as well as the Sohn Kee Chung Memorial Hall. A cafe is located in the memorial hall. General use of the facilities is encouraged, with comfortable seats, desks, and tables available in significant quantities. A tree given to Sohn in the name of Adolf Hitler, who hosted the Olympics Sohn won his gold medal at, is now located in the park.

Bongnae-dong is a legal dong, or neighbourhood of the Jung-gu district in Seoul, South Korea and governed by its administrative dongs, Sogong-dong and Hoehyeon-dong.Global Logistics System Co., Ltd., the Jungsuck Educational Foundation, and the Korea Research Foundation for the 21st Century are in the Hanil Building in Bongnae-dong.

Yakhyeon Catholic Church (약현성당) is historic church of the Jungnim-dong, Jung District, Seoul. The parish is a part of the Archdiocese of Seoul. The official name is church of St. Joseph.

Millennium Hilton Seoul is a luxury hotel in Seoul, part of Hilton Hotels & Resorts. The hotel opened in 1983 as the Seoul Hilton and is located at 50 Sowol-ro, Jung-gu, in the central business and shopping district in downtown Seoul.The hotel was originally owned by Daewoo Group, which sold it to City Developments Limited in 1999. In December 2021, City Developments announced plans to sell the hotel and adjacent land to IGIS Asset Management, a Korean real estate firm, for 1.1 trillion won ($934 million).Millennium Seoul Hilton is listed in the Forbes Travel Guide.

Korea JoongAng Daily is the English edition of the South Korean national daily newspaper JoongAng Ilbo. The newspaper was first published on October 17, 2000, originally named as JoongAng Ilbo English Edition. It mainly carries news and feature stories by staff reporters, and some stories translated from the Korean language newspaper. Korea JoongAng Daily is one of the three main English newspapers in South Korea along with The Korea Times and The Korea Herald. The newspaper is published with a daily edition of The New York Times and it is located within the main offices of the JoongAng Ilbo in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

On February 10, 2008, an arsonist set fire to the historic Namdaemun gate (officially "Sungnyemun") in Seoul, South Korea, causing severe damage to the 550-year-old structure. The monument was subsequently restored and reopened to the public in 2013.

Namdaemun (Korean: 남대문; Hanja: 南大門, lit. 'South Great Gate'), officially known as the Sungnyemun (Korean: 숭례문; Hanja: 崇禮門, lit. 'Honoring Propriety Gate'), is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon dynasty. It is located in Jung-gu between Seoul Station and Seoul Plaza, with the historic 24-hour Namdaemun Market next to the gate. The gate, dating back to the 14th century, is a historic pagoda-style gateway, and is designated as the first National Treasure of South Korea. It was once one of the three major gateways through Seoul's city walls which had a stone circuit of 18.2 kilometres (11.3 mi) and stood up to 6.1 metres (20 ft) high. It was first built in the last year of King Taejo of Joseon's reign in 1398, and rebuilt in 1447. In 2008, the wooden pagoda atop the gate was severely damaged by arson. Restoration work on the gateway started in February 2010 and was completed on 29 April 2013. The gate was reopened on 4 May 2013.

Chungjeongno Station is a subway station on Seoul Subway Line 2 and Seoul Subway Line 5. It is located in Seodaemun-gu, which is a district in Seoul, South Korea. Chungjeong was the pen name of minister Min Yeong-hwan, who committed suicide protesting the signing of the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1905.
