Yorkgate railway station

York Street railway station (also referred to as Belfast York Street) serves the north of Belfast in Northern Ireland. The station replaced Yorkgate railway station, which was on a nearby site and closed after the last train on 27 April 2024. York Street station opened to the public before the first train on the following day. The station re-uses Yorkgate's original platforms.

York Road railway station (also referred to as Belfast York Road) served the north of Belfast in Northern Ireland. It was formerly one of the three terminus railway stations in Belfast. The others were Great Victoria Street, and Queen's Quay.

Sailortown was a working-class dockland community in the docks area of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Established in the mid-19th century on partly reclaimed land, it had a mixed Protestant and Catholic population. The 1907 dock strike called by trade union leader James Larkin commenced in Sailortown before spreading throughout the city.Urban redevelopment in the late 1960s resulted in Sailortown's eventual demolition. As of 2021, only two churches, one pub and three houses remain of the once bustling waterfront enclave. However, a combination of private investment in the greater Docks area and building of social housing by associations such as Clanmill has led to a growth in population since 2010 in the Pilot St area. A "sailortown" is a dockland area "that catered to the transient population of seafarers" that have existed in seaports throughout the world.

The Benny's Bar bombing was a paramilitary attack on 31 October 1972 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A unit from the Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF) of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA), a loyalist paramilitary group, detonated a no-warning car bomb outside the Irish Catholic-owned Benny's Bar in the dockland area of Sailortown, killing two young girls trick-or-treating in the area: Clare Hughes (4); and Paula Strong (6). Twelve of the pub's patrons were also injured in the explosion.

Dividers is an outdoor sculpture located at Clarendon Dock, on the River Lagan, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was produced in 2002 by artist Vivien Burnside and is an 8.3m tall set of dividers made of bronze with a stainless steel core. It was funded by Laganside Corporation, Belfast Harbour Commissioners and the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

The Golden Thread Gallery is a contemporary art space in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It hosts contemporary art exhibitions and participatory events by a mix of Northern Irish and international artists; six large-scale exhibitions in the main gallery spaces and twelve exhibitions in its project space. It also facilitates exhibitions of Northern Irish art in other venues across the globe. The Golden Thread Gallery was established in 1998 by Gail Prentice in a former linen mill on an 'interface area' (an area where segregated nationalist and unionist residential areas meet) in North Belfast. In 2001, it was reconstituted to become the Golden Thread Gallery Ltd., a limited company with charitable status. In 2002, Peter Richards, artist and curator, was appointed as the gallery's new director. Gallery outreach activities include working off-site and in partnership with communities and groups, devising projects in addition to providing artists’ talks, gallery tours and workshops. The gallery also publishes exhibition catalogues and books. In recent years the Golden Thread Gallery has been working with a number of artists living and working in Northern Ireland to create a “not-for-profit” form of artists’ representation and has championed their work at art fairs such as the London Art Fair, Berliner Liste and Scope New York as well as establishing a dedicated in-house sales room. Golden Thread Gallery is a member of Plus Tate, a network of 35 contemporary art galleries and organisations based throughout the UK.The Golden Thread Gallery is free to the public and is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, National Lottery, Belfast City Council and supported by RMI and ASHP YEHA.

Belfast Dock was a constituency of the Parliament of Northern Ireland.

The BT postcode area, also known as the Belfast postcode area, covers all of Northern Ireland and was the last part of the United Kingdom to be coded, between 1970 and 1974. This area is a group of 82 postcode districts in Northern Ireland, within 44 post towns and around 47,227 live postcodes. With a population of over 1.8 million people, BT is the second most populous UK postcode area, after the B postcode area (Birmingham, 1.9 million). It is the only UK postcode area that has land borders with non-UK postcode areas and is also the only UK postcode area that borders the European Union. BT borders nine Eircode routing areas in the neighbouring Republic of Ireland: F94, F93, F91, N41, H23, H18, H14, A91, and A75.

Donegall Quay is a public park and greenspace located in Belfast. It borders with Obel Tower and the River Lagan.

Dargan Bridge, built in the 1990s, is a railway bridge in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This bridge spans the River Lagan and connects the railway lines to Larne and Derry (via Bleach Green) to those east Bangor and south to Newry and the Republic. It runs mostly parallel to the Lagan Bridge (opened 1995) carrying the M3 motorway across the Lagan. One of the first people to cross it was Mr John Johnston, the first Station Manager of Belfast Central Station and his grandson James Currie. The name commemorates William Dargan, who was involved in bringing railways to many parts of Ireland.

The Obel Tower is a highrise building in Belfast, Northern Ireland, located on Donegall Quay on the River Lagan beside the Lagan Weir. Measuring 85 metres (279 ft) in height, the tower is the tallest storeyed building in Ireland, dominating the Belfast skyline. On completion it overtook the previous tallest building in Belfast and Northern Ireland, Windsor House (80 m).

The Metropolitan Arts Centre, usually referred to as the MAC, is an arts venue in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter and is home to all kinds of exhibitions, theatre performances, experimental works. The MAC is a cultural hub and a vital shared space in Belfast. Open 363 days per year, the MAC offers an eclectic programme of visual art, theatre, dance, family workshops and lots more. Since opening in 2012, some 1.5 million visitors have come through the doors of the MAC. In 2015 the MAC was shortlisted for the Museum of the Year prize, with sponsor The Art Fund stating that “Belfast’s new arts venue presented an outstanding programme in 2014 and established itself as a world-class attraction”.
