Yazd

Eyshabad (Persian: عيش اباد) is a neighborhood in the city of Yazd in the Central District of Yazd County, Yazd province, Iran.

The Fire Temple of Yazd (Persian: آتشکدهٔ یزد, romanized: Ātaškade-ye Yazd), also known as Yazd Atash Behram (Persian: آتش بهرام یزد, romanized: Ātaš-e Bahrām-e Yazd), is a Zoroastrian fire temple in Yazd, Yazd province, Iran. It enshrines the Atash Bahram, meaning “Victorious Fire”, dated to 470 AD. It is one of the nine Atash Bahrams, the only one of the highest-grade fires in Iran, where Zoroastrians have practiced their religion since 400 BC; the other eight Atash Bahrams are in India. According to Aga Rustam Noshiravan Belivani, of Sharifabad, the Anjuman-i Nasiri (elected Zoroastrian officials) opened the Yazd Atash Behram in the 1960s to non-Zoroastrian visitors. Veneration of fire has its roots in the older practice of keeping a hearth fire burning continually - especially during the bitterly cold winters so characteristic of the steppes of Central Asia, when the early Indo-European-speaking peoples led a nomadic life in which fire was a source of warmth, light and comfort. As time passed, the Iranians began to address fire as Atas Yazata (‘’fire divinity’’), while rewarding it with offerings in return for its constant help. The ceremony accompanying recitation of the Yasna Haptanghaiti seems to originate in pre-Zoroastrian times when priests would offer libations to fire and water.

Dowlatabad Garden (Persian: باغ دولت آباد) is a historical garden in Yazd, Iran. Its 33.8 meters tall windcatcher is the tallest adobe-made windcatcher in the world. It was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2011, as part of the Persian gardens. It is also listed in UNESCO as a part of the historical city of Yazd in 2017. The garden contains several buildings, such as Talar-e Ayeneh (mirror hall building), frontispiece house, Behesht-Aeen building, Badgir building, Haremsara (women quarters), Tehrani building, servants quarters, courthouse, kitchen (cook house), archway, cistern, Shotorkhane, summer and winter stables and a Qanat.

Iranshahr High School (Persian: دبیرستان ایرانشهر) is a historic public high school in Yazd, Iran. It was founded in 1928 and holds the distinction of being the first public high school established in the city.

The Markar Clock Tower also known as Borj-e Sa'at-e Markar (Persian: برج ساعت مارکار) is a historic clock tower in Yazd, Iran. It is located on the geographic centre of Iran.

Gol Gran Rig (Persian: گل گران ريگ, also Romanized as Gol Grān Rīg) is a village in Gavkan Rural District, in the Central District of Rigan County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 69, in 12 families.

Kheyrabad (Persian: خيراباد) is a neighborhood in the city of Yazd in the Central District of Yazd County, Yazd province, Iran. As a village, it was the capital of Fajr Rural District until its capital was transferred to the village of Shahneh.

The Amir Chakhmaq Mosque (Persian: مسجد امیرچخماق, romanized: Masjed Mir Chakhmagh; Arabic: مسجد أمير جقماق), also known as the Dahouk Mosque (Persian: مسجد دهوک) and the Jāmeh Nou Mosque, is a Shi'ite mosque located adjacent to the Amir Chaghmagh Square, in the city of Yazd, in the province of Yazd, Iran.

The Amir Chakhmaq Complex (Persian: مجموعه میدان امیرچخماق, romanized: Majmūʿa Meydân Amir Čaqmaq) is a prominent structure in Yazd, Iran, noted for its symmetrical sunken alcoves. It is a mosque located on a square of the same name. It also contains a caravanserai, a tekyeh, a bathhouse, a cold water well, and a confectionery. At night, the building is lit up after twilight hours after sun set with orange lighting in the arched alcoves which makes it a spectacle. During the Iran–Iraq War and the Iraq wars with the United States and Afghanistan, many Iraqis and Afghanis came to inhabit the Amir Chakhmaq Square.

The Jāmeh Mosque of Yazd (Persian: مسجد جامع یزد, romanized: Masjid-e-Jāmeh Yazd; Arabic: جامع يزد) is a Friday mosque (jāmeh) located in the city of Yazd, in the province of Yazd, Iran. Built on the site of a 9th-century CE fire temple, the mosque was completed during the 14th and 15th century CE and renovated in subsequent years. Between 1982 and 2005 the mosque was depicted on the obverse of the Iranian 200 rial banknote. The mosque was added to the Iran National Heritage List on 22 July 1934, administered by the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran.

The Tomb of Sayyed Rukn ad-Din (Persian: آرامگاه سید رکن الدین) or the Sayyed Rukn ad-Din Madrasa (Persian: مدرسه سید رکن الدین) is a 14th century mausoleum in Yazd, Iran. It is the burial place of Sayyed Rukn ad-Din Mohammad Qazi Hosseini Yazdi (Persian: سید رکن الدین محمد قاضی حسینی یزدی) who served as the chief Qadi of Yazd for a while.

The Atabegs of Yazd (Persian: اتابکان یزد, Atābakān-e Yazd) were a local dynasty that ruled the city of Yazd from approximately 1141 to 1319. They succeeded the Kakuyids, to whom they were linked by marriage.
