Forks of Cypress Cemetery

The Forks of Cypress was a large slave-labour cotton farm and Greek Revival plantation house near Florence in Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States. It was designed by architect William Nichols for James Jackson and his wife, Sally Moore Jackson. Construction was completed in 1830. It was the only Greek Revival house in Alabama with a two-story colonnade around the entire house, composed of 24 Ionic columns. The name was derived from the fact that Big Cypress Creek and Little Cypress Creek border the plantation and converge near the site of the main house. Although the main house was destroyed by fire in 1966 after being struck by lightning, the site was placed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on April 14, 1992 and the National Register of Historic Places on October 10, 1997. The site is the property of the State of Alabama; a local board has oversight.

The Peter F. Armistead Sr. House is a historic residence near Florence, Alabama. The land was purchased by Peter Fontaine Armistead in 1818, with the house built around 1825. The exterior is a near copy of Armistead's home in Culpeper County, Virginia, "Glen Ella". Thomas S. Broadfoot purchased the house in 1877, who sold it to Howard Wright in 1935. The house underwent restoration in the 1970s. The house is five bays wide, with steps leading up to a narrow, flat-roofed entry portico. There are three dormer windows protruding from the gable roof on the front and rear. The interior is laid out in a double-pile configuration, with a parlor behind the front stair hall. A kitchen wing was added to the northwest rear in the 1970s. The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1978 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Shoals Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian school in Florence, Alabama. The metropolitan area is commonly called "The Shoals". The headmaster, as of the 2021-2023 academic year, is Chuck Owens. Shoals Christian School was formed in 1997 by the merger of two schools which were sponsored by then-Christ Chapel (now Chapel) and Woodmont Baptist Church. SCS graduated its first class of high school seniors in 2000. SCS is "double-accredited by Cognia (formerly SACS, then AdvancED) and the Association of Christian Schools International" and "our students score above the state and national average on the ACT" with "an average score of 23.7" Florence, Alabama's TimesDaily newspaper named SCS "The Best-Kept Secret in The Shoals" in 2020 with 95% of students receiving scholarship and 99% of graduates attending college.

Cox Creek is a stream in Lauderdale County, in the U.S. state of Alabama, that flows through the northern portions of the city of Florence.Cox Creek was probably named for Zachariah Cox, a land agent.

The James Martin House (also known as the Martin-Bounds House) is a historic residence in Florence, Alabama. Martin was a leading Florence industrialist of the Antebellum era, who owned a cotton spinning mill along Cypress Creek. He had come to Florence from Jefferson County, Kentucky, and established his mill in 1839. A fire destroyed the complex in 1844, but was rebuilt and reopened in 1850. The mill was destroyed during the Civil War, but not rebuilt before Martin's death in 1869. Martin's sons operated the mill until 1873, and owned the house until 1879. It was purchased in 1886 by John Bounds, and remained in his family until 1974. The original block of the house is five bays wide, with a small pedimented porch covering the double front door, which is surrounded by a transom and sidelights. A pair of nine-over-six sash windows flank the porch on either side. An addition was built on the left side of the façade in the mid-19th century, adding a hallway and two rooms to the center-hall plan layout. A wing to the rear of the house was originally attached via an open breezeway which was later enclosed. The entire house has Federal-style woodwork with some Greek Revival details, such as fluted Doric columns and pilasters on the front porch.The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1979 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Underwood-Petersville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lauderdale County, Alabama United States. It is part of the Florence - Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area known as "The Shoals". As of the 2010 census, the population of the CDP is 3,247.

The Old Florence Water Tower is a historic water tower in Florence, Alabama. It was built in 1889 by the Jeter and Boardman Gas and Water Association to increase water capacity in the town, which was undergoing a boom in population. The tower has a masonry base that is 70 feet (21 m) high, 30 feet (9.1 m) in diameter, with supports tapering from 10 to 5 feet (3.0 to 1.5 m) thick. The wrought iron tank is 40 feet (12 m) in diameter, and is composed of six 5 feet (1.5 m) bands, giving a capacity of 282,000 US gallons (1,070,000 L; 235,000 imp gal). It was replaced with a new tower in 1935. The tower was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1979 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The William Bowen Lustron House is a historic residence in Florence, Alabama. The Lustron house was purchased by William Bowen in 1949. The prefabricated, metal frame house is one of the company's two-bedroom Westchester Deluxe models. The metal side-gable roof is painted brown to mimic ceramic tile. The house is clad with blue porcelain enamel panels with white window surrounds. The left window on the façade is a bay window that projects slightly from the house, differentiating the Deluxe model from the Standard. The southeast corner is recessed, forming an entry porch. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Mike D. Lane Field is a baseball venue in Florence, Alabama, United States. It is home to the North Alabama Lions baseball team of the NCAA Division I ASUN Conference. The facility has a capacity of 1,500 spectators and is named for former head coach Mike D. Lane who has the most wins in North Alabama history.

Bank Independent Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium that has been approved by the University of North Alabama to be constructed in Florence, Alabama to replace Braly Stadium and Mike D. Lane Field for athletic events by the 2026-2027 academic year.It is to be built adjacent to Flowers Hall, which houses the UNA basketball and volleyball programs. The stadium will be designed by Davis Architects who previously designed the 2016 renovation of the Stephen C. O'Connell Center and expansions of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The College Place Historic District is a historic district in Florence, Alabama. The area was the site of a Confederate fortification during the Civil War. In 1882 the land was purchased by Judge J. J. Mitchell and used as pasture land; Mitchell's house sits on Wood Avenue to the east of the district. The property began to be sold off in the 1900s, with the oldest house in the district dating to 1907. Construction in the district accelerated in the mid- to late-1920s, with many professionals including physicians, merchants, scientists, and attorneys building homes in the neighborhood. Styles represented include Mission Revival, Georgian Revival, and bungalows. The district rises on a slight slope above the campus of the University of North Alabama, and has vistas of the campus including Wesleyan Hall. The district was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1992 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1995; the boundaries were extended in 1998.

CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall, built in 1972, is a 2,200-seat multipurpose arena located in Florence, Alabama. It is used primarily for basketball and volleyball, and is the home of the University of North Alabama Lions basketball and volleyball teams. The first basketball game in the arena was a preseason NBA basketball game between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks, with Pete Maravich scoring 42 points to lead the Hawks to a 122-120 win. It has also hosted high school basketball games as well. The main court at the arena has been replaced four times, most recently in 2018. In 2004 new scorers' tables and scoreboards were installed, including a center-hung scoreboard that replaced the one installed in 1985. Chairback seats were installed in 1989 on the home side and are sold only to season-ticket holders. In 2018, as part of North Alabama's transition to NCAA Division I, Flowers Hall underwent a $2 million renovation. The renovation included replacing all bleachers, a brand new court, two new video boards, two new scorers' tables, and a new VIP area on the west end of the court. In 2023, Flowers Hall was renamed CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall as part of a ten-year naming rights deal.
