Shree Jain Vidyalaya, Kolkata (Hindi: श्री जैन विद्यालय), often abbreviated SJV, is a school for secondary and senior secondary education located in Burrabazar region of Kolkata. The school is affiliated to the State Boards WBBSE and WBCHSE and more than 2900 pupils are enrolled in it. The school was founded in 1934 by Phushraj Bacchwat in whose honor the address of the school was renamed from Sukeas Lane to Phusraj Bachhawat Path. In year 2009, the school celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on completion of 75 years. Notable guests of the event included alumni Pawan Kumar Goenka, head of Mahindra's Automotive Division.The school currently has no principal.Sanjay kumar Pandey who was the former teacher and even student of shree jain vidyalaya is the headmaster of the school.

The Calcutta Anglo Gujarati School (or CAG School) is a private high school in Kolkata, India. It has two buildings, one for the boys' and one for the girls' school. It is on Pollock Street in the Burrabazar area, the commercial hub of the city.CAG School was founded in 1893 by the Gujarati-speaking business community of Kolkata, with an aim to provide education to their children in their mother tongue, Gujarati language, lead by Seth Tribhovandas Hirachand Kothari, who remained its secretary for 50 from the it's inception. The Writers' Buildings, often shortened to just Writers', is the official secretariat building of the state government of West Bengal in Kolkata, India. The 150-meter long building covers the entire northern stretch of the iconic Lal Dighi pond at the centre of historic B.B.D. Bagh, long considered as the administrative and business hub of the city. It originally served as the principal administrative office for writers (junior clerks) of the British East India Company (EIC). Designed by Thomas Lyon in 1777, the Writers' Building has gone through a long series of extensions over the centuries. Since India's independence in 1947, it housed the office of the Chief Minister of West Bengal, cabinet ministers and other senior officials, until 4 October 2013, when a major restoration of the building was announced. The majority of government departments were subsequently moved out to a new repurposed building named Nabanna in Howrah on a temporary basis. The building has been called a mini-township of sorts with a built-up area of around 550,000 square feet. Before the shifting of the state secretariat, the building housed 34 departments of the state government, and served as the office for approximately 6,000 employees. As of October 2020, the renovation of the building continues.

The Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary (Commonly known as the Portuguese Church) in Burrabazar, Kolkata, is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Calcutta. It is also known as the Murgihata Church and was founded in 1799.The cathedral has a decorated pediment, flanked on either side by two domed towers and an extended portico with an arched entrance way. The interior contains beautiful sculptures including 14 Stations of the Cross. Behind the altar, there are the figures of Madonna and Child. The remains of the first Archbishop of Calcutta lie below the altar.

The Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth (Armenian: Սուրբ Նազարեթ եկեղեցի) is an 18th-century Armenian Apostolic church in Kolkata, India, serving as the centre of the Armenian Community in Kolkata and the seat of the Armenian Vicariate of India and the Far East. It is affiliated with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It was first built in the year 1688 and rebuilt in 1724 on the old cemetery of the Armenian community, through the efforts of Agha Nazar after the original wooden structure perished in a fire in 1707.

The Black Hole of Calcutta was a dungeon in Fort William, Calcutta, measuring 14 by 18 feet (4.3 m × 5.5 m), in which troops of Siraj-ud-Daulah, the Nawab of Bengal, held British prisoners of war on the night of 20 June 1756.: 58  John Zephaniah Holwell, one of the British prisoners and an employee of the East India Company, said that, after the fall of Fort William, the surviving British soldiers, Indian sepoys, and Indian civilians were imprisoned overnight in conditions so cramped that many people died from suffocation and heat exhaustion, and that 123 of 146 prisoners of war imprisoned there died. Some modern historians believe that 64 prisoners were sent into the Hole, and that 43 died there. Some historians put the figure even lower, to about 18 dead, while questioning the veracity of Holwell's account itself.

B. B. D. Bagh, formerly called Tank Square and then Dalhousie Square (1847 to 1856), is the shortened version for Benoy-Badal-Dinesh Bagh. It is the seat of power of the state government, as well as the central business district of Kolkata in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
