Devon is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada. It is approximately 26 km (16 mi) southwest of Edmonton, the provincial capital, along the southern bank of the North Saskatchewan River.

The Winterburn Group is a stratigraphical unit of Frasnian age in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. It takes the name from Winterburn area located west of Edmonton, and was first described in well P.A. Pyrcz No. 1 by Imperial Oil Limited in 1950.

The Leduc Formation is a stratigraphic unit of Late Devonian (Frasnian) age in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. It takes its name from the city of Leduc, and it was formally described from the B.A. Pyrz No. 1 well in central Alberta, between the depths of 1,623.7 m (5,327 ft) and 1,807.5 m (5,930 ft), by Imperial Oil Limited in 1950. Supplementary information came from a complete section of the formation that was cored in Imperial Oil's Leduc No. 530 well between 1,633 m (5,358 ft) and 1,863 m (6,112 ft).The Leduc Formation is a major source of oil and gas in central Alberta, and the drilling of the highly successful Leduc No. 1 well in 1947 ushered in a new era in the Western Canadian petroleum industry.

The Woodbend Group is a stratigraphical unit of Frasnian age in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. It was first described in the British American Pyrcz No. 1 well by Imperial Oil geological staff in 1950.

Devon Bridge is a bridge that carries the Devonian Way (Highway 60) over the North Saskatchewan River in Devon, Alberta, Canada. The current bridge was built in 1987 to replace an earlier bridge that was started in 1950 and completed in 1951.Before 1948, passengers could cross the river in this location in a bucket or cage that was pulled across the river by a system of cables and pulleys. During the winter, cars could cross the river on an ice bridge that was created by pumping water onto the surface of the river to create a safe driving surface. A ferry operated during ice-free periods from October 1948 until the completion of the first Devon Bridge in the spring of 1951.

Rabbit Hill is a ski resort located on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River in southwest Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Rabbit Hill Snow Resort is the largest ski and snowboard facility in the Edmonton Area. Home to an award-winning Snow School, and one of the largest terrain parks in Northern Alberta, the terrain is suitable for newer skiers and will permit advanced skiers to develop their technique.Rabbit Hill is home to Rabbit Hill Alpine Race Club, Parkland Racers, and Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing- Edmonton.

The University of Alberta Botanic Garden (formerly the Devonian Botanic Garden) is Alberta's largest botanical garden. It was established in 1959 by the University of Alberta. It is located approximately 3.1 km (1.9 mi) west of the city of Edmonton, Alberta and 5.9 km (3.7 mi) north of the town of Devon, in Parkland County.

It is located on the south side of Highway 627, 0.8 km (0.50 mi) east of Highway 60. It is adjacent to the designated place of Birch Hill Park to the south.
