Simpson-Poplar Springs African Methodist Episcopal Church, is a historic African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 16901 Hardy Road in Poplar Springs, near Mount Airy, Maryland. The building was constructed in 1893.

Hubert Black House is a historic house and farm located in Woodbine (Formerly Florence), Howard County, Maryland. It was named after J. Hubert Black, a Howard County parole officer, and later, a County Commissioner who ran on a no growth platform in 1962, who approved the Rouse Company development of Columbia, Maryland.The Black House sits on a 250-acre former dairy farmed by the Black family since 1883. The land is part of a group of original land patents named Hobson's Choice, Wise Man's Folly, Additional Defense, Range Declined, Acorn Hill, Ridgley's Great Park, The Dispute, and Dispute Ended. Former owners included Samuel and Amelia Jarden in 1872, Josuha D. Warfield in 1869, and Phillip Welsh in 1808. The house is a three-bay-wide 2+1⁄2-story building constructed in 1860 during the last years of slavery in the Howard District of Anne Arundel County.

Lisbon is a census-designated place located in western Howard County in the state of Maryland, United States, located roughly between Baltimore and Frederick and north of Washington, D.C. It is contained in an area of roughly one square mile. Lisbon is located along Interstate 70 and Maryland Route 144 and is home to the first roundabout in Maryland (opened in 1993). It first appeared as a CDP in the 2020 Census with a population of 282.

Florence is an unincorporated community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. A post office operated in Florence between June 17, 1868, and March 31, 1906. Governor Edwin Warfield taught in the neighborhood one room schoolhouse. The town was named by Gassaway Watkins Warfield before his death in Camp Chase while serving in the Confederate Army. The town was located at the crossroads of Florence and Jennings Chapel roads. Jennings Chapel was named for Dr. Samuel Kennedy Jennings after the congregation relocated from the Crapster schoolhouse.By 1870, the population increased to 16 and 25 by 1880.Picketts general store for the town was destroyed by fire in 1909.

Hobson's Choice, is an historic home located at Woodbine, Howard County, Maryland. It is a five-bay, two-and-a-half-story rectangular brick house built about 1830, with a low-pitched gable roof and a recent low two-story frame rear wing. The woodwork is Greek Revival in influence.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Woodbine is an unincorporated rural community in Howard and Carroll counties, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Baltimorean metropolitan area. It is located southeast of Frederick, west of Baltimore, north of Washington, D.C., and east of Mount Airy. The community was named for the woodbine plant, which grew in the community in fields and along riverbanks.

Cherry Grove, located on property formerly called Fredericksburg, 400 acres patented by Orlando Griffith's oldest son Henry Griffith in 1750. Cherry Grove is a historic home and former plantation located at Woodbine, Howard County, Maryland, United States. The home is considered the seat of the Warfield family of Maryland.The multi-part house was built by Captain Benjamin Warfield starting after 1766 after acquiring a 550-acre land grant from Henry Griffith named "Fredericksburg". The complex includes a ca. 1798 log ground barn, an 1860-1890 frame wagon shed with corn crib, an early-20th century frame water tower, frame ground barn with cantilevered forebay, frame shed, frame dairy barn, concrete silo, concrete block dairy, and several frame shelter sheds. The buildings are located on a generally flat site surrounded by gently rolling terrain and are set well back from the road along a gravel drive that winds through the center of the farm. The J.P Tarenz log house was a log slave quarters built around 1768 that was moved offsite after the Civil War to accommodate people freed from slavery. The remains of Maryland's 45th Governor Edwin Warfield (1848–1920), are buried onsite in the family cemetery.The property was owned by Arthur G. Nichols Jr. and wife in 1976 and was subdivided down to 338 acres.Cherry Grove was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The Carr's Mill Landfill (JTC Carrs Mill Landfill) is a controversial landfill in Howard County, Maryland in the United States. Its official address is 15900 Carrs Mill Road in Lisbon, Maryland. Carr's Mill is the second official landfill built in Howard County, Maryland which operated from 1953 to 1977. Howard County's first landfill was New Cut in Ellicott City, Maryland which operated from 1944 to 1980. Alpha Ridge Landfill operated between 1980 and 1997 before the county switched to offsite waste disposal.

Cattail Creek Quarry is a historic industrial quarry in Lisbon, Howard County, Maryland. Near modern Glenwood, Woodbine and Daisy, Maryland at 2425 Daisy Road. The location is archeologically significant as the northernmost (upstream) location of prehistoric lithographs from a culture of hunters that ranged 170 miles South to the Chesapeake.The quarry was hand mined by African American laborers. Local historian Silas Craft wrote of Channing William Dorsey finding the highest pay for African Americans in the county working the quarry and sawmill of Cattail (and Guilford) at the turn of the century.A residential home was built in 1977 adjacent to the quarry. The quarry was allowed to fill with water shortly afterward. A historic survey was conducted in 1979, but the county records have been removed.

Daisy United Methodist Church, is a historic African American Church located at 2685 Daisy Road in Woodbine, Maryland. The building was constructed in 1890.

Sunnyside or Sunnyside Farms is a historic slave plantation home located in Woodbine, Howard County, Maryland. Sunnyside began as a log cabin built in 1800 by Capt. Banjamin Warfield of Cherry Grove's son Joshua Warfield. In 1830, Albert Gallatin Warfield expanded the home, and a second expansion was completed in 1890 by his son Joshua Warfield.Albert Warfield was known for generously freeing his slaves at the age of 40, albeit at a time when life expectancy was shorter. His son Joshua Warfield operated a title company, and imported food waste for composting fertilizer for soil. The house later passed to Norman Hutton Warfield (1889 - 1955) who worked for the Federal Land Trust. The last Warfield heir to own the estate was the assistant states attorney for Howard County, Albert Gassaway Warfield III (-1983) who worked for Pierce, Fenner and Smith Inc. The farm is now known as Timberleigh Farm
