Sykesville station is an historic railway station was built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's Old Main Line in 1831, located in the town of Sykesville, Maryland in Howard County on 7618 West Main Street. Sykesville had two side platforms, two railroad tracks, and a station building. The station was closed in 1950 and the station building is now a restaurant.

The Sykesville Historic District encompasses the center of Sykesville, Maryland. Sykesville is a small incorporated town in the Patapsco River valley in southern Carroll County, Maryland, and is located on the old main line of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O), one of the first railroad lines in the United States, that section dating from 1831. The B&O train station is included in the district, next to the river. It was designed by E. Francis Baldwin in the Queen Anne style and built in 1883. It is currently a restaurant having outdoor seating on the original platform (only goods trains now pass). Other historically significant buildings in the district were built between the 1850s and the 1920s.

Hugg-Thomas Wildlife Management Area is a Wildlife Management Area in Howard County, Maryland, south of the town of Sykesville. The area comprises two parcels totaling 275 acres (111 ha). The Carroll County portion includes the estate of Admiral Jacob Hugg, including the ruins of the Hugg mansion.

Springfield Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is a 1+1⁄2-story brick structure in Flemish bond on a stone foundation. The church was built in 1836 and is a 3-story structure constructed of uncoursed rubble stone covered in stucco. It served as the area's first school as well as the building of worship for the Presbyterian congregation. The church was founded by immigrants from Scotland and the church holds cultural events to celebrate its Scottish heritage.The Springfield Presbyterian Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

It comprises the historic core of the women's facility at Springfield State Hospital, a public mental institution. It was developed over the period 1898–1939. The complex comprises 16 contributing resources unified by a consistently high level of architectural elaboration in the Georgian and Colonial Revival style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Gaither is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is located along Gaither Road, just north of the South Branch of the Patapsco River and the Old Main Line railroad line of CSX Transportation.

Salopha or Solopha is a historic plantation house located in Sykesville, Howard County, Maryland.Salopha is a historic house, farm and bank barn. The farm house is built around a log house constructed in 1718 that predates the land grant patented to John Johnson in September 18, 1742. In 1762 Vachel Dorsey expanded the structure. The property was purchased in 1829 by Charles Alexander Warfield for $2,400 (~$74,723 in 2022). In 1889 the house was modified in a Gothic revival style. The home is the birthplace of former Carroll County commissioner Joshua Warfield Dorsey Sr. The bank barn built by the Warfield brothers in 1889 burned in 1972.

Springfield Hospital Center is a regional psychiatric hospital located in Sykesville, Maryland, United States. It first opened in 1896.William Patterson, a founder of the B&O railroad, built Springfield as a summer home and slave plantation on 3,000 acres. The estate was later purchased by Frank Brown who would become the Governor of Maryland. While serving as governor, he sold the estate to the State of Maryland for a mental hospital.It is operated by the Maryland Department of Health through the Mental Hygiene Administration. The historic core of the hospital was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Warfield Complex, Hubner, and T Buildings in 2000.

Located Cooksville near Sykesville in Howard County, Maryland, United States, Pleasant Valley, known as Lost by Neglect. The historic house is located on a portion of the 100-acre land grant named "Good Neighborhood" surveyed by Adam Shipley in 1742. In 1754, the section was part of a 103-acre land grant surveyed by Mordecai Selby Sr. called "Selby's Inheritance" and resurveyed as a 226-acre lot in 1775 as "Lost by Neglect". The original structure was built with stone construction in 1754. In 1859, a wooden addition was built by Henry Forsythe and given the name Pleasant Valley. In 1888 Henry Forsythe moved to the neighboring "Oaklands" plantation, leaving the estate in the hands of his heirs. Outbuilding include two barns, one of which was built with peg construction situated on land that has been subdivided from the estate. By 1976, the estate has been subdivided leaving only 14 acres of the original parcel remaining.

Howard Lodge is a historic plantation house in north-central Howard County, Maryland. The main house, built around 1750 by Edward Dorsey, son of John Dorsey, is one of the oldest plantation houses in the county. Compared to other houses of the period, the two-story brick and stone structure is larger and its interior finishes better preserved. The surviving plantation property, about 15 acres (6.1 ha), also includes early 19th-century stone outbuildings. Edward Dorsey was given ownership of seven African-American slaves by his father John Dorsey.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
