Pillow-Bethel House

Clifton Place is an historic plantation mansion located southwest of the city of Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee on the Mt. Pleasant Pike (Columbia highway). Master builder Nathan Vaught started construction in 1838, and the mansion and other buildings were completed in 1839, for Gideon Johnson Pillow (1806-1877) on land inherited from Gideon Pillow.

Pine Hill is a historic mansion in Ashwood, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in 1839 for Samuel Henry Armstrong, a wheat, corn and tobacco farmer. It was purchased by the Dixon family in 1869.The house was designed in the Federal architectural style, with a Greek Revival portico. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 15, 1983.

St. John's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church in Ashwood, Maury County, Tennessee, United States. Built from 1839 to 1842 by Bishop Leonidas Polk, it was an active church in the Antebellum South. It was ransacked and later used as a hospital for the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War of 1861–1865. Services resumed after the war, but they were discontinued due to low attendance in 1915. It is now closed, except for an annual pilgrimage.

Hamilton Place is an antebellum plantation house in Maury County, Tennessee, near Columbia. The house was completed in 1832. It was built for Lucius Junius Polk, a wealthy cotton planter who served as a state senator and later as Tennessee's adjutant-general, by master builder Nathan Vaught. The Palladian design of its front facade is based on Palladio's design for the Villa Pisani at Montagnana. The interior floor plan was loosely based on the White House floor plan, and an interior arcade is styled after a design by Brunelleschi for a hospital in Florence, Italy.Hamilton Place was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is across the highway from Rattle and Snap, the house built in 1845 for Lucius J. Polk's brother George Washington Polk.

Rattle and Snap (also called the Polk-Granberry House and once known as Oakwood Hall) is a plantation estate at 1522 North Main Street in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. The centerpiece of the estate is a mid-1840s mansion that is one of grandest expressions of the Greek Revival in Tennessee. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971 for its architecture, and for its association with the Polk family, once one of eastern Tennessee's largest landowners. The house is privately owned, but may be viewed by appointment.

The Zion Presbyterian Church is a historic building in Maury County, Tennessee. The church was built between 1847 and 1849 of brick in the Greek Revival style. President James K. Polk attended a school conducted by the church. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1972.

Columbia State Community College is a public community college in Columbia, Tennessee. Founded in 1966, it serves nine counties in southern Middle Tennessee through five campuses. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Science in Teaching, Associate of Fine Arts, and Associate of Applied Science degrees, and technical certificates.

Mule Day, an annual celebration of all things related to mules, is held in Columbia, Tennessee, the self-proclaimed "Mule Capital" of the world. Begun in 1840 as "Breeder's Day", a meeting for mule breeders, it now attracts over 200,000 people and takes place over four days. In addition to mules, traditional Appalachian food, music, dancing, and crafts are featured.
