Black Forest National Park

The Ruhestein is a mountain pass (915 m above NN) between the Murg valley and the Acher valley in the Northern Black Forest. The border between the old Grand Duchy of Baden and the Kingdom of Württemberg ran over the pass, a large sandstone erratic marking the former border. Today it forms the provincial, county and municipal boundary between Baiersbronn (county of Freudenstadt) and Seebach (Ortenaukreis). The Ruhestein is a rest area for all those who want to cross the mountain ridge from one valley to the other. Ruhestein lies on the Black Forest High Road, which links Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt. It is a popular day trip and recreation destination and a well known winter sports resort with ski lifts on the Ruhesteinberg, ski jumps (Große Ruhesteinschanze) and loipes. The winding road between Baiersbronn-Obertal and the Ruhestein was used once, on 21 July 1946, for a mountain motor race, the Bergrennen Obertal-Ruhestein, during which 3 participants lost their lives. Around Ruhestein lies one of the two parts of the Black Forest National Park which was opened on 1 January 2014. The Ruhestein Nature Conservation Centre at the top of the pass has exhibitions and events about conservation. In addition, the head office of the national park and the Central/North Black Forest Nature Park are based here. The so-called Lothar Path on the Schliffkopf mountain was laid on an area of windthrow following the passage of Hurricane Lothar on 26 December 1999. Visitors are led along an 800-metre-long educational and experience trail, which takes them over steps, bridges and boardwalks through the 10 hectares of devastated forest, and enables them to observe how the forces of nature operate and how such areas recover naturally after storm devastation. West of Ruhestein the only klettersteig in the Northern Black Forest runs up the Karlsruher Grat.

The Seekopf is a mountain on the main chain of the Northern Black Forest in Germany between the Upper Rhine Plain and the Murg valley, above Seebach. It is 1,054.2 m above sea level (NHN) and lies on the boundary of the counties of Ortenaukreis and Freudenstadt in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The mountain ridge, the upper area of which is formed of bunter sandstone, belongs to the natural region known as Grindenschwarzwald and Enzhöhen. The Black Forest High Road (B 500) runs along its western flank and, below the eastern mountainside, is a tarn, the Wildsee. The West Way runs over the mountain leading to Ruhestein, 1.5 kilometres to the southwest. The Seekopf lies within the Black Forest National Park, established in 2014. On the summit plateau is the grave of Julius Euting, a well-known orientalist and co-founder of the Vosges Club.

Wildsee is a small tarn within a cirque in the Black Forest near Baiersbronn, Germany. It is part of the Black Forest National Park and the Wilder See - Hornisgrinde Nature Reserve.

The Schliffkopf is a mountain in the Northern Black Forest between Baiersbronn, Ottenhöfen and Oppenau. It is 1,053.6 m above sea level (NHN). The Schliffkopf lies on the Black Forest High Road in the National Park and is the site of an eponymous four-star "wellness" hotel. Various long-distance paths, including the West Way, run over the Schliffkopf. At the end of June 2003 a nature trail, the Lothar Path (Lotharpfad), was opened at the Schliffkopf on the topic of storm damage. Along an 800-metre-long educational and experience trail, visitors can see how this ten-hectare area, heavily damaged by Hurricane Lothar in 1999, has gradually recovered and been recolonized. The Lothar Path runs along footbridges, ladders and steps and shows how the forces of nature act, how nature deals with destruction in such an area and what naturally regrows. The Schliffkopf is a source region for the Acher and the Murg.

All Saints' Abbey (German: Kloster Allerheiligen) was a Premonstratensian monastery near Oppenau in the Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located at 620 metres above sea level in the upper valley of the Lierbach.

The Karlsruher Grat is a mountain ridge approximately 400 m long, situated near Ottenhöfen in the Black Forest in Germany. An alpine route with a climbing section passes along it. It is considered the only via ferrata in the Northern Black Forest.

The Mummelsee is a 17-metre-deep lake at the western mountainside of the Hornisgrinde in the Northern Black Forest of Germany. It is very popular with tourists travelling along the Black Forest High Road. According to legends, the lake is inhabited by a Nix and the King of the Mummelsee.With a circumference of 800 meters, the Mummelsee is the largest of the seven cirque lakes in the Black Forest, the deepest at 17 m deep and the highest at 1036 m.

The All Saints Waterfalls (German: Allerheiligen-Wasserfälle) are located in the Black Forest on the territory of the town of Oppenau in the German state of Baden-Württemberg at an elevation of about 500 m above NN. The Lierbach stream, also called the Grindenbach, cascades, as a natural waterfall, down seven steps, a total drop of 83 metres. Due to the scouring of the rocks under the cataract which have formed basin-like holes known as Gumpen or kolks), the falls are also called the Büttensteiner Waterfalls ("Tub Stone" waterfalls) or Sieben Bütten ("Seven Tubs").

Seebach is a town in the district of Ortenau in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

The Hornisgrinde, 1,164 m (3,820 ft), is the highest mountain in the Northern Black Forest of Germany. The Hornisgrinde lies in northern Ortenaukreis district.
