Kerteminde Fjord

Until 1 January 2007 Munkebo municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in former Funen County on the northeast coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 19 km2, and had a total population of 5,720 (2005). Its last mayor was Palle Hansborg-Sørensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Denmark) (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main city and the site of its municipal council was the town of Munkebo. The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") from Munkebo Parish (Bjerge Herred). Munkebo municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Kerteminde and Langeskov municipalities to form an enlarged Kerteminde municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 203 km2 and a total population of 23,071 (2005). The municipality belongs to the new Region of Southern Denmark.

Odense Steel Shipyard (Danish: Odense Staalskibsværft) was a Danish shipyard company located in Odense. It was best known for building container ships for its parent group, A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, including the Mærsk E class in 2006 which at the time were the biggest container ships in the world. The global financial crisis led to Maersk announcing its closure in 2009 and the last new ship was delivered in January 2012.

Bregnør Fiskerleje is a fishing village to the northeast of Odense, and northwest of Kerteminde in Kerteminde Municipality, Funen, Denmark. Bregnor lies 2.3 miles (3.7 km) to the southeast of the entrance passage to Odense Fjord, and contains a small harbour.

Odense Fjord is a 13 km long fjord on the northern part of the Danish island of Funen. It covers an area of about 63 km2.

Agedrup is a village and northeastern suburb of Odense, Funen, Denmark. It contains a church, Agedrup Church (Agedrup Kirke).

Tornø (meaning Thorn Island) is a small island in the Odense Fjord, roughly 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) northeast of the city of Odense, in Kerteminde Municipality, Funen, Denmark. It covers an area of 21 hectares (52 acres) and is connected to the mainland by a 300 m (980 ft)-long causeway. The first tenant farmer on the island was Hans Eriksen in 1921.For years the island could only be reached by riding or driving through the shallow waters but after Anders Jørgensen bought the island in 1922, he connected it to the mainland by road so that he could transport shells from the island. The link was completed in 1926. His shell crushing plant has long disappeared but the land is still farmed on Odense Fjord's only inhabited island. The original farm has long been replaced by a modern brick building. As of 2006 the island had a population of 3 people, with 4 people reported in 2014, although the island is inaccessible to the general public. It contains a narrow strip of salt marsh.

Langeskov is a town in central Denmark, with a population of 4,293 (1 January 2023), located in Kerteminde Municipality in Region of Southern Denmark on the island of Funen. The town of Langeskov is primarily located in Rønninge parish and was established following the construction of the railway line between Odense and Nyborg in the 19th century. The town has grown rapidly and its northern part now crosses the old parish border and extends into the parish of Birkende. Until 1 January 2007, it was the seat of the municipal council of the now former Langeskov Municipality. Langeskov is served by Langeskov railway station on the railway line across Funen. The station re-opened in 2015 after being closed in 1977. Langeskov has a model of Preikestolen to commemorate its twin town, Forsand.

Other towns in the municipality were Birkende, Marslev, and Rønninge, which also lend their names to the parishes within the municipality. Langeskov municipality was known locally for being good at attracting industry, and had a better economy than most, if not all, of the neighbouring municipalities. Langeskov is the home of a local newspaper, Nordøstfyns Avis (The North-East Funen Paper). The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that merged three parishes: Birkende parish, Marslev parish, and Rønninge parish. The two former formed Marslev-Birkende municipality, while Rønninge was an independent municipality. The founders of Langeskov municipality had originally hoped that more parishes would join the new municipality, but Kølstrup chose Kerteminde municipality instead and Rolfsted joined Årslev municipality. As a result, Langeskov municipality became relatively small. Langeskov municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Kerteminde and Munkebo municipalities to form an enlarged Kerteminde municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 203 km2 and a total population of 23,071 (2005). The municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark.

Vigelsø is a small, uninhabited island in Odense Fjord, off the coast of Funen, Denmark. With an area of 132 hectares (330 acres), it is the largest island in the fjord and an important breeding ground for waterfowl and rest stop for migratory birds. It is part of the Special Area of Conservation No. SPC 94, Odense Fjord under the EU Habitat and Birds Directives.
