Navy Annex

The United States Air Force Memorial honors the service of the personnel of the United States Air Force and its heritage organizations. The Memorial is located in Arlington County, Virginia, on the former grounds of the Navy Annex near The Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. The Memorial is southwest of the intersection of Columbia Pike and South Joyce Street and is accessible from the north side of Columbia Pike. It was the last project of American architect James Ingo Freed (known for the design of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum) with the firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.

Fort Albany was a bastioned earthwork that the Union Army built in Arlington County (known at the time as Alexandria County) in Virginia. The Army constructed the fort during May 1861 as part of its Civil War defenses of Washington (see Washington, D.C., in the American Civil War).The fort had a perimeter of 429 yards and emplacements for 12 guns.Fort Richardson, Fort Craig and Fort Tillinghast provided supporting fire for the fort. A May 17, 1864, report from the Union Army's Inspector of Artillery (see Union Army artillery organization) noted the following:Fort Albany, Captain Rhodes commanding.–Garrison, one company First Massachusetts Volunteers–5 commissioned officers, 1 ordnance-sergeant, 145 men. Armament, two 24-pounder field howitzers, four 24-pounder siege, two Parrotts, one Coehorn mortar, one 10-inch mortar. Magazines, two; dry and in good order. Ammunition, full supply and in good condition. Implements, complete and in good order. Drill in artillery, fair. Drill in infantry, fair. Discipline, fair. Garrison of sufficient strength. No trace of the fort remains, although a historic marker shows the location where the fort once stood, guarding the approach to the Long Bridge along the Columbia Turnpike, near the modern-day Pentagon. The ground on which the Fort stood was cut away during the construction of the Henry G. Shirley Memorial Highway, in 1942.

Henderson Hall is a military installation of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) located in Arlington County, Virginia, near the Pentagon, on the southern edge of the Arlington National Cemetery and next to Fort Myer. Currently, it is part of Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall. Henderson Hall is named for Brevet Brigadier General Archibald Henderson, the fifth and longest-serving Commandant of the Marine Corps.

Marie Therese Rossi-Cayton (January 3, 1959 – March 1, 1991) was the first woman in American military history to serve in combat as an aviation unit commander, during the Persian Gulf War in 1991, and the first woman pilot in United States history to fly combat missions. She was killed when the CH-47 Chinook she was piloting crashed in Saudi Arabia, on March 1, 1991.

Prospect Hill in Arlington County, Virginia is the former location of a Federal style mansion built in 1841 by successful contractor James Roach in Arlington County (then named Alexandria County). The house was built on Arlington Ridge Road. In 1861, the land was seized and vandalized by Union soldiers during the construction of Fort Runyon and Fort Albany. The house was demolished in 1965, but an historic marker has been placed at the site. Roach had also supplied most of the materials for the Alexandria Canal, the Aqueduct Bridge, and the Alexandria, Loudoun and Hampshire Railroad.After the September 11 attacks, Prospect Hill became a popular spot for photographs to take photos of The Pentagon after it was crashed into by American Airlines Flight 77.The site is also home to the 0.4 acre Prospect Hill Park.

Abbey Mausoleum was a mausoleum in Arlington County, Virginia, in the United States founded in 1924. One of the most luxurious burial places in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, many famous individuals, judges, and military leaders were buried there. The mausoleum encountered financial difficulties and declared bankruptcy in 1966. It suffered vandalism numerous times, and several graves were desecrated. Remains buried there were disinterred and reburied elsewhere, and it was demolished in February 2001. Several architectural features of the structure were salvaged. It was located just outside Arlington National Cemetery next to Henderson Hall (Arlington, Virginia).

The Miles Mausoleum is located in Section 3 of Arlington National Cemetery. Many members and descendants of the Miles Family (Lieutenant General Nelson Appleton Miles and Major General Sherman Miles) are buried in this mausoleum on a hill in Section 3 of Arlington National Cemetery. It is one of only two mausolea located within the confines of the cemetery. The only other one belongs to the family of General Thomas Crook Sullivan and it is located in Section 1.

Isaac William Littell (5 December 1857 – 1 May 1924) was a United States Army brigadier general. He was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal for meritorious and distinguished service during World War I. Specifically, Littell was honored for building the camps and cantonments of the Army raised in the summer of 1917 as chief of the Cantonment Division of the Quartermaster General's Office.

The Harry W. Gray House is a historic home located in Arlington, Virginia. It was built in 1881, and is two-story, three bay, "L"-shaped brick free-standing rowhouse dwelling in the Italianate style. It has a standing seam metal shed roof and full-width one-story front porch. It was built by Harry W. Gray (c.1851-1913), a former slave on General Robert E. Lee's Arlington House estate and the son of Selina Gray. It is a rare example of the brick rowhouse in Arlington County.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Argonne Cross Memorial is a memorial to American military personnel who died fighting in France during World War I. It was erected on November 13, 1923, and stands in Section 18 of Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, in the United States.

Pentagon Row is an upscale outdoor shopping and residential center in Arlington, Virginia, United States with storefronts facing South Joyce Street. It is adjacent to the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. It is noted as being one of the contributing factors to the failure of the nearby Landmark Mall. In December 2020 it changed its name to "Westpost" in a rebranding move.

Sue Jehl (née Sue Sarafian) (February 14, 1917 – April 13, 1997) was one of the best known Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) personnel to serve the United States during World War II. She was one of the three personal secretaries to General Dwight David Eisenhower, serving him from January 1943 to April 1947.She was one of the first women from the Detroit area to enlist in the WAAC (established on May 14, 1942). Sarafian Jehl enlisted for the corps in July 1942. The WAAC provided secretaries, switchboard operators and cooks for the army.
