Nyborg is a city in central Denmark, located in Nyborg Municipality on the island of Funen and with a population of 17,525 (2022). It is the easternmost settlement on Funen. By road, it is located 34 km east of Odense, 35 km north of Svendborg and 21 km south of Kerteminde. It also connects to Korsør through the Great Belt Bridge. Nyborg is the seat of Nyborg Municipality, and until 1793 it was also the seat of Nyborg County. The city was founded in the 1200s, built up around Nyborg Castle. The castle holds a central place in Nyborg geographically, historically and culturally.

Nyborg Town Hall is the seat of Nyborg Municipality on eastern Funen, Denmark.

Korsbrødregården is the ancient compound of the Knights Hospitaller in the Danish city of Nyborg, founded as a dependency of their castle and hospital in Antvorskov. It is situated south of Vor Frue Kirke (Our Lady's CHurch) just across the small street named Korsbrødregade. The Brick Gothic building has been erected at about 1400 and was first mentioned in 1405. It consists of two ailes. the northern one has a large vaulted cellar with two naves. After 1613, the building was enlarged, and one of its stepped gables was changed for a Renaissance volute gable.

The State Prison in Nyborg is a closed state prison, which was built in 1913 at the town of Nyborg in Denmark. In the beginning it was used to place young inmates, who needed a special educational effort. From 1933 to 1973 the prison had a special section for young people, but since 1973 the prison have functioned as a plain closed state prison for males from Jutland and Funen. The prison have seats in total, of which 24 seats are under the arrest department used by the Police of Denmark. It was home to Knud Pedersen leader of the Churchill club in WW2.

Slipshavn is a peninsula off the east coast of Funen, Denmark. Together with Knudshoved to the north, it forms a natural harbor at Nyborg Fjord.

Aunslev is a village in central Denmark, in Nyborg Municipality on the island of Funen. Aunslev lies 10 kilometers north of Hjulby, 7 kilometers northwest of Nyborg and 32 kilometers east of Odense. The village belongs to the parish of Aunslev. Aunslev has historically been divided into two villages, respectively Agnslev Overby and Agnslev Nederby, but the villages have today grown together. Overby and Nederby still exist as regions of the village.

The Great Belt Bridge rail accident occurred on 2 January 2019 on the Great Belt Fixed Link in Denmark when a passenger train collided with a semi-trailer from or on a passing freight train. The Great Belt Fixed Link is an 18 km (11 mi) long bridge–tunnel connection between the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen, and the accident happened on the West Bridge, near Funen. The accident happened during a storm, which had closed down the bridge for road traffic, but not for rail traffic. Eight passengers were killed, all Danish citizens, and 16 were injured, making it the deadliest rail accident in Denmark since 1988.An early investigation found that in some cases, wagons similar to the one involved in the accident failed to lock the semi-trailers in place. A full investigation was published several months later and it confirmed the earlier results. The Danish Transport Authority temporarily banned this kind of wagon until extra locking procedures were put in place, and have tightened the rules for freight on the bridge during windy weather. Shortly after, temporary measures to avoid similar accidents were introduced throughout Europe and permanent measures will be introduced in early 2020.In January 2021 the use of pocket wagons was again suspended in Denmark, following an incident on the same bridge when a semi-trailer had shifted position, and had protruded beyond the side of its freight wagon.

Tårup is a village in central Denmark, located in Nyborg municipality on the island of Funen in Region of Southern Denmark.

Nyborg Municipality is a municipality (Danish: kommune) in Region of Southern Denmark on the east coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 278 km2, and has a total population of 32,262 (2023). It borders Kerteminde Municipality to the north-west, Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality to the south-west, Svendborg Municipality to the south and is connected to Slagelse Municipality by the Great Belt Bridge. Its mayor is Kenneth Muhs, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Nyborg. The municipality was formed in 2007 as a result of the 2007 Municipal Reform, where the former Nyborg Municipality merged with Ørbæk and Ullerslev Municipality. The island of Sprogø lies in the Great Belt c. 8.5 kilometers from the shores of the town of Nyborg. The Great Belt Bridge connects the municipality to the island, and then it continues to the island of Zealand at the town of Korsør. Holckenhavn Fjord cuts into the municipality on its eastern shore, north of the castle of Holckenhavn. A road (Svendborgvej) connects the municipality across the fjord.

Until 1 January 2007 Aaskov Municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Ringkøbing County on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 239 km2, and had a total population of 6,999 (2005). Its latest mayor was Jørgen Jørgensen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Kibæk. Another town in the municipality was Sdr. Felding. Aaskov municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). On January 1, 2007 it was merged with former Aulum-Haderup, Herning, and Trehøje municipalities to form the new Herning municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 1,336 km2 and a total population of 82,935 (2005). The new municipality belongs to the Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
