It is the largest yeshiva college on the West Coast of the United States.The yeshiva also houses a private boys high school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, called Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad High School.The seminary is affiliated with the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement. Osteria Mozza is a Michelin Guide-starred Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, California.In 2007, Nancy Silverton partnered with New York chef Mario Batali and his frequent collaborator Joseph Bastianich to open an Italian restaurant, Osteria Mozza. Reminiscent of the evolution of La Brea Bakery, a pizzeria, Pizzeria Mozza, opened in an adjoining space prior to the opening of the main restaurant. It was met with an "instant and outsize swoon." The Los Angeles Times gave it a four-star review, and the New York Times called it a "serious and impressive restaurant."Four months after the opening of the pizzeria, Osteria Mozza opened to similar acclaim. Although the restaurant's entire menu was widely praised, Silverton's interpretation of antipasti as a Mozzarella bar won particular recognition, with Zagat's noting that she had "perfected the art of cheese." It was nominated as Best New Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation the year it opened, and was awarded a Michelin star in 2008. Osteria Mozza maintained its Michelin star in the 2022 Michelin Guide for California.Osteria Mozza later opened restaurants in Newport Beach, California (Pizzeria Mozza), and Singapore. The Groundlings are an improvisational and sketch comedy troupe and school based in Los Angeles, California. The troupe was formed by Gary Austin in 1974 and uses an improv format influenced by Viola Spolin, whose improvisational theater techniques were used by Del Close and other members of the Second City, located in Chicago and later St. Louis. They used these techniques to produce sketches and improvised scenes. Its name is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act III, Scene II: "...to split the ears of the groundlings, who for the most part are capable of nothing but inexplicable dumbshows and noise." In 1975 the troupe purchased and moved into its current location on Melrose Avenue. The Groundlings School holds new sessions every six weeks with over 300 students per session, with more than 2,000 students per year going through the program. The competitive program, with admission by audition, consists of five levels (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced Improv, Writing Lab, and Advanced Lab). Participants must satisfy instructors in order to advance. The program takes years to complete, as 18-month to two-year wait-lists between upper levels are common. Students may be asked to repeat Basic and Intermediate classes multiple times. By the late 2000s, students had one chance to complete classes in Improv and Writing. Failure to pass either of these classes means a student cannot complete the program, nor be invited into the Sunday Company. Students may be voted into the Sunday Company, where they may remain for no more than two years. Many move on sooner than that. Many Groundlings performers have found success in movies and television, including several who have become cast members and writers on Saturday Night Live, MADtv, and Reno 911!.

Chalice Recording Studio is located in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States. Chalice opened in 2002 and is known for its elaborate interior decor and its large collection of rare and vintage analog recording equipment.When Chalice founder Ben Tao purchased 845 N. Highland in 2000, he chose to create an environment in which decorative detail could contribute to the artistic process. He wanted clients to be surrounded by amenities that one would normally find in upscale boutique hotels. The interior is influenced by global images and motifs such as photographs by Karl Blossfeld, artistic design from director Tarsem Singh's 'The Cell', imagery from 19th century Indo-Chinese opium dens and the Chalice Well located at the foot of Glastonbury Tor in Somerset, England. Chalice's logo is a mix of the form of a goblet and the blossom of the opium flower.The first session was with Wyclef Jean. The studio has concentrated on pop music, with artists such as Justin Bieber, One Direction, the cast of Glee, and hip-hop artists Game, Nicki Minaj, Tyler, the Creator, Travis Scott, Diddy, Dr. Dre, T.I., Young Jeezy, and Nas. Albums which have been recorded and mixed at Chalice have achieved gold and platinum status.

The murder of Brianna Kupfer occurred on January 13, 2022, in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Kupfer, a 24-year-old student at the University of California, Los Angeles, was murdered by Shawn Laval Smith. Smith, a 31-year-old man with an extensive criminal record, stabbed Kupfer to death in the Croft House store where she was working in the Hancock Park neighborhood. A few minutes later, a customer found Kupfer's stabbed body, covered in blood. Kupfer was pronounced dead that day. The search for the murder suspect became one of the biggest in the Southern California region, with a $250,000 reward offered, drawing public attention and media coverage. On January 19, Smith was found and arrested in Pasadena, California, and charged of first-degree murder with special circumstances and use of a deadly weapon during the commission of the murder. The prosecutor in charge of the case said that Kupfer's murder was motivated by Smith's hatred of women. In September 2024, a jury of the Los Angeles County found Smith guilty of both charges. Smith faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

The West Hollywood Gateway is a 248,000 sq ft (23,000 m2) two-level urban vertical retail power center in West Hollywood, California. It was developed by the JH Snyder Company and designed by architect Jon Jerde, located on the southwest corner Santa Monica Blvd. and La Brea Avenue at the border of West Hollywood and Los Angeles. The structure features two subterranean parking levels and two above-ground retail levels. The mall is anchored by the first big box retailers in the city, Target and Best Buy, and it also features eight restaurants as well as several retail stores.Occupying a total of 257,000 square feet (23,900 m2), construction on the West Hollywood Gateway began in September 2002 as part of the City of West Hollywood's Santa Monica Blvd. Redevelopment project. The West Hollywood Gateway opened to the public in March 2004. The site includes the free-standing famous Hollywood landmark, the Formosa Cafe. The center is also home to the Los Angeles' largest public art display using projection technology, which is located above the main courtyard. This art display was designed by renowned video artist Paul Tzanetopoulos. The center "features a large outdoor plaza that functions as a civic square, inviting pedestrian activity through the use of outdoor eating areas, fountains, public art, retail kiosks and lush landscaping." As of September 2018, the parking structure offers one hour of free parking (no validation required) to all visitors. There are two bicycle parking areas.
