Kottayil Kovilakam or Kottayil Kovilakom is a small village in the Paravur taluk, Ernakulam district of Kerala state, near Kochi, south India. It has a temple devoted to Krishna located on the top of a hill. Kottayil Kovilakam - on the banks of the confluence of three rivers is a small hill on top of which there is a Krishna Temple, a Syrian Church, a Mosque and a Jewish Synagogue depicting the cultural harmony of Kerala. All the above lie in 1 km circumference. Kottayil Kovilakam at Chendamangalam, which was the seat of Kshatriya chieftains of Villarvattom is situated near the ancient Kunnathuthali temple. Chendamangalam is an important center of hand loom weaving and coir manufacturing. Near the Krishna temple on one side tipu sultans cave and on either side Arabs cemetery. On the riverside a group of huge rocks known as 'ANAPARA' is the main highlight. The kunnathuthali temples were constructed 400 years ago.

Puthenvelikara (aka Newfenceland) is a village at North end of the Ernakulam district, situated in the Paravur Taluk of Kerala, India. The Chalakkudy River merges with the Periyar River at Elenthikara in the village of Puthenvelikkara. Puthenvelikkara is on the banks of the river Periyar, Chalakudy and Kottapuram lagoon. It is a centre of agricultural production in the region with its many rice paddy fields.

Chalakudy River or Chalakudy Puzha is the fifth longest river in Kerala, India. The river flows through Thrissur district, Palakkad district and Ernakulam district of Kerala. The total drainage area of the river is 1704 km2. Out of this,1404 km2 lies in Kerala and the rest in Tamil Nadu. The length of the river is 145.5 km. Though Chalakudy River in strict geological sense is a tributary of the Periyar river, for all practical purposes it is treated as a separate river by Government and other agencies. The river has gained its name since it flows along the banks of the Chalakudy Town, the major settlement along the course of the river. It is perhaps the most unpolluted and pristine river in the state and even in India due to the limited amount of industries and wastage disposal around it. Chalakudy River and its basin area were one of the most affected rivers during the 2018 Kerala floods.

North Paravur. formerly known as Paravur or Parur, is a municipality in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a northern suburb of the city of Kochi and is situated around 20 km from the city centre. It is also the first place in India to use electronic voting machine during the by-elections in 1982.

The Dakshina Mookambika Temple is a famous Saraswati temple in the town of North Paravur in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. The presiding deity in this temple is Saraswati and sub-deities are Ganapathy, Subrahmanyan, Mahavishnu, Yakshi, Hanuman and Veerabhadran. A shrine devoted to Yakshi is at the southwest corner. The sanctum sanctorum is in the midst of a lotus pool. According to legends, Thampuran (ruler) of Paravur was a great devotee of Goddess Mookambika. He used to visit the Kollur temple in Mangalore every year to pay homage to the goddess. When he became old, his health worsened and he could no longer undertake the long journey to Kollur. The goddess appeared to the sad devotee in a dream and ordered him to build her idol near his palace so that he can have daily darshan of her. Thampuran followed her instructions, built a temple at Paravur and installed the Goddess.

Lakshmi College is one of the largest parallel colleges in Kerala, India with more than three thousand students. This college was founded in the 1980s by an enterprising trio of teachers Jose, Davis and Pearson. From its humble beginnings in a rented space on the upper storey of a house in the village of Moothakunnam, the college has expanded and is now situated near the Amman Kovil temple at Paravoor. Located at the heart of North Paravoor, Lakshmi College offers B.Com., B.Sc.(Mathematics),M.Com.and M.A.(Economics). The students opting for these courses are enrolled with the Mahatma Gandhi University and the Calicut University.

Saint Thomas Jacobite Syrian church, also known as Paravur Cheriyapally, is a Syrian Orthodox church located in North Paravur, India. This church was constructed in AD 1566 in the midst of the seven bazaars of Paravur town by the parishioners of the ancient Kottakkavu Paravur Valiapally with the monetary aid from the local Tharakan households. The church houses the tomb of famous Syrian Orthodox prelate Gregorios Abdul Jaleel and has staged consecrations of various prelates of the Jacobite Syrian Church since then.

Koottukad is a small village in Parur Taluk, Ernakulam district of Kerala state, South India. It is about 25 km from Ernakulam town. It has a large expanses of green plain. Paravur Taluk, IPA: [pɐrɐʋuːr], is a taluk of Ernakulam District in the Indian State of Kerala. North Paravur is the capital of the taluk. Paravur Taluk lies in the north western part of Ernakulam district bordering Thrissur district. The surrounding taluks are Kochi to the west consisting of Vypin Island, Kodungallur to the north, Chalakudy to the north consisting of Mala, Aluva to the east consisting of Angamaly, Nedumbassery and Aluva, Kanayanur to the south consisting of Cochin City. Paravur is a part of Kochi urban agglomeration area. The western parts of taluk are coastal areas with cultivations like prawn and pokkali rice. The eastern parts are fertile lands. Thuruthipuram, also known as Chathedom Thuruthipuram, is a village on the borders of Ernakulam district and Thrissur in Paravur Taluk, Kerala, India. Situated on the Periyar River, the rainy season can prove challenging for residents, with occasional flooding of lower-lying areas. Fishing provides an important source of income for many villagers. The village is inhabited by people of different religions, mainly Hindus and Christians. The church name is St. Francis Assisi church which is a Latin Catholic church and forms part of the Kottapuram Diocese. According to the historical books, Thuruthipuram was the native of the first Roman Catholic group of the Archdiocese of Verapoly. The temple's name is Muruka-Valli-Devasena temple. The place contains schools, a college and a hospital which are controlled by the church. There is a post office (Pin Code: 680667). AAJM Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in this area which was initially run by foreign missionaries. Thuruthipuram is well known for its boat races and Chavittu nadakam. The famous "Thuruthippuram Boat Race" is conducted in the Thuruthipuram river. This boat race is one of the oldest boat races in central Kerala. In 2016, a group of people from this place built a "Iruttukuthi"(also known as "OOdi") boat and named it "Thuruthippuram". This is the first B grade Iruttukuthi boat in kerala with a village's name.

Vadakkekara is a census town, in Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam District, Kerala state in India. It is also a part of Vadakkekara Grama Panchayat. Paravur town is situated 5 km from this village. The main centre in this village is Moothakunnam. Vadakkekara is one of the early formed panchayat in the state. The cultural and historical place in Ernakulam Dristrict, combines the parts of the early Muzaris. Maliankara is famous for being the landing place of St. Thomas.
