Boyds is an unincorporated community in rural Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located approximately 27 miles (43 km) north of Washington, D.C. Its ZIP Code is 20841. According to the United States 2010 Census, the ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) for Boyds covers an area of about 26 square miles (67 km2) and has a population of 10,460. Black Hill Regional Park, Little Seneca Lake, and Seneca Creek State Park are located in Boyds.

Boyds is an active commuter railroad train station in Boyds, Montgomery County, Maryland. Located on Clopper Road west of the junction with Maryland Routes 117 and 121, the station services trains of MARC's Brunswick Line between Union Station in Washington, D.C. and Martinsburg, West Virginia, along with some trains to Frederick, Maryland. Trains for Amtrak's Capitol Limited bypass the station. The next station west is Barnesville and the next one east is Germantown. Boyds station consists of two low-level side platforms and a single three-sided glass shelter, along with a small parking lot. Boyds station includes a 1931-built pedestrian tunnel originally built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.Boyds station began operations with the opening of the Metropolitan Branch Railroad on May 25, 1873. The station was named after James A. Boyd, a wealthy contractor who helped build the new railroad through the area. Ephraim Francis Baldwin, the architect for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, designed a brick combination station at Boyds the railroad built in 1887. This structure lasted until 1928.

Germantown is a passenger rail station on the MARC Brunswick Line between Washington, D.C., and Martinsburg, West Virginia (with a branch to Frederick, Maryland). It is one of the busiest stations on the Brunswick Line along with Silver Spring and Rockville stations. All Brunswick Line trains stop at this station. The Drury-Austin House is a historic home located at Boyds, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a 1+1⁄2-story dwelling comprising two sections: a late-18th-century one-room plan log house (the southern half), which was doubled in size by the addition of a one-room timber-frame section in the early 19th century. The house is exemplary of the type of dwelling that characterized western Montgomery County in the earliest phase of its settlement.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Seneca Valley High School (SVHS) is a U.S. public high school (grades 9-12) in Germantown, Maryland. It is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools system. Its enrollment for the 2020–2021 school year was 1,652 students. The current building was finished in 2021, and has a capacity of 2,423 students.

Northwest High School (NWHS) is a public high school in Germantown, Maryland. It is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools public school system. As of 2019, its enrollment was around 2,650 students. It is one of two high schools in Germantown, the other being Seneca Valley High School, with which Northwest shares an athletic rivalry. The school also serves small sections of the cities of Gaithersburg and Darnestown. The school underwent an expansion project that was completed during the summer of 2006. Northwest's school mascot is the jaguar and its colors are black, silver and white.
