Canterbury Cricket Week is the oldest cricket festival week in England and involves a series of consecutive Kent home matches, traditionally held in the first week in August. It was founded in 1842, although a similar festival week was first held in 1839 by the Beverley Cricket Club, the predecessor of Kent County Cricket Club. Since 1847 it has taken place at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, before that it was held at the Beverley Ground in the same city. In addition to hosting cricket matches, it also includes several other events and ceremonies. As of 2018, there have been 167 Canterbury Cricket Weeks held. The week continued through the Second World War with cricket being held on the ground each season.The politician and journalist Bill Deedes wrote in 2000: "while the Second World War was on, I consoled myself by thinking that Canterbury Cricket Week, founded in 1842 with its tents and famous lime tree, unchanging in a changing world, was the sort of thing I was in business to preserve."

The St Lawrence Ground is a cricket ground in Canterbury, Kent. It is the home ground of Kent County Cricket Club and since 2013 has been known as The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, due to commercial sponsorship. It is one of the oldest grounds on which first-class cricket is played, having been in use since 1847, and is the venue for Canterbury Cricket Week, the oldest cricket festival in the world. It is one of the two grounds used regularly for first-class cricket that have had a tree, the St Lawrence Lime, within the boundary. Capacity at the ground was increased to 15,000 in 2000, and four One Day International matches have been played there, one each in 1999 (part of the 1999 Cricket World Cup), 2000, 2003 and 2005. The ground was the venue for the first day/night County Championship match, played as a trial in September 2011.

The Worthgate School (formerly CATS College Canterbury, Stafford House College) is a coeducational Private day and boarding school located in Canterbury, England, catering primarily for foreign students. It is owned by the CATS Global Schools group. The school specialises in preparing students for pre-university exams such as A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate as well as providing additional English tuition. The Worthgate School has been authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme since April 2007; the programme is taught in English.

The Kent and Canterbury Hospital, colloquially known among residents as the K+C, is a community hospital in Canterbury, Kent, England. It is managed by the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School is a single-sex voluntary controlled grammar school in Canterbury, Kent, England. The school originated in the Middle Ages as an educational foundation for children in Canterbury, emerging as a separate school for girls in 1881. Its brother school is Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys which resides a mere half mile away. The school is selective in its intake, with prospective Year 7 students having to take the Kent Procedure for Entrance to Secondary Education, an eleven-plus examination. Around 180 new students are accepted every year at age 11, and around 60 students every year join the sixth form from other schools. 2010 saw the successful introduction of boys into the sixth form. In the school's Ofsted inspection (July 2014) it was rated 'Good' overall.

The Canterbury School of Architecture (CSA) which was founded in 1952 is a leading architecture school in the United Kingdom and is a department of the University for the Creative Arts in England. It has been listed within the top five architecture schools in the United Kingdom. The CSA teaches degree programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels and in 2013, Will Alsop became Professor of Architecture at CSA and continues to support the school.The school also offers a guest lecture series called Multistory which allows students to engage with industry experts and professionals of the architectural world. The CSA offers an undergraduate course (BA (Hons)) which has exemption to the RIBA and prescription to the ARB Part One exam; a professional postgraduate course (MArch) which offers exemption to the RIBA and prescription to the ARB Part Two exam and also other undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in other specialisms of architecture and interior architecture. The school was previously part of UCA's predecessor colleges, UCCA (the University College for the Creative Arts), and KIAD (the Kent Institute of Art and Design).

Canterbury South was a station on the Elham Valley Railway. It opened in 1889 and closed to passengers in 1940 and freight in 1947.

St. Anselm's Catholic School is a co-educational (11–18) Catholic comprehensive school, founded in 1964 by the Archdiocese of Southwark. It occupies a rural site on the fringes of Canterbury, bordered by orchards and farmland. The school currently has 1,080 students, of whom 150 are in the sixth form. In September 2004 St. Anselm's was designated as a specialist Science College, and in May 2015 the school converted to academy status.

Canterbury College is a part of the EKC Group of colleges and provides Higher Education in Canterbury, Kent, England. It was established in 1947. The college has about 3800 students and 500 staff. It predominantly provides courses to students 16 and above. It also offers education to students between ages 14 and 16 through its Junior College, T Levels, and A Levels courses. Adult learners can also participate in part-time courses and short courses. The College is situated near the centre of Canterbury on New Dover Road.

Barton Court Grammar School (formerly Canterbury Technical School for Girls and Barton Court Grammar School for Girls) is an 11-18 mixed Academy of Excellence in Canterbury, Kent, England. It has Foreign Language College status and offers A-Levels.

Chaucer School (or known simply as Chaucer) was a partially selective, mixed ability comprehensive school in Canterbury, Kent. Former names of Chaucer include Chaucer Technology School, Geoffrey Chaucer and Canterbury Technical High School for Boys In February 2014 Kent County Council announced that the school would shut because of low pupil intake and poor standards. Just weeks before Swale Academies Trust had promised a conversion to academy status and the sale of land to rebuild the school, but these plans were scrapped. Shortly after the proposal for closure was made public a petition on Change.org was created in an attempt to revert Kent County Council's decision, but this failed. The school closed in September 2015.

The Church of St Martin is an ancient Church of England parish church in Canterbury, England, situated slightly beyond the city centre. It is recognised as the oldest church building in Britain still in use as a church, and the oldest existing parish church in the English-speaking world, although Roman and Celtic churches had existed for centuries. The church is, along with Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey, part of a World Heritage Site. Since 1668 the church has been part of the benefice of St Martin and St Paul Canterbury. Both St Martin's and nearby St Paul's churches are used for weekly services. The current rector of the parish is the Reverend Mark Richard Griffin.
