Nea Filadelfeia, Thessaloniki

Nea Filadelfeia railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Νέας Φιλαδέλφειας, romanized: Sidirodromikós stathmós Nea Filadelfeia) is a railway station that servers the community of Nea Filadelfeia, in Thessaloniki regional unit in Central Macedonia, Greece. The station is located just east of the settlement but still within the settlement limits. The station (as of 2021) is unstaffed, with the station buildings abandoned and left to decay.

Gallicum or Gallikon was a town of Crestonia in ancient Macedonia. It was situated 16 Roman miles from Thessalonica on the Roman road to Stobi.Its site is located near modern Kolchis, Kilkis, 4,5 km south of Kilkis.

Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Kallithea, of which it was a municipal district. The 2011 census recorded 533 inhabitants in the village and 1,192 in the community. The community of Mesaio covers an area of 27.896 km2.

Kallithea (Greek: Καλλιθέα) is a suburb and a former municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Oraiokastro, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 6,110 (2011). The municipal unit has an area of 97.494 km2.

Petroto (Greek: Πετρωτό, [petro'to]) is a village of the Oraiokastro municipality. The village was part of the municipality of Kallithea before the 2011 local government reform. Petroto is a part of the community of Mesaio.The 2011 census recorded 289 inhabitants in the village.

Lake Pikrolimni (Greek: Πικρολίμνη 'bitter lake') is an endorheic, alkaline salt lake in Kilkis prefecture, Greece. It is located on the border of the Kilkis and Thessaloniki regional units, about 40 km northwest of Thessaloniki. The lake is hypersaline, has rather shallow waters (0.5–0.7 m) and a shoreline of about 8.5 km. The water surface area shows significant seasonal variation (3.2–4.5 km2) due to evaporation in the summer months, with an average value of 3.7 km2.Pikrolimni is the only salt lake in Greece and constitutes a biotope with rare halophytic vegetation surrounded by common reeds, which is home to various common and endangered bird species. The habitat has been listed since 1996 as a Natura 2000 site of community interest and special protection area, while also protected by the Ramsar convention.The lake was known in ancient times as Chalastra (Ancient Greek: Χαλάστρα), a famous source of natron and trona for Graeco-Roman glassmaking. In modern times it has been a site of pelo- and balneotherapy, with a spa specialising in such treatments using the lake's briny water and characteristic black mud.

Pentalofos (Greek: Πεντάλοφος, Bulgarian: Градобор, is a village and a community of the Oraiokastro municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Kallithea, of which it was a municipal district. The 2011 census recorded 2,022 inhabitants in the village. The community of Pentalofos covers an area of 29.874 km2.

Xirochori (Greek: Ξηροχώρι, before 1926: Γιόρδινον - Giordinon, ) is a community and a village in the municipal unit of Agios Athanasios in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. The community is 25 km north-northwest of downtown Thessaloniki. The community consists of two villages: Xirochori and Baleika. According to the 2011 census, it has a total population of 602, with the village of Xirochori having 567 of those and Baleika 35.

Clitae or Klitai (Ancient Greek: Κλῖται) was a town of ancient Macedonia, the site of the Roman breakthrough of the Macedonian line during the Roman conquest of Macedonia. Some have identified the town as the Chaetae (Χαῖται) – "Κλ" being mistaken for "Χα" – in Ptolemy.In the Delphic Theorodochoi inscription (230 BC), published by André Plassart, there is a mention of a man who was named Phaneas Solonos (Ancient Greek: Φανέας Σόλωνος) from Clitae.Clitae is mentioned by Pliny the Elder as a centre of natron production from the ancient lake Chalastra (Ancient Greek: Χαλάστρα), which is identified as the salt lake now known as Pikrolimni. The chalestraion nitron (Ancient Greek: χαλεστραῖον [νίτρον]) produced in Clitae and used in Graeco-Roman glassmaking is mentioned by Plato in the Republic (430a) and praised for its high quality by Pliny.Combined with the identification of lake Chalastra with Pikrolimni and glassware found in the vicinity, the ruins of Clitae are considered to lie in a site near the modern village Xylokeratia of Kilkis prefecture, Greece.

Monolofo (Greek: Μονόλοφο, [mo'nolofo]) is a village of the Oraiokastro municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Kallithea. The 2011 census recorded 370 inhabitants in the village. Monolofo is a part of the community of Mesaio.

Neochorouda (Greek: Νεοχωρούδα) is a village in the Oraiokastro municipality, Thessaloniki regional unit, northern Greece. It was formerly known as Tria Hania (Greek: Τρία Χάνια, Turkish: Üç Hanlar, both mean "three inns"). The village itself was built on the crossroads of the road between Kilkis and Athens and thus saw a lot of traffic, hence the name. It was situated in the swamps near the lake of Giannitsa. It was abandoned during the Turkish rule of Macedonia, most likely in lieu of a better position, away from the swamps. Today the village is abandoned. The new village was named Neochorouda (Νεοχωρούδα), which literally means “new village”. Neochorouda is situated north-west of Thessaloniki, on the southern slopes of Mount Kardakli (Καρδακλί). It is disputed whether Neochorouda pre-existed Tria Hania, or not, but it is clear today that the inhabitants of Tria Hania do, in fact, to this day reside in Neochorouda.
