K.A.P. Viswanatham Medical College is a medical college started in 1997 and named after famous Tamil scholar K.A.P. Viswanatham. It started with a capacity to accommodate 100 Under graduate students. Since the year 2007, Post graduate courses were also started. Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital is attached to K.A.P.V Medical College. It is situated 2 km away from the college campus. St. John's Vestry Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School is a school located in Tiruchirappalli (also known as Trichy), Tamil Nadu, India. It is missioned by the Church of South India. It is one of the oldest school in Tamil Nadu and was established by the British around 1763. It first served as an orphanage for children of British soldiers, but later established itself as a school and moved to its current location. It has a long history and one of the oldest schools in Tamil Nadu & rich in Anglo-Indian tradition dating back to three centuries.This school was started on 1763 by the British, it was first held inside the vestry room of St. John's church. (A vestry room is the room where a priest changes his clothes to ceremonial robes.) Hence it acquired its name of St. John's vestry school. St.John's church is located near the central bus station. When the school started it covered only a small area of land at the current location, but expanded so that the campus now has separate buildings within the campus for year 1 to year 8 (Junior and Sub Junior block) and year 9 to year 12 (Senior and Super Senior block). The school has montessori facilities in a separate building. St. Johns Vestry Anglo Higher Secondary School also has boarding facilities for students from distant places.

Tiruchchirappalli Junction railway station, also known as Trichy Junction railway station (station code: TPJ) is a junction station in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. It serves as the headquarters for Tiruchirappalli railway division of the Southern Railway zone. The station code is TPJ, used for official purposes. Daily approximately 15,000 passengers are using this Tiruchirappalli Junction. TPJ is the only railway station in southern railway to host diesel–electric multiple unit (DEMU) shed. Tiruchirappalli Junction is the second largest railway station in Tamil Nadu and one of the busiest railway stations in India. The Station was awarded with ‘GOLD’ (72 Points) rating in March 2020 by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for implementing various environment-friendly measures. It is the first and only station in Southern Railway to get "GOLD" certification and 5th across Indian Railways.

The siege of Trichinopoly (March 1743 – August 1743) was part of an extended series of conflicts between the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Maratha Empire for control of the Carnatic region. On 29 August 1743, after a six-month siege, Murari Rao surrendered, giving Nizam ul Mulk (Nizam) the suzerainty of Trichinopoly. By the end of 1743, the Nizam had regained full control of Deccan. This stopped the Maratha interference in the region and ended their hegemony over the Carnatic. The Nizam resolved the internal conflicts among the regional hereditary nobles (Nawabs) for the seat of governor (Subedar) of Arcot State, and monitored the activities of the British East India company and French East India Company by limiting their access to ports and trading.
