Longtan District (Chinese: 龍潭區; pinyin: Lóngtán Qū) is a rural district in southern Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Longtan is home to the headquarters of the Republic of China Army. The township is known for the Buddhist temple in the center of Longtan Lake and the large Bainien community project. The area is surrounded by high-tech industries and mountains. Longtan is home to a number of military bases, and a few research installations. National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and Institute of Nuclear Energy Research are two of the more well known ones.

The Leofoo Village Theme Park (Chinese: 六福村主題遊樂園; pinyin: Liùfú Cūn Zhǔtí Yóulèyuán) is a theme park and a safari located in Guanxi Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. It features three roller coasters, including an inverted shuttle coaster, Screaming Condor, an Intamin twist-and-turn coaster dubbed Sahara Twist, as well as a Vekoma Roller Skater (335m) in the Wild West section of the park, Little Rattler, themed to an old mining railway. There is also the Nairobi Express, a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway built by Severn Lamb. The park features many other attractions of different styles and proper themed areas.

The Yehshan Building (traditional Chinese: 葉山樓; simplified Chinese: 叶山楼; pinyin: Yèshān Lóu) or Weird Building (traditional Chinese: 怪怪樓; simplified Chinese: 怪怪楼; pinyin: Guàiguài Lóu) is a building in Longtan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan.

Guanxi Township or Guansi Township (Chinese: 關西鎮; pinyin: Guānxi Zhèn) is an urban township in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. The population of the township consists mainly of the Hakkas with a minority of the indigenous Atayal people.

Shihmen Dam (Chinese: 石門水庫; lit. 'Stone Gate Dam'; also spelled Shimen or Shihman) is a major rock fill dam across the Dahan River in northern Taoyuan City. It forms the Shihmen Reservoir (石門水庫), Taiwan's third largest reservoir or artificial lake. It provides irrigation in Taoyuan, flood control for the Taipei Basin, and hydroelectricity and domestic water supply for more than three million people in northern Taiwan. Completed in 1964 after nine years of construction, Shihmen was Taiwan's first multi-purpose water project and a major step towards the island's economic independence after World War II. Year-round water releases from the dam enabled additional rice harvests and doubled Taoyuan's annual agricultural output, while the reservoir became a tourist destination due to its scenery and plentiful fisheries. However, the project was criticized for its high cost and its impact on local communities, as more than 2,000 people were displaced to make way for the reservoir. Like some other reservoirs in Taiwan, Shihmen has suffered from sedimentation, reducing its capacity by over a third. Efforts to reduce the rate of sediment accumulation, including dredging, check dam construction and watershed restoration work, have had a limited effect. This has diminished both the Shihmen Dam's capability to contain floods and provide water during droughts.

The National Atomic Research Institute (NARI) is an administrative corporation reorganized from the Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER) and supervised by the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) of Taiwan (ROC). INER, the predecessor of NARI, was one of the agencies included in the government reform in 2023. It has been transformed from a government agency into an administrative corporation since September 27. It is dedicated to the research and development of technologies on nuclear safety, radiation application, and new energy. Targeting nuclear safety, nuclear back-end, nuclear medicine and other radiation applications for people's livelihood, new energy and cross-field system integration as the main development axes of its mission, NARI endeavors to help realizing a low-carbon society so as to improve people's livelihood and well-being.
