The Ottawa Hospital's General Campus is one of three main campuses of The Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. With 569 beds, the General Campus includes The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and the Cancer Centre. The Ottawa General Hospital opened in 1845 at the current site of the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital in the ByWard Market area of Ottawa. In 1980, the General moved to its current location at 501 Smyth Road.

Alta Vista Ward (Ward 18) is a city ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada represented on Ottawa City Council. Alta Vista Ward was created prior to the 1966 election when Gloucester Ward was split in half due to population growth in the Alta Vista area. Until the 1972 elections, the ward was represented by two councillors (then called aldermen). Prior to the 1980 election, the Ward was split in half, with the western half remaining as Alta Vista ward and the eastern half became Canterbury Ward. They were reunited prior to the 1994 Election and was known as Ward 10, and given the name Alta Vista-Canterbury Ward in 1995. During this time, on regional council it was known as just Alta Vista Ward. It was renamed to Alta Vista in 2000. The ward is located in Ottawa's southeast end, and covers the neighbourhoods of Eastway Gardens, Riverview, Alta Vista, Heron Gate and Sheffield Glen. The Ward is often advertised by candidates as "Alta Vista-Canterbury-Riverview", as there was a plan to name it that in 1997. The ward covers an area of 20.3 km2. There is only a small boundary change for the 2006 election: the boundary will follow Highway 417 instead of the old city limits from Walkley north to the CPR right-of-way. Until 2014, the ward was represented by Peter Hume. He defeated incumbent Allan Higdon in the 2000 election. It was a battle of incumbents, as Hume was a regional councillor until the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton was abolished. Jean Cloutier replaced Hume in 2014. Key issues affecting the Alta Vista ward since 2000 have been: the proposed Alta Vista transportation corridor Archived 2006-10-03 at the Wayback Machine, the fate of the Canada Science and Technology Museum, as well as the O-Train expansion.

CHEO is a pediatric health-care and research centre located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. CHEO is also a tertiary trauma centre for children in Eastern Ontario, Nunavut, Northern Ontario and the Outaouais region of Quebec and one of only seven Level I trauma centres for children in Canada (others being The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, the Montreal Children's Hospital in Montreal, the Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine in Montreal, IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, and BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver). It is affiliated with The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa, and is funded by the provincial Government of Ontario. CHEO first opened its doors on May 17, 1974, and is located at 401 Smyth Road, Ottawa, Ontario. CHEO includes a hospital, children's treatment centre, school and research institute, with satellite services located throughout Eastern Ontario. CHEO provides complex pediatric care, research and education. CHEO is a founding member of Kids Health Alliance, a network of partners. In addition to its clinical mandate, CHEO is an academic health science centre. Each year, it provides education to 2,300 future pediatricians, nurses, and other health professionals.

École secondaire catholique Franco-Cité is a French Catholic school located in the Alta Vista neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario. It operates under the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) school board and is renowned for its numerous sports programs including its flagship "Sport-Études" program.

Hillcrest High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in the Elmvale Acres neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school was opened in 1961. Its sports teams are nicknamed "The Hawks". Its exclusive catchment area covers the neighbourhoods of Riverview, Faircrest Heights, Playfair Park, Elmvale Acres, Urbandale, Hawthorne Meadows, Sheffield Glen, Hunt Club Park and part of Greenboro.Hillcrest High School is an ethnically diverse school. The surrounding area includes significant Black, Arab, Indian, and Somali communities, among others. Hillcrest also offers a full-immersion French program.

Riverview (also known as Riverview Park) is a neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is southeast of the downtown adjacent to the Rideau River, its location on which is its namesake. The 2021 Census population of Riverview is 13,113.

The National Defence Medical Centre (NDMC) was the national and largest hospital of the Canadian Forces in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It served the needs of the members of the military. Constructed in 1961, it was closed in the 1990s due to budget cutbacks in National Defence and Veterans' Affairs Canada. The building now houses Canadian Forces Health Services Group Headquarters, the CF Health Services Centre Ottawa, the 33 Canadian Brigade Group headquarters, and other military units. All in-patient and surgical services for the Canadian Forces in the Ottawa region are done at the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital where they have a 4-bed unit, and their own Operating Theater.It was announced in 2003 that they will be moving to 2 floors of the new Montfort Hospital.

Alta Vista is a neighbourhood in Alta Vista Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its boundaries according to the Alta Vista Community Association are that part of Alta Vista Ward south of Smyth Road in the north, north of Walkley Road and east of the Rideau River (and Bank Street), and west of the "greenspace underneath Haig Drive". However, the name is ambiguous, as there are several sub-neighbourhoods in this area, (see list below), as the neighbourhood could refer to the ward as a whole, down to the core Alta Vista area, (which could be defined as south of Pleasant Park Road, north of Heron Road, and west of the eastern greenspace corridor), centred on Alta Vista Drive. Alta Vista Drive is a major street running through the neighbourhood, and shares its name. Both are named for their relative height, as the neighbourhood is generally higher than most of the city. Alta Vista is a highly residential neighbourhood with a strong community, several schools, religious buildings of many faiths, and community centres. It also has a vast amount of greenspace and parks, much of which is part of the Alta Vista Transportation Corridor Environmental Assessment Ottawa East Community Association. The OC Transpo Transitway also runs through Alta Vista, with two stations in the neighbourhood itself (Pleasant Park and Riverside) as well as two just outside (Billings Bridge and Smyth), serving as a vital transit link to the rest of the city. The General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, and The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario are located just on the north side of Smyth Road, in Riverview, while the Riverside Campus of the Ottawa Hospital is located at Smyth and Riverside Drive. There are two shopping malls in and around Alta Vista: the Billings Bridge Plaza Shopping Centre at Bank Street and Riverside and the Elmvale Shopping Centre at St. Laurent and Smyth. Alta Vista had a population of about 24,726 as of the Canada 2021 Census (Community Association borders).

Elmvale Acres is a neighbourhood in south Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, located in Alta Vista Ward. It was built in the late 1950s by the contractor and property developer, Robert Campeau, with construction beginning in 1955. It is bounded on the north by Smyth Road, on the east by Othello Avenue, on the south by Pleasant Park Road and on the west by the Hydro Corridor. According to the 2016 Census, the population for this area was 2,627.The neighbourhood is represented by the Elmvale Acres Community Association, which was known as the Elmvale Acres Property Owners Association prior to 1959, and was known as the Elmvale-Urbandale Community Association when it covered neighbouring Urbandale in the 1960s and 1970s. East of the neighbourhood is the Elmvale Acres Shopping Centre on St. Laurent, which functions as an east end OC Transpo transit terminus. This shopping centre was the scene of a family-related shooting in September 2006.

Machzikei Hadas (literally translated from Hebrew as 'Supporters of the law') is a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Congregation Machzikei Hadas, is open to all, regardless of level of observance. Machzikei Hadas is broadening its programing for young families in an attempt to boost membership.

Belfast Yard is the maintenance, storage and administrative facility for LRT fleet for the Confederation Line of Ottawa's O-Train light rail system. The yard was opened in 2016 and assembled 34 Alstom Citadis Spirit LRT vehicles. The facility was expanded to accommodate 38 additional LRT vehicles as part of the Stage 2 Confederation Line expansion.

Ottawa station (French: Gare d'Ottawa, IATA: XDS), or Ottawa Train Station, is the main inter-city train station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the capital of Canada. It is operated by Via Rail. It is located 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of downtown Ottawa and adjacent to Tremblay O-Train station in the neighbourhood of Eastway Gardens. The station serves inter-city trains connecting to Toronto, Kingston, Montreal and Quebec City on Via Rail's Corridor Route.
