The Apollo Affair was a 1965 incident in which a US company, NUMEC, in the Pittsburgh suburbs of Apollo and Parks Township, Pennsylvania was investigated for losing 200–600 pounds (91–272 kg) of highly enriched uranium, with suspicions that it had gone to Israel's nuclear weapons program.

The cabin was restored in 1971 and opened to the public by its owner, the Apollo Area Historical Society.The Drake Log Cabin was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Early in the 20th century, it had the largest sheet steel mill in the world. On June 28, 1915, the Borough of Vandergrift Heights was consolidated with Vandergrift.
