Housatonic State Forest

The Cream Hill Shelter is a rustic log shelter in Housatonic State Forest in Cornwall, Connecticut. Built in 1988, it replaced what was at the time one of three surviving log shelters constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in Connecticut. The historic shelter it replaced, built in 1935, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Cream Hill Agricultural School is believed to be the first school in the United States devoted to education in agricultural practices. Founded in 1845 on a farmstead on Cream Hill Road in northern Cornwall, Connecticut, it operated until 1869. The property, still in agricultural use, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Dean's Ravine Falls is a 50-foot-tall (15 m) waterfall formed along Reed Brook in Canaan, Connecticut. The falls were once a "must-see" spot along the 2,180-mile-long Appalachian Trail, until the trail was rerouted west of the Housatonic River through Sharon, Connecticut in the early 1980s. Today, it can be accessed via The Mohawk Trail from a parking area located at the intersection of Music Mountain Road and Cream Hill Road.

The Maj. Gen. John Sedgwick House is a historic house at 52 Hautboy Hill Road in Cornwall, Connecticut. Built in 1859–60, it is a prominent local example of Italianate architecture, and was built by Union Army General John Sedgwick, one of Connecticut's leading figures in the American Civil War. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center is a project of Hazon that sits on 400 acres of forest and meadows in the foothills of the southern Berkshires in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Isabella Freedman hosts organizational retreats, Jewish spiritual and environmental events, and private Jewish celebrations including weddings and B'nai Mitzvah. More than 30 Jewish organizations hold events at Isabella Freedman and Isabella Freedman hosts families across Jewish denominations for their popular Jewish holiday vacation programs, such as their yearly Passover, Shavuot, and "Sukkahfest" (Sukkot) retreats. The Center's kitchen is kosher under the supervision of the Hartford Kashrut Commission.

Canaan is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 1,080 at the 2020 census, down from 1,234 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Northwest Hills Planning Region. The town of Canaan is often referred to locally by the name of its principal settlement, Falls Village.

The South Canaan Congregational Church is a historic Congregational church building at Connecticut Route 63 and Barnes Road in the town of Canaan, Connecticut. Built in 1804, it is a remarkably, well-preserved example of early Federal period church architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Holabird House is a historic house on Kellog Road in Canaan, Connecticut. Built about 1740, it is one of the town's oldest surviving buildings, and a well-preserved example of Georgian architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Housatonic Valley Regional High School (HVRHS) is a public high school in Falls Village, Connecticut, United States. It was established in 1939 as a result of a special act of the Connecticut General Assembly in 1937. It is the first regional high school in New England.

Falls Village is a village and census-designated place in the town of Canaan in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 538, out of 1,234 in the entire town of Canaan. Because Falls Village is the town center and principal constituent village in Canaan, the entire town is often referred to as "Falls Village". That usage also avoids confusion of the town with Canaan Village in the town of North Canaan, Connecticut, just to the north. Falls Village derives its name from a waterfall, known as Great Falls, on the Housatonic River within the village.The Falls Village post office is assigned ZIP code 06031, which encompasses the entire town of Canaan.

West Cornwall is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Cornwall, Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is on the west side of the town, on the east side of the Housatonic River, which forms the border with the town of Sharon. Connecticut Route 128 runs through the village, joining U.S. Route 7 across the Housatonic in Sharon. West Cornwall was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

The West Cornwall Covered Bridge (an earlier incarnation was known as the Hart Bridge) is a wooden covered lattice truss bridge carrying the Sharon-Goshen Turnpike over the Housatonic River in the town of Cornwall, Connecticut. Records indicate that a bridge may have been in place in this location as early as 1762. A previous bridge was destroyed in the flood of 1837 and a new bridge was constructed in 1841. This bridge would also be destroyed and the current bridge would be completed circa 1864. Utilizing the central pier from the previous incarnation, despite the Town lattice being able to withstand the weight and single span, the bridge has two spans. The later addition of queen trusses and supports gives the bridge an unusual appearance. Modernization of the bridge in 1968 and 1973 has continued to let the bridge handle traffic. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
