The Hainigturm is a tower and tourist attraction in the Vogelsbergkeis, (Hesse, Germany). It is located between Lauterbach and Angersbach. The tower, which now consists of stones, used to be made completely out of wood. However the wood got rotten so the tower had to be rebuilt in 1907. In 2007 the Lauterbach celebrated the 100th anniversary of the tower.

Lauterbach (Hess) Nord station is a through station on the Vogelsberg Railway (Vogelsbergbahn) from Gießen to Fulda in the German state of Hesse. Until the closure of the Oberwald Railway (Oberwaldbahn) to Glauburg-Stockheim it was a rail junction.

The Schlitzer Korn & Edelobstbrennerei GmbH is a liquor manufacturer in Schlitz, a small town in the Vogelsbergkreis in eastern Hesse, Germany. The distillery was founded in 1585, and is thus regarded as the oldest still-producing distillery in Germany. The production site was an outbuilding of the Schlitzer brewery until the 20th century, when it was finally moved into its present location. The former count's estate passed in 1969 in connection with the Karlshof as Staatsdomäne into the possession of the German state of Hesse. In 2006 the distillery was sold and converted into a limited company (GmbH). Today's owners are the towns Schlitz (90%) and Hünfeld (10%). Total assets for the year 2011 amounted to 1,223,422 euros, while profits were reported as 70360.04 euros.Overall, the distillery produces 35 different spirits in addition to Schlitzer Burgen-Kümmel: liqueurs, fruit liqueurs, cordials, fine fruit brandies and whiskeys which are produced and internationally distributed under the brands of Feinbitter, Schwarzwilderer, Bruder Bernhard, Rhönwurz and bitters Boonekamp. For this herbs and fruits such as blackthorn, blueberry, lemon, cassis, Woodruff, raspberry, cherry and orange are used. Its products have been awarded honors by the DLG several times. Since 2008, organic spirits are also produced and since 2012, the company offers Burgen Vodka.

The Schlitz Christmas Candle is a candle-like structure unveiled every Christmas season in Schlitz, a small town in Hesse, Germany. It is approximately 42-metre (138 ft) tall, and is thought to be the largest non-wax candle in the world. The candle is created by draping a red cloth over the stone tower at the center of the town. The tower is then topped off with an electric flame to give the impression of a Christmas candle, which can be seen from great distances looming above the town's Tudor-style buildings. The tower used to form the candle is called the Hinterturm, which was built in the 14th century, and is the remnant of a castle that no longer stands. An elevator inside the Hinterturm takes visitors to the top of the tower.The candle has been a yearly tradition in Schlitz since the Christmas Candle was first established on November 28, 1991. The candle serves as the town's Christmas market, which includes vendors, activities, entertainment and guest appearances by Santa Claus Mayor Hans-Jürgen Schäfer said of the candle, "People come from all over Germany just to take a look at the Christmas candle. Of course, this brings Schlitz to the attention of people all over the world." Every year in January, the town receives newspaper clippings from all over the world with stories about the Schlitz Christmas Candle.Before the Schlitz Christmas Candle, the largest non-wax candle in the world was believed to be the Peace Candle, a tower-like structure assembled every holiday season in Easton, a Pennsylvania city in the United States.
