Greenbank, Delaware

Greenbank Historic Area is a historic grist mill located at Marshallton, New Castle County, Delaware. The property includes the Greenbank Mill, Robert Philips House, and the W. G. Philips House. The mill was built in 1790 and expanded in 1812. It is a 2+1⁄2 story, frame structure with a stone wing. The mill measures 50 feet (15 m) by 39 feet (12 m). The Robert Philips House was built in 1783, and is a 2+1⁄2 story, five bay, stone dwelling with a gable roof. The front facade features a long verandah. The W. G. Philips House, also known as the mill owner's house, dates to the mid-19th century. It consists of a two-story, three bay front section with a three-story, hipped roof rear section. Oliver Evans, a native of nearby Newport, installed his automatic mill machinery in the 1790 building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and expanded in 1979 to include the W. G. Philips House.The site is now operated as Greenbank Mill, a living history museum that includes the restored mill, an early 19th-century farm barn housing heritage sheep, the miller's house (Philips House), the textile factory and an herb garden.

Hersey-Duncan House is a historic home located near Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1800, and is a two-story, five-bay, center passage plan dwelling with a gable roof and two-story, stone, rear kitchen wing. It is in a vernacular Federal style. A stuccoed frame, one-story, gable-roof kitchen was added to the north endwall of the main block about 1950 and a two-story frame wing was added to the south side of the rear kitchen wing in the 1930s. Also on the property is a contributing 19th century, stone smokehouse. The house was built by a prominent Red Clay Creek miller in the early 19th century.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Justis–Jones House, also known as the Henry S. McComb House, is a historic home located near Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. The original section was built about 1840, and is a two-story, two-bay, nearly square gable-roofed fieldstone dwelling in a vernacular Greek Revival style. A frame rear wing constructed in two phases between 1904 and 1924. Also on the property is a contributing frame garage dating to about 1920.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Brandywine Springs is a historic area near Newport, Delaware, along the Red Clay Creek. It is noted from early American history as a Revolutionary War encampment of General George Washington's army. In 1853, Captain Alden Partridge opened the National Scientific and Military Academy at Brandywine Springs. The school building was destroyed by fire shortly after opening and the school closed.In the 1880s, it became known for its mineral springs and luxurious hotel resort In the early twentieth century, it became renowned for an amusement park built along the Hyde Run tributary. The amusement park closed down following the 1923 season. The Friends of Brandywine Springs are dedicated to recovering the history of the amusement park. Early films of the park from circa 1903 are some of the earliest motion picture images of Delaware.In 1956 state senator Fredrick Klair procured the land for the state and established Brandywine Springs State Park. In 1970, Brandywine Springs was converted from a state park to a county park operated by New Castle County as the legislature felt it better met local needs as opposed to state needs, and there had been no county-level parks department at the time it was created as a state park.

Faulkland is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States, approximately two miles west of Wilmington. Faulkland has only one main road, Faulkland Road. No post office has ever existed in the very small community. The Wilmington and Western Railroad runs parallel through the area with a level crossing at Faulkland Road.

William Julius "Judy" Johnson House is a historic home located at Marshallton, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1925, and is a two-story, three bay, rectangular frame dwelling with a one-story front porch. It has a hipped and gable roof with dormer and is reflective of the American Craftsman style. Wavy asbestos siding was added to the home in 1939. Also on the property is a contributing two car garage. It was the home of Hall of Fame baseball player Judy Johnson (ca. 1900–1989), who played in the Negro leagues between 1921 and 1937. Johnson purchased the home in 1934, and resided in it until shortly before his death.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Fell Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses eight contributing buildings in a steeply sloped area along Red Clay Creek. The area developed in the 19th century as a wealthy gentleman's country manufacturing/farming estate. It includes the stuccoed fieldstone, Greek Revival style Fell Mansion (c. 1835); a Romanesque Revival stone carriage house (1893); a Carpenter Gothic frame gatehouse (c. 1860); two frame tenant houses (c. 1860), one of which was built in a "Swiss Chalet" style; a stone barn and a stuccoed stone miller's residence (c. 1800); and a stone Georgian Revival dwelling dating from 1925.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Hickman Blacksmith Shop and House, also known as the Chas. C. Connell Roofing, Gutter, and Siding Co. and Jeffrey and Pamella Seemans House, is a historic home and blacksmith shop located at Marshallton, New Castle County, Delaware. The shop was built about 1899, and is a rectangular, frame, 1+1⁄2-story building on a high stone foundation. The house was built about 1860, and is a side-passage plan, frame, 2-story dwelling on a stone foundation, with Stick trim and modest interior finish.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Marshallton United Methodist Church is a historic United Methodist church located at 1105 Stanton Road in Marshallton, New Castle County, Delaware. The original portion was built in 1886 as a one-room, 30-foot by 50-foot center-aisle plan frame structure with a gable roof. It sits on a foundation of "Brandywine Granite", a commonly found local building stone. In 1922, a 30-foot by 45-foot gabled frame addition was added on the east side of the original building. At the same time, Gothic arched commemorative stained glass windows and a bell tower were added. A three-story brick educational building and fellowship hall were added between 1949 and 1957.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Springer-Cranston House is a historic home located at Marshallton, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in the late-18th century, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, four bay, coursed rubble stone dwelling with a two-story stuccoed stone service wing. It has a Georgian interior floor plan and gable roof. The house is constructed of local Brandywine granite. It was originally a one-story, stone dwelling roughly 24 feet by 18 feet, and subsequently enlarged and modified during the first half of the 19th century. The interior was modernized in the 1940s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
