Strahovlje (pronounced [stɾaˈxoːu̯ljɛ]) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The settlement is part of the traditional region of the Upper Carniola and is included in the Central Sava Statistical Region.

Medija Castle (Slovene: Medijski grad, Grad Medija, German: Schloss Gallenegg) is a castle ruin located in the southern part of the settlement of Podlipovica, west of Izlake, in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, central-eastern Slovenia. The castle and its stables were destroyed by the Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. The castle chapel was later restored and now serves as a venue for plays, concerts, and other cultural events, as well as weddings. The castle is best known as the supposed resting place of the polymath Johann Weikhard von Valvasor (Slovene: Janez Vajkard Valvasor), whose parents owned the estate, and who also spent his childhood at the castle.

The Medija Thermal Spa (Slovene: Medijske toplice) is a spa located in the town of Izlake in central Slovenia. It was established in 1877 by the local businessman Alojz Prašnikar, although thermal baths at the location were already mentioned by Johann Weikhard von Valvasor in his The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola in the 17th century. In the second half of the 20th century, the complex has gradually been expanded: today's spa consists of a hotel, an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool complex. Since 2009, both the hotel and the outdoor swimming pool complex are closed and have been subject to rapid deterioration, caused by a lack of maintenance and vandalism, as well as weather-caused damage, mainly flooding in 2010. In 2013, a civil initiative started a clean-up and restoration of the outdoor pool complex with the purpose of opening it for the local community. A series of clean-ups was organized mainly on Saturdays as well as a photographic exhibition, showing the history of the spa.

The Central Sava Statistical Region (Slovene: zasavska statistična regija) is a statistical region in Slovenia. This statistical region in the Sava Hills is the smallest region in the country in terms of both area and population. In early-2010 almost 41,700 people lived on 264 km², meaning that together with the Central Slovenia Statistical Region it is the most densely populated statistical region. The natural and geographic features of this region create conditions for industrial activities and more than a third of gross value added is still generated by manufacturing, mining, and other industry. In 2013, the region once again recorded the highest negative annual population growth rate (−11.9‰), which was mainly a result of migration to other statistical regions. Among all statistical regions in 2013, this region had the highest negative net migration between regions; namely, −9.5. This region also stands out by age of mothers at childbirth. In 2013 first-time mothers in the region were on average 28.5 years old, whereas first-time mothers in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region were on average 1 year older. In the same year, the number of unemployed persons increased further. The registered unemployment rate was among the highest in the country (16.6%). In comparison with other regions, this is 7 percentage points more than in the region with the lowest registered unemployment rate, Upper Carniola, and almost 1 percentage point less than in the region with the highest unemployment rate, the Mura Statistical Region. According to the labour migration index, this is the most residential statistical region. In 2013, 60% of people in the region worked in their region of residence, and 40% worked in another region.

Zabreznik (pronounced [zaˈbɾeːznik]) is a settlement northeast of Izlake in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.The local church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and belongs to the Parish of Izlake. It is a medieval building that was restyled in the Baroque in the second half of the 18th century.

Kisovec (pronounced [ˈkiːsɔʋəts]) is a settlement in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The settlement developed around the local coal mine, closed in 1952. Since 1978 a factory producing aerated autoclaved concrete has been in operation in the settlement and provided employment for local people. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.

Zgornji Prhovec (pronounced [ˈzɡoːɾnji pəɾˈxɔːʋəts] or [ˈzɡoːɾnji pəɾˈxoːʋəts]; in older sources also Perhovic; German: Perhouz) is a settlement north of Izlake in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.
