Greens Farms Academy

Green's Farms station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, located in Westport, Connecticut.

Green's Farms is the oldest neighborhood in the town of Westport in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It was listed as a census-designated place prior to the 2020 census.

Sherwood Island State Park is a public recreation area on the shore of Long Island Sound in the Greens Farms section of Westport, Connecticut. The state park offers swimming, fishing, and other activities on 238 acres (96 ha) of beach, wetlands, and woodlands. Sherwood Island is numbered as Connecticut's first state park because state purchase of land at the site began in 1914. The park is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Greens Farms School is a historic school building at Morningside Drive South and Boston Post Road in the Greens Farms neighborhood of Westport, Connecticut. It was built in 1925 and received an addition in 1950. It was designed by architect Charles Cutler in a Tudor Revival style, and is a fine example of such style. It is the only Tudor Revival school building in Westport. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.Its interior includes a Works Project Administration art project from c. 1935.It is located on the Boston Post Road. Due to declining enrollment the school closed in June 1983, after which it was leased by the Westport Arts Center.In 1996 with increasing enrollment school officials in Westport began looking at options including reopening the Greens Farms School and brought in a consultant in the process. The Westport Arts Center representatives recommended that they stay in the building as the educational needs of Westport's student could be better realized in a new building. Westport school officials responded that a new building would cost the town $4.5 million more than using the building. In the end the decision was made that reclaiming the building was the "cheaper" course of action. The Westport Arts Center left the building and moved to a location next to the Saugatuck River.In 1997, faced with rising pupil enrollments, the town reclaimed the school for use as an elementary school again. The school had to be renovated and expanded, which cost the town $16 million.The school is now known as Greens Farms Elementary School.

Bradley B. Meeker (March 13, 1813 – February 19, 1873) was an American jurist, lawyer, and businessman. Meeker was born March 13, 1813, in Fairfield, Connecticut to Joseph and Rhoda Meeker (née Nichols). His family was very poor, despite being descendants of one of their city's founder. Meeker was related to Truman Smith, Senator who inspired him to pursue law and serve in the Minnesota Territorial Supreme Court. With the help of Governor Gideon Tomlinson, Meeker went to Weston Academy and graduated from Yale University in 1802. Meeker practiced law in Richmond, Kentucky from 1838 to 1845 and in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.Meeker came to Minnesota Territory in 1848. After making a name for himself in the world of law, Meeker was nominated to serve on the Minnesota Territorial Supreme Court by President Zachary Taylor on March 15, 1849, with the Senate confirming him March 19. He took the oath of office on May 9, 1849. When his four-year term expired on March 18, 1853, Meeker was replaced by President Franklin Pierce when he picked his own justices. Of the three justices on the court at the time (Chief Justice Goodrich, Justice Cooper, and himself), he was the least controversial. Once he left the Minnesota Territorial Supreme Court, Meeker was elected as a delegate of the Minnesota Constitutional Convention, served as one of the first regents of the University of Minnesota, and was a charter member of the Minnesota Historical Society. Meeker was a charter member of the Minnesota Historical Society and also served on the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. He owned land on the Mississippi River, including Meeker Island named after him. In 1856, he had a county named in his honour.Meeker died suddenly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin of Apoplexy while on a trip on February 19, 1873. He was never married to anybody. He currently rests at the Greens Farms Church Upper Cemetery in Westport, Connecticut.

The John Osborne House is a historic house at 909 King's Highway West in Fairfield, Connecticut. It was built in 1734, according to the tax records. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The house is architecturally significant as an early colonial era house whose intact framing is somewhat unusual in its non-conformance to supposed patterns. Exact age of the house is unclear. There are suggestions the house may have been built as early as 1673.It is located adjacent to what was the Pequot Swamp, site of the last battle of the Pequot War of 1637. The house may be located on an 80-acre grant of land to Richard Osborne, father of John Osborne, for his services in that war.: 8 

The Mill Cove Historic District is a 9-acre (3.6 ha) historic district in Westport, Connecticut, United States. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It consists of a small group of cottages, 15 of which are contributing buildings, and other cottages and outbuildings. These well-preserved collection of Colonial Revival and Bungalow-style cottages were built between 1908 and 1940 on a barrier beach facing Long Island Sound, and are only accessible on foot. They are generally small in size and set on open lots, although some, like the house at 54 Compo Mill Cove, have a high hedge for privacy.

The Pequot Library is an association and special collections library in Southport, Connecticut. It was founded in 1887, and opened in 1894. The library is known for its robust special collections, including William Shakespeare's First Folio, John James Audubon's Birds of America, and William Morris' work with the Kelmscott Press, as well as the first cookbook ever printed, De honesta voluptae et valetudine. The Library also has a vast circulating collection of over 116,000 books, archives, and other texts.The building, constructed in 1894 by Robert Henderson Roberston in the Romanesque Revival style, is a Contributing Property to the Southport Historic District, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It contains numerous architectural marvels, including a glass floored stacks wing, Tiffany glass windows, among other features.The library takes its name from a vanquished Pequot group of 80 to 100 who had earlier fled their home territory in the Mystic area and taken refuge with approximately 200 Sasqua people who inhabited the area that is now Fairfield.

The Fairfield Swamp Fight (also known as the Great Swamp Fight) was the last engagement of the Pequot War and marked defeat of the Pequot tribe in the war and the loss of their recognition as a political entity in the 17th century. The participants in the conflict were the Pequot and the English with their allied tribes (the Mohegan and Narragansett). The Fairfield Swamp Fight occurred July 13–14, 1637 in what is present-day Fairfield, Connecticut. The town of Fairfield was founded after the battle in 1639.

The Southport Historic District in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut is a 225-acre (91 ha) area historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It preserves a portion of the modern neighborhood and former borough of Southport, Connecticut. Since the British burnt almost all of Southport's structures in 1779, there is only one home built prior to that date, the Meeker House at 824 Harbor Road, which survives.

Southport is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut. It is located along Long Island Sound between Mill River and Sasco Brook, where it borders Westport. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 1,585. Settled in 1639, Southport center has been designated a local historic district since 1967, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 as the Southport Historic District.

Southport station is a commuter rail station on the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line, located in Southport, Connecticut. It is one of three railroad stations in the town of Fairfield, the others being Fairfield and Fairfield Metro. The station has two offset high-level side platforms, each four cars long, serving the outer tracks of the four-track Northeast Corridor.: 21  It has 179 parking spaces, of which 99 are owned by the state.
