Certosa di Pavia

Certosa di Pavia (Pavese dialect: Certusa dè Pavia or la Certùsa) is a town and comune (municipality) in the province of Pavia, Lombardy, Italy. It is named after the Certosa di Pavia, a large monastery around which the town grew up. As of 2013 its population was of 5,114.

Torre del Mangano is a frazione and the seat of the municipality of the Certosa di Pavia comune. The comune bore the name of Torre del Mangano until 1929, when the villages of Borgarello, Torriano and Torre del Mangano merged. They assumed the name of Certosa di Pavia because of the great notoriety of the charterhouse located in the nearby. The church of the local parish is dedicated to Saint Michael. Torre del Mangano is situated on the corner of what was once the Visconti Park. The remains of one of its gate are visible near the Saint Michael church.

Giussago is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 20 km south of Milan and about 11 km north of Pavia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,053 and an area of 24.8 km².Giussago borders the following municipalities: Borgarello, Bornasco, Casarile, Certosa di Pavia, Lacchiarella, Rognano, San Genesio ed Uniti, Vellezzo Bellini, Zeccone. Giussago, known in the 15th century as 'Iussagum' was formed by aggregating the many small municipalities of the area. This union took place between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Even today in the town of Giussago there are less than one third of the total population of the municipality. Borgarello is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 25 km south of Milan and about 6 km north of Pavia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,188 and an area of 4.8 km².Borgarello borders the following municipalities: Certosa di Pavia, Giussago, Pavia, San Genesio ed Uniti.

Mirabello is a suburb of Pavia, Lombardy, northern Italy. It lies north of the city, bordering San Genesio ed Uniti.

The Mirabello Castle lies in what was once the Parco Visconteo, near Mirabello di Pavia. Between the 14th and 16th centuries, it was the seat of the Captain of the Park, the authority administering the Parco Visconteo on behalf of the Visconti and Sforza families. Only a wing of the original castle has survived.

Visconti Park (Parco Visconteo in Italian) was the private park of the Visconti and Sforza families, lords, and dukes of Milan. Located in Lombardy, northern Italy, it extended between the Pavia Castle and the Pavia Charterhouse. It covered an area of about 2,200 hectares (22 km2) and was encircled by walls about 25 kilometres (16 mi) in length. It was founded in 1360 by Galeazzo II Visconti and enlarged by his son Gian Galeazzo. Its decay began in 1525 with the damages inflicted during the Battle of Pavia. Today, the park's area mainly serves agriculture purposes, while some portions are nature reserves.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,565 and an area of 7.9 km2.Vellezzo Bellini borders the following municipalities: Battuda, Certosa di Pavia, Giussago, Marcignago, Rognano.

The Vernavola Park is a nature reserve located in the municipality of Pavia, of which it is the largest green area. The park, about 35 hectares (86 acres) wide, takes its name from the Vernavola stream, a small watercourse about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) long and a tributary of the Ticino, which crosses the park with numerous meanders.
