La Loma Bridge

The Richard and Mary Alice Frank House is a historic house located at 919 La Loma Road in Pasadena, California. Built in 1957, the house was designed by Buff, Straub, and Hensman. The stucco and wood home has a Modernist design influenced by American Craftsman and Japanese architecture. The home's design features gently sloped roofs with tongue-and-groove overhangs, an exterior with wide glass panels interspersed with thin wood and stucco sections, and exposed wooden framing.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 10, 2009.

The Batchelder House is a historic home built in 1910 and located at 626 South Arroyo Boulevard in Pasadena, California. An important center of Pasadena cultural life in its day, the home was designed and built by Ernest A. Batchelder, a prominent leader of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and his wife, Alice Coleman, an accomplished musician. The house, a large bungalow, has a "woodsy" design with elements of a Swiss chalet style. Batchelder's first craft shop was located in the structure, where decorative tiles were made for Greene and Greene, the Heineman Brothers, and other noted local architects of the era. Coleman also used the house's backyard stage to host chamber music concerts.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 14, 1978. It is part of the Lower Arroyo Seco Historic District.

The House at 574 Bellefontaine St. is a historic house located at 574 Bellefontaine Street in Pasadena, California. Architect Sylvanus B. Marston of Marston, Van Pelt & Maybury designed the Swiss chalet style house, which was built in 1911 for developer G. Roscoe Thomas. The two-story house is built on a steep hill and has an "L"-shaped layout; the main entrance is located on the north side's second story. The front facade includes a large gable on the south side and a smaller one over the entrance porch; the larger gable features half-timbered woodwork. A stair tower at the back of the main corner has a pointed roof and an adjacent chimney stack. The north leg of the house has a second-story porch in the rear, while the west leg features arched windows and doors on the first floor and casement windows on the second.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 6, 1998.

Villa Verde, located at 800 S. San Rafael in Pasadena, California, is a historic estate built in 1927. The estate was designed by Marston, Van Pelt & Maybury and is representative of their Spanish Colonial Revival designs. The design features extensive wrought iron ornamentation and a terra cotta roof. F. A. Hardy, former chairman of the Goodrich Corporation and a renowned horticulturist, first inhabited the house and planted its still-surviving garden.The estate was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The listing included two contributing buildings on 1.8 acres (0.73 ha).

Prominent Pasadena architectural firm Greene & Greene designed the American Craftsman style house, which was built in 1913. The house's roof has a complex gabled form typical of Craftsman designs, and its eaves are overhanging with exposed rafters and beams. A large front-facing gable features a stepped brick chimney, while a one-story bay includes Tudor-inspired half-timbering.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 15, 2004.

The house is located in an arroyo below street level and is integrated with the surrounding nature, including a stream which flows past the front door. The house has a post-and-beam structure and features an open interior plan, a large deck, and large groups of exterior windows.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 10, 2009.

The southernmost of the Pasadena Arroyo Seco bridges, the San Rafael Bridge was constructed in 1922 in Pasadena, California. Like the Colorado Street Bridge built in 1913 and La Loma Bridge (renamed John K. Van De Kamp Bridge in 2017) built in 1914, the San Rafael Bridge is an open-spandrel concrete arch bridge that is open to pedestrians and car traffic. It was strengthened in 1990. Stylistically speaking, the open spandrel area is simpler than that of the La Loma Bridge. The lights are cast iron and the balustrade has classical details. The bridge is 581 feet long, 68 feet high, and 32 feet wide. Edwin Dewey was the city engineer overseeing the project. At one time, the San Rafael Bridge was called the Columbia Street Bridge. The bridge carries Laguna Road over the Arroyo to the San Rafael Heights neighborhood in Pasadena. Since the bridge carried the telephone, gas, electrical, and sewer systems, it was instrumental in the development of San Rafael Heights.The stairs near the San Rafael Bridge are also noteworthy. The stairs once led to Busch Gardens, the personal gardens of Adolphus Busch, co-founder of Anheuser-Busch. Busch Gardens was open to the public in 1906 and closed in 1938. It was a major tourist attraction for many years.The San Rafael Bridge is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

The neighborhood is bordered by Del Mar Boulevard to the north, Columbia Street to the south, Orange Grove Boulevard to the west, and Fair Oaks Avenue to the east. The main roads through the neighborhood are California Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue. A small part of the neighborhood on Markham street is referred to as the Governor Markham Landmark District, as the neighborhood was once home to California Governor Henry Markham.

The W. L. Mead House is a historic house located at 380 West Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena, California. Architect Louis B. Easton designed the American Craftsman house, which was built for W. L. Mead in 1910. The house is a two-story wood-frame structure with a brick foundation. The front-facing gable roof has wide eaves inspired by the Swiss chalet style. Both the roof and the second floor of the house are sided with wood shingles, a distinctive Craftsman feature; the first floor has a stucco exterior. The house also features a terrace covered by a wooden shed roof and supported by brick piers.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 6, 1998.
