Bishop McNamara High School (BMHS, McNamara, or Mac) is a private, Catholic coed high school in Forestville CDP in unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland.The school is in the Holy Cross tradition offering a college preparatory curriculum and a range of Fine Arts, athletics and activities. Founded in 1964 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, Bishop McNamara is located on a 14-acre campus in Forestville, Maryland, United States, just 7 miles south of Washington, D.C., serving students ranging from six different Maryland counties, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia and is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. The school bears the name of Bishop John Michael McNamara, a former auxiliary bishop to the Archbishops of Baltimore and Washington and the founder of St. Gabriel's parish in Washington, D.C.

Forestville High School was a public magnet high school located in Forestville, a section of unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The school had a comprehensive program with a specialized military academy magnet program. The academy, part of Prince George's County Public Schools, was notable as the only military academy in Prince George's County. Forestville High School was part of the United States Government's JROTC program. In addition to this, Forestville High School has been recognized in the 2006–2007 school year for making the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). Also, around 50% of students attending FMA have passed the HSA exams. The principal of the school was Nathaniel Laney, a Prince George's County native. The JROTC program was first implemented for all grade levels in 2006, which was led by Major General Warren L. Freeman, the school's commandant. The school mandated JROTC as a class for all grade levels, based on Leadership Education Training (LET). All students began with a rank of cadet, ending with colonel. However, very few students progressed to the highest rank. In order to be promoted, one must merit it through a minimum of GPAs (depending on rank sought). Also, for the rank of Sergeant First Class and above promotions, students had to present themselves on the Promotion Board (based on peers).

Forestville is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 12,831. The community is a mixture of garden apartments, single-family homes, and shopping centers built mostly from the 1930s through 1970s, adjacent to the communities of District Heights, Suitland, Morningside, Westphalia and Camp Springs. Forestville is located close to the town of Upper Marlboro, where many Prince George's County Board Offices are located. Additionally, Forestville is located adjacent to the Joint Base Andrews/ Andrews Air Force Base. The neighborhood has a majority African-American population. It is convenient to the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) and Maryland Route 4 for many, including employees of Andrews Air Force Base and the U.S. Census Bureau. Forestville is located within proximity to the Suitland Metro Station, served by WMATA's Green Line. A notable former resident was Steny Hoyer, now Democratic Leader of the United States House of Representatives.

Morningside is an incorporated town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,240. The town developed with the establishment of nearby Andrews Air Force Base and the federal Census Bureau. The government of the town is led by a mayor and town council. Morningside Elementary School and Benjamin Foulois Junior High School/Elementary/Creative and Performing Arts Academy (current) as well as Michael J Polley Neighborhood Park are located within the town limits. Morningside has one of the largest VFW posts (chapters) in the entire country. Morningside is also the city of license of one of Washington's most prominent radio stations, from the 1960s to the present, WJFK and WPGC-FM. Additionally, Morningside is home to one of the busiest volunteer fire departments in Prince George's County, Morningside VFD Station 827. In 2015, station 827 ran over 8,000 calls for service with 150 working fires in Morningside and the adjacent communities, and has garnered national recognition for their service to the community.

Walker Mill is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 12,187.

Suitland High School is a public magnet high school located in the Suitland census-designated place in unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, near Forestville. It is a part of Prince George's County Public Schools. The school serves: all of Suitland CDP, a section of the City of District Heights, a section of the town of Capitol Heights, all of Coral Hills CDP, portions of Forestville CDP, and a portion of Silver Hill CDP.

Branch Avenue is an island-platformed Washington Metro station in Suitland, Maryland, United States. The station was opened on January 13, 2001, and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The station presently serves as the southeastern terminus for the Green Line, with the Branch Avenue rail yard lying just beyond this station. The station is located near the intersection of Auth Road and Old Soper Road. This is also the station closest to Andrews Air Force Base.

Central High School is a public magnet high school, located in the Walker Mill census-designated place in unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, with a Capitol Heights mailing address. The school is part of the Prince George's County Public Schools system. The school hosts the county's only high school-level French Immersion magnet program, as well as an International Baccalaureate (IB) magnet program. The school also participates in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program. The principal is Keishia Wallace. Central High serves: most of Walker Mill, a section of the Town of Capitol Heights, a section of the City of Seat Pleasant, most of Peppermill Village CDP, and a portion of Summerfield CDP.

Concord is a historic home located in District Heights, Prince George's County, Maryland. It is a 1790s 2+1⁄2-story Flemish bond brick house with a five-bay south facade, and a later two-part wing which stretches to the west. The home was built for Zachariah Berry, Sr. (1749-1845), a prosperous planter who had large landholdings in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Kentucky. A great deal of the home's features are Greek Revival-influenced, dating from an 1860s renovation. A family cemetery and a number of 20th century outbuildings are located on the property.Concord was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

St. Philip the Apostle Catholic School, Camp Springs, Maryland, (known as St. Philips) is a Catholic school in Camp Springs, Maryland within the Archdiocese of Washington.

Suitland-Silver Hill was a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland for the 2000 U.S. census. The census area included the separate unincorporated communities of Silver Hill and Suitland, and other smaller communities. The population was 33,515 at the 2000 census. For the 2010 census, the CDP was separated into Silver Hill and Suitland. The community was named for a 19th-century landowner, State Senator Samuel Taylor Suit and his estate. The Suitland-Silver Hill area was known as having one of the highest crime rates in Prince George's County. The Suitland Manor neighborhood, located at the intersections of Maryland Route 218 (Suitland Road) and Maryland Route 458 (Silver Hill Road) was targeted for demolition by the county because of the frequent occurrence of violent crime and drug trafficking in the area. As of late 2005, Prince George's County was in the process of purchasing all of the apartment buildings on the three roads that make up the neighborhood (Homer Avenue, Hudson Avenue, and Huron Avenue), so that they could be demolished and replaced with mixed commercial and residential properties. In 2005, seven people were shot and killed in this three-block area, and another was killed in a hit and run. Suitland Manor is directly across Suitland Road from the Suitland Federal Center, which houses the national headquarters of the United States Census Bureau, among other government agencies. Suitland is currently poised to take advantage of development and multiple economic engines being established throughout this area of Prince George's County. Revitalization is being attempted in the area by different community organizations as they strive to undo the damage done to the reputation of the area by the former "pay to play" politics that existed in Prince George's County. The new administration of the Suitland Citizens Association has made great strides in rebuilding the trust of the local community and the Suitlandfest Community Development Corporation hosts and designs activities, programs and events that try to bring forth positive change, enhance the education, recreation, health and fitness, artistic development, social and economic conditions in this at-risk but growing area. Suitland is alleged to be one of the most dangerous places in the county but current crime statistics do not support that contention . Steny Hoyer, House Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, moved to the area in his teens and attended Suitland High School.
