Russell Creek was a short creek, 3.4 kilometres (2.1 mi) long, that flowed through what is now downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, west of the original town of York. The creek was named for Peter Russell and flowed generally southeast, like all the other waterways in Toronto, reflecting the recent glaciation, into Toronto Harbour near the present CN Tower. The creek was buried in 1876, but traces of it can still be found, for instance on the grounds of the historic Grange mansion.The Spadina Brewery was built on its banks, in 1837, and used its waters.

Murals were unveiled along the Lower Simcoe Street underpass in Toronto, Ontario, in 2019. Lead artist Tannis Nielsen worked with Indigenous artists to create the artworks. According to Muskrat Magazine, Gchi-twaa-wendan Nibi ("Honour the Water") on the eastern wall is dedicated to the Water Walkers, and 'N' gekaajig kidowog ("My Elders Said") on the western wall commemorates elders in Toronto.

The Simcoe Street tunnel is located between Front Street and Bremner Blvd. in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This CA$40 million tunnel is situated in a densely urban site below the SkyWalk and in close proximity to Toronto Union Station and the InterContinental Toronto Centre hotel. The tunnel roof structure is designed to carry all 16 pre-existing railway tracks. The ground structure provides one vehicle lane north bound and two lanes south bound, one bicycle lane and one extra wide pedestrian sidewalk on each side of the tunnel.The Simcoe Street tunnel was officially opened on September 22, 2009 by Councillor Adam Vaughan.

Woodpecker Column is a public artwork by the Canadian artist collective FASTWÜRMS, installed by the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 98-foot-tall (30 meters) black steel column was installed in 1997 and depicts a pileated woodpecker and a yellow-bellied sapsucker. The two birds are 6.5 feet (two meters) tall.

Simcoe Place is an office building and shopping centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The tower is 148 metres (486 ft) metres (486 feet) with 33 floors. It was completed by architects Carlos Ott and NORR in 1995. The late-Modernist building was built by developer Cadillac Fairview. It was the only major office tower built in Toronto during the mid-1990s, a period between the early decade real estate bubble and the building boom of the 21st century. As a special project The Globe and Mail reporter Mary Gooderham spent two years covering the construction, writing 110 columns on the subject. These were later compiled into a book titled A Building Goes Up: The Making of a Skyscraper. It is the head office for Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. It is adjacent to the CBC National Broadcast Centre and was built as the commercial component of the complex. The design was the subject of a design competition, won by Norr Architects and Ott.

The LEED rating system recognizes leading-edge buildings that incorporate design, construction and operational practices that combine healthy, high-quality and high-performance advantages with reduced environmental impacts.In 2011, Toronto Star architecture critic Christopher Hume named the RBC Centre and the neighbouring Ritz-Carlton Toronto as the two most beautiful buildings completed in the 21st century in Toronto. He praised their integration into the community, and how they have revived Wellington Street.

The building is central to the redevelopment of the area in a new neighborhood known simply as South Core. Metro Toronto Convention Centre (originally and still colloquially Metro Convention Centre, and sometimes MTCC), is a convention complex located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada along Front Street West in the former Railway Lands in downtown Toronto. The property is today owned by Oxford Properties. The centre is operated by the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre Corporation, an independent agency of the Government of Ontario.
